Job seeking wouldn't be any different from a local recruiter.
Having an actual employer sponsored visa like a 482, you're basically an OFW which is what people think when they hear the word "agency"
I moved everything from BPI to NAB via wire transfer.
You can pick any of the big 4, I like NAB because they have zero fees and zero maintaining requirements

Hello po, when you lodge your visa, pede bang separate credit card ang gamitin para sa payment ng visa for the primary and dependent? As of now di kasi kakayain pag isang card lang. Thank you

Most of the practice exams are designed harder than the real test, so you can easily pass the real thing.
And yes pauses count against your speaking score.
Also worth noting to meet the big agencies in AU and give them your CV:

Middle name usually goes in the Given Name field if the form doesn't have a separate field for it.
My US visa has my 2 given names + middle name in the Given Name field.
My AU tourist visas also has the given names + middle name but the PR one…
@mycroft_holmes I flew this route and my carry-on got swabbed in Changi. AU swabs you on departure from an AU airport, the customs dogs handle the arrivals and only if they find something suspicious (like fruit) and need to look further.
@ignorms @ER1 The skilled occupation list was updated yesterday:

@ClmOptimist All of the big 4 banks (ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac) have migrant banking facilities and can receive international wire transfers.
Just go to your branch of account and ask how to do a wire or a SWIFT transfer, BPI calls it "outward remitta…
@Hendro The forms only ask for the postal address. Just let Medicare know when you submit the form since you'll need to show up to a service centre anyway.
@rcbconopio Same line of work. The stuff I need to learn is harder than any job I had in PH but it feels like being a fresh grad again.
Gumtree = Sulit/OLX. It's like a non-crappy version of Facebook Marketplace. Good for buy and selling stuff or o…
@sag With a normal peso account on BPI my fees were P600 + 0.60c per P200.
NAB inward rates are here: https://www.nab.com.au/personal/international/receive-money-from-overseas
@rcbconopio Everything is online so don't worry about hard copies. The only forms I've printed are the job offer, the TFN declaration form, and the super standard choice form. You'll eventually know what those two are when you get here, so don't wor…
@milktea13 Any will do. When I left, I gave money to a relative and they paid my contributions every quarter. I don't recall if there were issues back then with paying for a whole year but a full quarter is fine.
Everyone's out for New Year.
The 100-point check is for verifying your identity and is not specific to renting. The PH equivalent is the "show 2 valid IDs" thing. If you're applying as a couple they'll need to check you both since your names will b…
@mycroft_holmes Moved solo to Australia last year and only brought 3 bags (2x 23kg luggages + 7kg carry on). Everything else was sold or given away.
- Passport + printout of visa
- Phone with LTE support (since there's no more 2G in Australia)
- Cl…
I left mine at 120 contributions just to get the pension instead of the lump sum.
You'll earn so much more in Australia that the SSS pension will look tiny by comparison, and if you ever go back to PH you can bring your super with you.
@kOtZ @maguero I have my middle name on a previous AU tourist visa (that a relative applied for). They've put it on the given name field and it didn't matter. I got in without problems and spent a month here. I have various other tourist visas and b…
Unique wildlife - you won't find kangaroos, emus, wombats or quokkas anywhere else
Online services - They're both good, but IMO Australian government websites are slightly better than the Canadian ones. There's also myGov and things getting integra…
@rcbconopio If you're used to SG/HK style transport then lower your expectations. It's good enough and can take you when you're in the inner suburbs/CBD but once you're outside into the suburbs that's when you need a car since buses can't reach ever…
@rcbconopio You can go as late as you want as long as you enter before the date specified in your visa. As for sharing accommodation, look up https://flatmates.com.au/
You'll need to put more details on how you'll do the move. How many people movin…
Google Flights reports around 2k for an economy roundtrip flight to Manila with Qantas.
Do note that flights can be cheap but they have gotchas like 12-hour layovers in Cairns or something, so looking at pure price isn't everything.
@blue3319 I forgot what those two are (one of them should be the chest X ray) but they'll just queue you up on that room. I had a blood test, urine test, chest X ray, and a doctor checkup for my 189.
Don't worry and just show up on the appointed da…
@Pixiepie After you apply online and get approved, they'll email you everything you need to wire money to your account (SWIFT code + BSB code + account number). In this state you can only deposit money to your account via wire transfers and you can'…
