I've heard of bipolar cases where the applicants were granted skilled immigrant visas. However, I would suggest that you have a plan to help manage your condition once you get here. Not so much in terms of medication, since that is available here, but in terms of triggers. The transition is not always easy and there will be a lot of adjustments. I know of two cases where all the changes and difficulties that came with migrating became too overwhelming and one person ended up going back home for over a year, while another was unable to work and was under medication for quite a while.

This is not to discourage you or to scare you. It's just to let you know that yes you can get the visa, but you really need to prepare yourself and ensure you have a support system in place when you move.

Thank you po sa pagsagot and sa payo. I'm not too worried currently sa transition since may strong support system naman ako (husband) and kasama ko sya sa move so hopefully okay naman. Ang worried lang talaga ako ay yung pag declare, lalo na at nagmemedicate. Ayoko sana ideclare honestly pero di ko alam kung makakaapekto din ba yun or may chance na malaman din nila.

I can't remember if the medicals involve a blood test, but if it does your medication may show in the results—not to scare, just something to also consider. Here's a thread that might be helpful: https://pinoyau.info/discussion/14789/is-declaring-a-mental-health-condition-a-possible-cause-for-visa-refusal.

Honestly, for me you have to declare the truth. Makikita kasi nila yan eventually lalo na kung mag visit ka sa specialist, magkaka-record ka.. It may affect your citizenship application.. Also sa mga nababasa ko, as long as you can support yourself in terms of medication, health insurance, and this condition will not affect you to actually do your work, they will assess and re-consider. So not immediate refusal.

@letmegotoauspls Official diagnosis is required when you declare your psychiatric condition. Pag nagcheck ka na may mental illness, need mo declare kung ano yun and magprovide ka later on ng document from the doctor indicating yung diagnosis and prognosis mo.

Nagconsult kami ng agent for our this case (Lombard yung name). When it comes to mental illness, pwedeng ma-reject yung application depende sa cost ng treatment ng illness mo (must be less than AUD $50k for a period of 5 years ang cost to be approved, something like that). May very specific guidelines yung AU immigration on the cost of each type of mental illness. For example, depression is cheaper than yung gamutan ng bipolar or schizophrenia. Yun yung basis nila to approve/reject applications on the basis of mental illness.

Ok so I looked up the cost of my current medication sa Aus and mura lang sya, sobrang layo sa 50k yung 5-year cost 😅 yun nga lang, clinical impression lang nga and walang official diagnosis talaga so di ko sure pano yun. Have yet to talk to my doc pa.

Thanks for the info! Were you able to get a pr na po?

@letmegotoauspls I suggest magpa official diagnosis po kayo. Akala ko bipolar yung case ko pero nung nagpa assess kami ulit sa current doctor, it turned out na depression and anxiety yung diagnosis. Nideclare namin and nagprovide kami ng diagnosis and prognosis with details of meds na iniinom and na approve naman PR namin.

Hi, a person with diagnosed ADHD here. I am medicated and have declared these in my application. I received my visa grant just before the new year. Not sure lang for bipolar cases.

Hi @kathc, if you're comfy sharing, what kind of documentation did you have to provide for it and did they ask for additional tests? Really worried they won't accept a simple med cert (diagnosis + treatment/medication + consultation plan) and would require expensive extra psych testing.
