Hi, just recently joined here in forum... My husband is in his10th weeks in Australia as Auto Tech... me and my son is planning to join him there... I am a CPA here in Philippines, employ as an Accountant in small SME's (realty business). It is possible for me also to get an accounting job there? which is better get the visa 457 first or process the visa that will allow me to get an accounting job when I get there?

    Please advice me...

@julie_dreams - what is your husband's visa? im assuming 457?
i am asking because, if it's possible that you can be included in his visa (secondary/dependent)..
then you can just apply for that easily, you dont need to go through the assessment process, because your husband is the primary visa holder..

if you are thinking of applying for a separate PR visa for you, then thats also another option.. but that will take some more time/money.. IELTS (academic), gathering of documents (Diploma/TOR/Cert of Employment) for your Skills Assessment..

this is my opinion... let's wait for the accountants.. ;)

Hello po sa lahat ng Accountants! :)

This is my first post. We are planning to migrate to Australia next year. Currently, we engaged the help of an agent na po who is an Australian married to a Pinay.

I am an external auditor po, previously in the Philippines and now here in Sg.

Hi im planning to gather COE from my various employers. Im currently here in SG but i have 3 past employers sa Pinas.
    @vhoytoy - if I may:

ang mga skills assessment bodies kasi, they based their decision to judge whether your experience should be counted as a relevant experience in your nominated occupation based on the ANZSCO definition of tasks and responsibilities.

    http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/Product+Lookup/92F7E66D6E3A863DCA2571E200835445?opendocument

to answer your question, try to make it as specific as possible. sa job experience and certificate of employment ng wife ko sa 1st job nya (one of the Big 4 Audit firms) - 6 pages in total ito. it was very comprehensive, good thing they have that already as a template so wala naging problema dito.

the key here is to really convince the people doing the assessment... goodluck!
hi @psychoboy, would you mind if you can share the detailed job description na nakuha ng wife mo from the philippines? kakarequest ko pa lang kasi nung sakin e..

    Salamat! :)

if your primary visa holder is 457 visa, and dependent kayo, you will have the same rights ng 457 visa.. hindi nyo na po kailangan mag-apply ng separate visa just to find work..

now the question is, nung nag-apply po ba si mister ng 457, eh naka-declare po kayo sa application nya as his family/dependents? if not, then thats another story..

hi guys. just like to ask some clarifications on the Syllabus requirement by CPA Au.
I remember getting a copy of the syllabus from the professors back in college but I may have thrown away most of them. What I have now is the catalogue of courses of the the whole university. It states the name of the course and a short paragraph(about 50 words) describing it.

Anybody here who has submitted the same and got a positive assesment?

Hi @dwayti. For my CPAA Skills Assessment in 2009, I submitted a printout of syllabus as per university website, just as the way you described yours – short paragraph for each subject. I got a positive assessment, everything was recognised as commensurate to an Australian degree. For my Membership Assessment this year, I submitted full syllabus which was retrieved from university archive department. I got exactly the same results.

    Hi Everyone! Merry Blessed 2013!

I am new here in the site, and i am glad to see your posts, though i understand little yet about the abbreviations and about the processes, so i need to study and learn more, and read a lot.. Your posts, i believe are helpful and i will be making use of them, and will throw questions, haha, once i become familiarized with the process.

i am a cpa and currently working in the government office for the audit position.

i worked in private companies (general accounting, AR analyst) and i just started in the government as auditor starting Oct.2012. my current work gives me so much knowledge.

my fiance and i are planning though to come work and settle in australia, if God permits. He is a seaman, but he is willing to stop working as a seaman when we get the chance to stay and settle in australia.

hahah, my introduction is too long!

    God bless us all. Cheers!!

@cancal333 - all the best to your application!! first and foremost assess yourself how many points you have - then prolly enroll yourself in an IELTS examination. then prepare your docs, etc...

usually preparation of docs ang pinakamatagal eh... and yeah, practice very hard for the IELTS - getting a 7 in all subjects is not impossible but if you don't prepare enough, baka mahirap... :)

    all the best!!

Hi Guys, I have been going through interesting discussions on this site for quite sometime and finally signed up as a member recently. I am in the process of completing my documents for migration assessment by CPAA and applied some of the inputs I've read here, as follows:
    1) COE - I have not received any detailed COE from any of the companies I've worked with (Phil. Big 4 Firm, SG Big 4 Firm, and current company) thus I prepared statutory declarations (to be presented to AU High Commission in SG for signature) to support my work experiences. I will be including employment contracts and promotion letters as well as pay slips to support my claims.
    2) Syllabus - I don't have a detailed syllabus but my school (SLU, Baguio City) will prepare a course description for all subjects shown in my transcript of records. I have prepared an outline/ cover letter to show which of the subjects in my TOR I believe should fall under each of the core knowledge areas.

@psychoboy - Sir, would appreciate if you can kindly provide me a copy of your wife's detailed duties/responsibilities from her audit experience in Phil and with your permission I shall use the same as reference for my document preparation.

To other forum members who are from SLU, Baguio City, if you can kindly share your syllabus effective for the school year 1996-1997 (museum archive not accessible :)).

Thanks guys, this site is really doing a great deal of public service to all AU aspirants, keep it up!

@Bigfoot - sorry but the document that you are looking for is something that is owned by the firm. I cannot be able to just pass this on. I hope you understand.

If I can make a suggestion, you can formulate a COE by yourself or if you want it to be copy and paste, you can just probably google audit job description.

Your syllabus can be secured from your school and you need to request this yourself as well...

    All the best!!

@psychoboy, I understand and thanks anyway. Yup, I have prepared the duties and responsibilities that I intend to attach with my statutory declaration in lieu of the COE from my previous and current employers. I was just intrigued when I read about your comment on your wife's detailed COE which ran to 6 pages and I thought I might have missed some of the duties performed in audit or maybe my description of the duties are not as detailed as your wife's.

Hope you can continue to update us on this thread once you've settled in Melbourne for us to have a feel of the job market (accountants) in the city.

Any accountants in Perth who can update us on the job market in the city? Any advice on which courses we can take to prepare us for an accounting job in the mining industry (if there's such a thing)?

    Regards

    All the best to you!!

Don't stress too much on the work experience COE - instead focus more attention on your educational documents; if you have read in previous posts in this thread, big waterloo yan accounting theory na iyan.

I would suggest that you prepare a document in which you will map the 12 knowledge area with what you think would correspond as far as what you have taken in college - reason for this is that majority of the knowledge area does not have an exact same name as the subject you may have taken in college OR one knowledge area may have been discussed over 2 or more subjects in college - if such is the case, indicate it in the document you will prepare for such.

    All the best!! :)

    Hi po,

Been quiet for a long time since I stopped my application way back 2009. Sana may makatulonh sakin dito.

    My case:
Applied for CPAA Assessment 2009 pa, got a positive result but take note that IELTS was not required then before CpAA Assessment. My positive assessment is valid for 5 years, so that says it will expire on 2014. Nag stop ako nun kasi nagkababy ako and my son has down syndrome.

Ngaun gusto ko ulit ituloy since lumabas na yung result sa health requirement inquiry and recommendations with DIAC's comments. My sister in law who is now in Perth called DIAC about the validity of my assessment. And they answered daw "as long as its valid, its acceptable." So i took the GT ielts last jan 12 lang. Though ang 1 requirement ngayon ng CPAA to get a positive assessment is OBS 7 in Acad IELTS.

    Questions:
    1. Kung makakuha ako ng OBS 7 sa GT ielts, possible kaya na require ako ng DIAC to seat for an ACad ielts and get at least obs 7?
    3. Kung bibigyan ako ng invitation through EOI process, pwede ko bang gamitin yung employment exp ko for the past 3 years na hindi naman nagamit sa CPAA assessment?

Thank you in advance sa mga sasagot.

    Moving on...
God has bigger plans for me than what I have for myself...
    To God be the glory!

If i may answer, eto po ang opinyon ko:

Given na valid pa po ang assessment nyo, pwede nyo pa po yan gamitin:

    1. Dahil hindi pa requirement ang IELTS dati for CPAA (sabi nyo), eh pwede na po ang GT IELTS for DIAC.
    2. I dont think papakunin pa kayo ng bagong assessment sa CPAA.
    3. The only question is on your Work Experience:
    - kung hindi naman po kayo lumipat ng work, since ung assessment nyo, i guess pwede nyo pa i-claim ang 2009-2012 na work experience nyo.. you just need an updated COE..
    - pero kung entirely new job at new company, baka aka i-require kayo na kumuha ng separate assessment for Points Test for relevant work experience, kung meron mang ganung service ang CPAA..

Thanks lock_code2004. Dati kasi sa CPAA Assessment di naman required yung work experience. If I remember it right ang sinend ko lang ay TOR, Syllabus, Diploma, at PRC Rating. after ko makareceive ng positive assessment lumipat ako ng work. External Audit ako dati, then 3 years na din ako sa current job ko as bank examiner. di ba DIAC ang nag aassess sa work exp at sila nagbibigay ng points?

    Moving on...
