Eto, buy meat sa Coles that has a best before date (BBD) that is within 3 days...

More likely bagsak presyo ito by around 30%.

There was one time nga we bought a pork chop whose BBD is on the same day, ayun mga 300g ito and it was priced $1.5 lang. What we did was tinimplahan namin and we cooked it immediately... :)

Very much cheaper to cook here than eat out!! :)

Good way to save is set up a direct debit to an account you can not acces and with higher interest. Anz may progress saver for kids...high interest and every forthnight my salary packaging goes there.

If you have salary packaging at work, sign up for it. Also utiliZe entertainment meal packaging if meron kayo at work. Extra money given back to you pretax of your salary.

Flat sharing... Rent number 1 savings killer in au.

Some tips to save on electricity - super mahal na kuryente!
    1. Shower time limit to 5 mins maximum
    2. Washing machine dapat na ka set to cold wash lang - turn off the hotwater
    3. Buy/wear clothes that don't need ironing - save time and electricity :-)
    4. when using the kettle - boil only the amount of water you require. Before when we need hotwater most of the time (dahil sa formula ng anak ko) nilagay namin sa thermos.
    5. Dry clothes in the line. Use only the clothes dryer if kailangan na kailangan.
    6. Use oil heater - fan heater uses a lot of energy.

@spykes78 agl has off peak rates so sa gabii i do my laundry. My sister is saving up for solar panels?they cost about 700- 1k each and she needs about 8-10 for a 4 bedroom house pero it will save money plus thr govt gives u money for extra energy produced.

I am wondering... If you invest in a 1K panel; how much are you saving yr on this?

Guess what I am driving at is, how long can you recoup your investment? :)

@psychoboy the ozzies i work said worth it daw.. They have had it for the last 12 years or so and never had to pay electricity and the govt gives them mga 80-90 aud per month kasi they produce more power than they consume. I dont remember how soon na recoup ung investment. Pero sabi ng isang ozzie at work.. They have a pool and very worth it may solar panel to heat it kasi if they use daw electric..too expensive to heat it up.
Most of them is a household of 4-5 .. So maybe if heavy electric user ok yung solar panels long term.
Yung ate ko naman.. Wala pang solar panels but very keen sila kasi ung uncle ng hubby nya sa queensland said even whole day aircon sila dun during summer.. No bills daw so very worth it,

On this note, ung friends ko before kasi naninibago sa winter. There were 3 of them flatting and they do monthly billing or bill smoothing. 2 out of 3 of them left the heater on most days without the 3rd one knowing this was happening... They got a bill of 900 for 1 month! At first the 3rd person thought it was a mistake kasi usual bill nila nasa 90-150 per month lng (no clothes dryer/ electric stove and 1 bakes a lot) then upon discussion..yun pala was happening:p

So i guess it depends on consumption if one thinks it is worth it or not:)

Yes grabe sa kuryente ang fan heater, that happened to us when my daughter was 3 months old tapos mama ko hindi sanay sa winter so in 3 months bill namin is 1200, napa iyak ako! Kasi yang 1200 ay whole year na electricity bill na yan pagtipid ka nga noon kasi ngayon mahal na kuryente.

May kakilala kami na worth it ang solar panels sa kanila kasi the wife is doing catering business so heavy user sila sa electricity.

I know somebody na nag pa install. There's 8 of them sa household at Hindi nila pinapatay ang air on sa summer kse may babies. Ayun... $2 ang bill instead of the last time daw na $0. Hehhehehe. Worth it daw talaga yung panels kse the government will subsidize yung part ng installation fee. And Kung Hindi ka naman gaano gumagamit ng electricity the government will pay you.

Here is my timeline with fees incurred :) 2012

I guess its possible buts its not worth it as it is going to be really expensive ... normally put a solar when it is your own house ... not sure if its possible for units/flats

    For Savings tips
    1. Get a coles credit card .. shop at coles and earn ... naka isang microwave , isang rice cooker at 4 movie tickets na kami sa flybuys .
    2. Pag winter we dont use heater instead we use 2 blankets at night :)

    Google for Everything !!!

If you are fond of watching movies sa cinema, I heard cheap daw kapag Tuesday - kami naman, we avail of $10 movie voucher available for Optus customers...

    https://www.yestickets.com.au/movierewards/

This can be used anytime EXCEPT for movie screenings after 5PM on Saturdays... :)

Not bad, $18 dollars saving na iyan - around 12 litres of unleaded fuel na!! :P

You need to bring a heavy duty jacket for winter. Kahit isa lang or kahit suot mo na, basta meron ka, you'll survive. The thing is, if you buy winter clothes in the Philippines, kahit branded pa yan, mas mura pa rin compared to the branded items here. Kung gusto mo ng bargain items, meron din dito kaso hindi pa rin comparable minsan ang quality. Fleece jackets/jumpers range from as low as $8-$15 kapag bibili ka sa Big W or Kmart.
