I started applying for jobs while I was still in Manila. In my resume, under location, I wrote, "Sydney Australia (Permanent Resident, July 2018)" Agree with @batman though, it's hard to get a job while you're overseas. A lot of the time, employers want you to be in the country for interviews, etc.

this is one of the threads na binasa ko mula sa simula.
So ngayon dalawa na yung part time job nya.

As for me, nagkaron ako ng trabaho after 3 weeks.

Sige po will try that. question though, that number sa skype will be considered as a skype number lang talaga? or will it be classified as a regular landline/mobile number? inindicate niyo po ba sa CV na its a skype number? and if may additional charges pa siya pag tinatawagan ka/tatawag ka or yun subscription itself na?

They forwarded my cv to someone they know that might interest sa skills ko. Kasi yung branch namin dito walang assurance department. Advisory sila so di ako pede.

When you move in Aus, you must have a plan and right mindset. No need for Plan B. Plan B will just hold you back on your goal.

I moved here 12years ago with only $200 in my pocket. Worked in labour jobs the following weekend to have money while applying for engineering job. After 2 months, I got an engineering job and the rest is history.
I met lots of pinoy (like dentist, nurse,IT manager, Bznes manager, Accntant at madami pang iba) na nagwowork sa warehouse. Happy naman sila at kontento sa work so hnd na sila naghanap sa linya nila. Yun ibang pinoy may crab mentality sasabihin sa iyo hindi mo mapapraktis un profession mo dito or hindi ka makakakuha ng work sa linya mo. They pull you down. They put your morale down but it’s up to you if you’ll give up on your goal / dream.

    Goodluck everyone.

Hi sir rvonline. Im currently applying for visa and my target is in melbourne. I'm a civil engr here sa pinas.

I won’t do construction though. Medyo mahirap magwork sa construction. Our workers are working in cold at warm weather outdoors, 0-34degrees temp. When I was at remote WA, 45 degrees everyday.
I would suggest warehouse, process or sorting work which are all easier than construction. You can study driving forklift to have better and high paying job than normal labour job.
Sa construction, you’ll need white card to work and the more ticket you have the better chances you will have.

I have syrian (engr) workmate who enrolled to learn how to speak english, learn to operate excavator and forklift while applying for engineering related job. He eventually land a job as estimator on casual / contract agreement thru careerseeker. No work no pay agreement. After 6 months, the company offered him fulltime job as Estimator.

CareerSeekers is a non-profit social enterprise. It creates professional employment opportunities for migrants like refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia by enabling paid internships. The CareerSeekers model bridges the gap between new Australians and employers seeking to create a more diverse workforce.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and have been looking around for topics and helpful tips. :) I'll have an appointment with an agent this coming 18th and they already did an initial assessment. I'm just very anxious about everything. May cousin ako who recently migrated to Albany and are already working there (pero not related sa field na they studied for - they have blue-collar jobs right now).

I work in the Marketing industry here sa Philippines (have been working for 5 years). And I'm just scared to not find a job that fits my experience and education. Any tips you guys can give me? Should I get more certifications na related to Marketing while I'm still here sa PH?

P.S. I'll be putting all my anxieties in the table naman when I meet with the agent this Wednesday.

Try any jobs while looking for your dream job. It gives you local experience that you can discuss in your interview but do not include it on your CV if it’s not related to the position you’re applying.

@pamzaragoza based on my observation, most companies here are small - medium entities and they do not have a marketing department. Usually what they do is networking or word of mouth. I would suggest do some research first on your field, write a list of companies who has your field eventhough they do not have an opening on it and maybe try to email them.

As to the certifications, maybe save the money first and once you are here and have an understanding of how Australia does its Marketing, then you can get those certifications that are necessary only (usually I think is the use of software since techy na ang mga tao).

And true sabi ni @rvonline, try any jobs while waiting for your dream job. One of the hardest struggles that migrants have is looking for a job talaga. Just keep the faith and keep on pushing.

Good luck sa 18th!! Is that a job interview or visa application?

JUST sharing my experience. we moved here January sa Sydney. family of 4. wala halos baon, although meron kami house sa SG na pinapaupahan so yun monthly rent nun ang allowance namin. Swerte na yun relative namin may kakilala na contractor sa security/AV installations, so while waiting for interview nag trabaho muna ako sa kanila, swerte after 1 month in Sydney i got a job offer from an Interior Design company. Si wifey naman after 2 months nakakuha na din ng work sa arki firm naman, which ako pa yun nagpasa ng resume namin ng January (sya un na interview ako hindi wahahaha). Yun lang yun mga interview na napuntahan namin and in God's grace dun na din kami nakapasok na company. Wag lang mawawala un trust natin kay Lord and He will provide everything.

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

James 5:7-8 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

    Onward to the next chapter!
