Vetasses Assessment and Visa Application

Hello everyone.

Please let me know your thoughts.

1) I have been a graphic designer for years, 1 year in the Philippines and around 6 years in Japan. In January of this year however, I moved to my current job as Artwork Production Specialist in Unilever Japan. This position involves project coordination and management, so personally I believe that the occupation nomination for this will be under program or project administration. But, since I have the majority of my professional life as a graphic designer, I feel I should nominate graphic design occupation for the assessment. Do you think this is a right decision?

2) I read somewhere that the graphic design occupation is not under the SOL. Is this true? And if so, will this affect the points I will gather during the visa application?

3) I am in a same-sex relationship and my partner and I have been together and living together for almost 7 years. I want to include him as my de facto. What do you think is the best possible proof of our relationship to submit during application?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi @jaypee86 , as I've read in the current version of the occupation lists, Graphic designers are still in the list through state nomination (189) https://www.acacia-au.com/anzsco/232411.php

Have your skills assessed ASAP by the proper assessing body as the list might get edited again by July 2018

Have graphic designer listed as your nominated occupation as this is where you've spent most years of your work. Make sure your job description and roles fit in with that of the assessing body's for your occupation and you'll be fine.

If you want to include your partner, have his skills assessed as well plus IELTS for more points in the EOI. Also, co-owned assets (both in your names) and proof of living together are the best you can give to satisfy the case officer for visa application. Any more questions you can PM me.

    Cheers!

Yes, @heero_yuy51, your occupation is still on the list and major changes do happen in July and they review policies every 6 months. I always advice my clients to start the process sooner rather than later to avoid the risk of missing out. I your current role still matches most of the tasks listed in ANZSCO for your nominated occupation, it wouldn't hurt to include it when you apply for skills assessment.

With regards to including your partner, having his skills assessed surely won't hurt but if you have more than enough points, it may not be necessary since it's additional cost your end. The documents mentioned above are just few of many documents you can provide. The more evidences, the better. Bear in mind that immigration wants to see that your relationship is genuine and continuing so you'll need to satisfy shared financial and household responsibilities, social aspect of the relationship. I usually get nitty gritty with my clients when they provide evidences as I'd prefer to submit their visa application covering all aspects i mentioned.
