Tourist Visa - Wife (then apply onshore partner visa)

J.cruzziJ.cruzzi PhilippinesPosts: 6Member
Hello po mga Kababayan!

My partner and I recently got married last April 2019, and I am planning to get her an tourist visa and applying onshore partner/spouse visa so we can be together.

I have successfuly got her tourist visa last year (before we got married), and she stayed here for a month (dec-jan 2018).

We are just waiting (approx. 3 weeks) for the marriage certificate to be released.

My question po is, Does she needs to change passport family name before I apply her tourist visa?

Also please take note po that I am planning to get her 1 year visa and apply an ONSHORE PARTNER VISA.

I am planning to apply her via online for the tourist visa and get an migration agent for the partner visa once she comes here in Perth.

Please help po.

Best regards,
Jaycee

No need to change passport to reflect change of civil status specially if the passport is still valid for some years. This article is a good read.

Should she opt to use your surname later on, this can be done when applying for a new passport and once released, simply update Department of Home Affairs with the new passport details and marriage certificate as reason for change or surname.

I am not privy though to the nuances of applying for a partner visa but reading from some posts in this forum, it does take some time. So if it would not be much of a trouble to get a new passport then perhaps doing so can ease up some of the steps later on.
