Arriving in Adelaide end April to get house keys, register kids to school, etc..etc. Hirap pala maghanap ng bahay dyan kung walang tutulong sa inyo mag inspect. At points system pa ang application....interesting experience. Anyway will be at Findon suburb, walking distance to school, mall, restaurants and bank. Now alam ko na kung anong bank ako magbubukas ng account. 20 footer container follows from Singapore with all our stuff by May. Family follows me by 1st or 2nd week of May from holiday din and hopefully dumating na din ang gamit namin. Hello to a new beginning! Good luck sa mga bagong salta like us

@nikx, Hindi pa po kami nagapply ng wife ko. Pagdating na lang doon kasi ang dami namin ginagawa for this move. Nagsearch po ako ng house sa Domain and Realestate.com.au, I contacted them using the online email. Nagregister din ako sa Chubbi. Whole house po ang kinuha ko kasi we are a family of 5 and we're carrying all our stuff from 11 years in Singapore. Pag magrent po ng house, pre-requisite and a MUST yung house viewing before pa nila consider yung applicant. After the viewing, doon pa lang nila ibibigay yung application form. Fill it out and submit to them together with the required documents. Points system yung documents like passport, NRIC or any National ID that has your birthdate, Drivers license, birth certificate, utility bills, credit card statements, bank statements, etc. Meron po yan corresponding points but yung 1st 2 or 3 that I mentioned is a MUST to submit. Then from a pool of registrants, mamimili yung landlord kung kanino nya ibibigay yung house. Just wait for the result or follow up with the agent. Dahil sa system na ito, I had to apply for several houses in my shortlist kasi unsure kung magiging successful ka. Naging successful kami sa Northgate suburb and Findon but I chose Findon based on what I have read and opinions from people living in the area. Punta ka din sa police website kasi uso ang house break-ins sa Aussie. So choose the better neighborhoods na lesser ang crime rate. First things first, sana may friends kayo sa Adelaide na makatulong sa house inspection. Dyan kami nahirapan kasi agents ang nagbibigay ng time and date ng inspection. Also, deal with agents rather than owners for peace of mind kasi complete ang documents na ibibigay sayo. And dont worry, wala po bayad ang agent like in Singapore. Dito, only the landlord pays the agents fee. Hope this helps.

@zapped thanks sa detailed reply! Too bad wala akong kakilala sa adelaide so i guess dun nalang talaga ako maghahanap. Pero buti nalang di nila nirerequire na dapat may work ka na bago makapagrent ng whole house. Mga gano ka katagal nakakuha ng house? Any tips para maging successful ung application? Nagsend ka din ba ng copy ng NRIC? Kasi kung pagdating ko palang ako maghahanap n house by that time cancelled na IC ko. Sorrt madaming questions. Thank you ulit!

@nikx, yes nagsend ako ng NRIC ko. Lahat ng documents ay thru email lang. Scan mo lang lahat ng documents na meron ka and start applying for houses now. Yung tagal ng correspondence is based sa availability ng house (nakalagay sya sa adevertisement). Nagstart ako maghanap 1 month prior to arriving. Akala ko madali lang but I got to learn all this requirements na must inspect pala before your application can be considered. Tapos kakaresearch ko, nalaman ko din na uso ang house break-ins So hanap ulit ng neighborhood na safer daw based on demographics. Iniwasan ko din ang neighborhood na madaming statehouses. Para syang bliss if you compare to Pinas but can be self standing units or apartments. Mostly umuupa kasi nyan ay mga teenagers na questionable ang status based sa mga agents na kausap ko. Honest naman sila basta sabihin mo yung requirements mo sa kanila at alam nila na migrants kami.

Successful applications are based on attaining at least the minimum points needed. Then nasa landlord na decision nun based sa application mo. Ako, I was willing to advance 6 months to1 year advance payment just to get the house na gusto ko. Dito ako nakakuha ng leverage among the rest of the applicants. But in the end, I was lucky enough to get selected sa currrent house na nakuha ko. Btw, ilang bedrooms ang hinahanap mo?

pede ko kayo matulungan. masaya kaya mag viewing ng house.

@kittykitkat18 & @prcand, Statehouses or State-run houses are housing for low income or no income people. They could be apartments, stand alone bungalows, etc. Madaming lugar ang nilagyan nyan and its everywhere. These are mostly old dilapidated houses....makikita nyo sa streetmap pag tumitingin kayo ng bahay sa realestate or domain. The only way to confirm what type of neighborhood is by asking the agent, people around that area or check the police records. Updated yung chart nila every month what type of crime ang prevalent sa lugar. Di maiiwasan so minimizing the chance na lang ang magagawa by staying as far as possible to these areas. Nasanay na kasi kami sa high security ng SG. Pero siguro naman Oz can't be anywhere as close to Pinas environment.

@kittykitkat18 @viewsa naisip ko maglagay ng grills, assuming of course pag nasa risk areas. or ung remote alarm, na pag may break in, matri-trigger ung phone mo. tapos madi-display sa CCTV
