Work from Home (?)

My wife is not working right now since she have to take care of my kids. One option that we are looking right now is "work from home". Do you know of any legitimate work from home opportunity? or anyone na nakasubok.. mga encoder type of work siguro.. nag try kaming mag search online pero ang worry namin ay baka ma scam lang kami..

ung fiancee ko work from home dito, pero through Odesk and IT project specifically software eng'g & dev't so far ok nman, ang advantage ay he can work anywhere pero competition is getting tougher dahil na dn sa dami ng competitors/contractors from India, China, even as far as Russia who offer cheaper prices.

@filipinacpa are you working from home sa PH or sa Au na po? There's a big difference kasi. If nasa PH, mas malaki net income ang nagwork from home kasi 'spending peso while earning dollar'. If nasa Au, 'earning dollar and spending dollar'.

@johnvangie hi! just register lang po sa elance as basic individual member. it's free unless you want to upgrade your account. as basic member, you'll have 40 credits that you can use to apply for each job postings.. it will automatically replenish every month..

There are plenty of jobs to choose from in elance. It is categorized into different areas of skills. I am under ADMIN works. There are IT jobs too as well which is i think is the highest paying job listings there. Those who are good in writing articles will have a good future in elance din.. As of now I'm handling ongoing clients as their virtual assistant.. There are times din na I do one-time job like typing, audio transcription, marketing research, etc.. Try browsing about their job listings muna if you're interested. I recommend to apply with those clients na may proven payment record na just to make sure all your work will be paid off and never send any payments!!

I use paypal as mode of transacting my earnings. So from elance to paypal then from paypal to my bank. It's up to you how will you rate your service. There are clients which are budget conscious so they mostly employ indian or filipinos as contractors but there are clients din naman na very sophisticated wherein they will not care how much is your rate as long as you deliver your work with high quality..

@IslanderndCity Hi! I'm still in PH and yes you are right.. It will depend how much will you rate your service. Western elance contractors are mostly the one with higher service rate of like $10/hour or $20/hour above depending on the work you will provide. There are clients din naman na willing to pay higher as long as your work is of good quality.

Btw guys, just don't lose hope in getting your first client in elance. It will be the hardest part. Lucky for me my first client is a nice aussie guy and a Filipina (sabay sila) so I was able to start building my reputation agad sa elance..

@IslanderndCity yes.. i mostly do my elance work every evening and weekends.. btw, i was able to get referral letters din from my clients in the hope that someday i can use it as reference for future odd jobs applications.. haha i also have australian clients so hopefully it would help too
