Regional Work, Life and Experience

MidnightPanda12MidnightPanda12 PhilippinesPosts: 212Member

Hi po. Since waiting for grants I’m doing a lot of research po on jobs for agriculture sector. Usually around 3-5 hours from capital cities (Melbourne or Sydney).

So, I just wanna ask anyone out there if they can give me any idea based on their experiences po regarding regional australia life. (Please exclude Brisbane and Gold Coast kasi kahit regional to “technically” I would say na city nadin sila). Especially in terms of community, since basically these kinds of communities has population of hundreds to thousands only. Compared to cities na mayroon hundred thousands..

So TLDR, I want insights po sana in the following re, regional AU:

  1. Community (Social life, LGBTQ perception, immigrant perception etc.)
  2. Available Services (Internet, Shops etc., Transpo)
  3. Any other notable experiences.

Depende sa magiging work loc mo din eh. Kelangan strategic ka dito.

Anong state mo balak para makacomment mga may experience sa specific state/loc.

I’m planning to look for jobs in these states po in order of priority:

    VIC > NSW > QLD > SA

Actually anywhere in VIC or NSW yung first choice ko po.

Hehe. Kaso just wanna know if there are first hand experience po.

Also about transpo, oo nga po. Car is a necessity talaga sa regional. So tinitingnan ko din po mga available jobs sa coastal regional areas or cities? Like Warnambool, Wollongong - would appreciate din po kung may makapagsuggest ng mga coastal areas. Kasi I really like the beach haha.

When I did my supposed "initial entry" last March 2020, dapat one week lang ako pero na-stuck ako for almost a year. Community-based job siya, and buti na lang, my employer assisted me with everything—including housing or accommodation with other colleagues.

Sobrang chill lang ng area kasi nasa coastal, so most of the time nasa beach lang kami, either naglalakad or nagre-relax. Kaya kapag weekend, we make sure na pumunta sa city (Brisbane, which is 4 hours drive) or sa Sunshine Coast (2 hours drive).

Definitely kailangan mo talaga ng kotse, hindi realiable ang public transpo sa regional area, at least in my area before.

It depends din kasi which regional area you decide to settle. Meron kasi na urban areas like Newcastle, Gosford or Wollongong sa NSW and meron din na mas remote. You will see the contrast with Sydney living. You get a better sense of community kasi more on suburb living. Mababait mga tao even to immigrants. Depending on the area, may mga malls and shopping centres din naman. We settled in Lake Macquarie. The lake is just 15 mins away, the beach 30 mins, Hunter valley vineyards in 30 mins. Port Stephens in 1 hour so madaming options to do stuff. Pero yung transpo kailangan nga ng car kasi the frequency of buses and trains are less than in the major cities.

If regional need talaga po ng Car for transportation.

Yung closeness sa beach siguro ang important sa akin as a factor kasi gusto ko talaga pumupunta ng beach even sa current location ko po sa Pilipinas I can go to the beach boardwalk para makapag unwind.

I’m actually searching sa mga jobs na pwede ako mag apply, a lot a bit of a stretch pero nasa agri industry pa din. Haha.

Pero yung transpo kailangan nga ng car kasi the frequency of buses and trains are less than in the major cities.

uy hunter valley! port stephens! omg pumunta kami dyan and i enjoyed every minute of it! mapapa "PH could never" ka talaga hahahaha

PH actually COULD, if only every Filipino, especially our own government, shared the same love and care for nature, with proper investments and all. Lol.

Smile ganon have to go. Depends on your personality din. 🙄😂

Parehas maganda ang ph and au beaches/dagat. Nakapag dive na ako to both and magkaiba sila talaga.

    3. TFN or tax file number, need nyo yan para sa tax return at hinahanap yan yan sa work
    4. Pagdating nyo mag apply agad kayo ng Medicare kasi 1 month ang iintayin nyo jan.
    5. Yung Centrelink nyo need nyo din asikasuhin agad yan

Ang nagagawa ng Afterpay/Paypal yung pinurchase divided into 4 example bumili ka ng relos na worth $100 ididivide mo into 4 yan so first payment mo is $25 then every fortnight or 2 weeks $25 lang.

(Siguro after 3 months na fulltime work ok tong gawin)

(luxury kumbaga haha) Kaya ayun nakita nya yung Audi.

Thank you po for the valuable insight.

Actually nga po napasearch ako bigla there are a few negative sentiments about LGBT and asian immigrants but ofc most of the time forums are skewed towards becoming an echo chamber of negativity. Kaya I always take those kinds of testimonials with a lot of salt but also ground myself on reality.

On the other hand. It is great to know na mayroon online shopping. Hahahaha. As a frequent Online shopper at least may option pa din.

Will be getting that po in the future. Hihi.

May driver’s license din po ako so I can just convert it po sa AU license hopefully makapagadjust sa driving on the right side of the road agad agad. Hahaha.

Tungkol naman sa asian immigrant parang wala naman discrimination BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE ulit. Haha.

Super helpful. And agree with the splurging a bit. I think we deserve it kasi naman apakahirap mag migrate.

On that regard may 2nd hand po ba na Jimny. Lol. Yun ang dream car ko dito sa Pinas and to do outdoorsy stuff. Pero might change depende sa available na within range syempre po sa AU.

Thank you for also mentioning something about discrimination against LGBT and POC, good to know that you can turn sa gov’t for support regarding this. Haha
