Did you ever want to study abroad? If you did, have you considered going to the Land Down Under, home of the Sydney Opera House, Uluru Rock, kangaroos and koalas?

Well aside from its famous tourist attractions, Australia is known to have a well- developed educational system and its universities and students are globally recognized. Here are ten facts and statistics on Australia's educational performance:

1. Australia is the third most popular international student destination in the world.

2. Australia offers 22,000 courses in 1,100 institutions.

3. 7 out of 100 of the top universities in the world are Australian.

4. 5 out of 30 best student cities are in Australia.

5. Australia placed 8th in the world in the University System Ranking.

6. $200M of the annual government investment is allotted on international scholarships.

7. Australian universities feature in the top 50 ranked universities in the world in the following study areas: arts and humanities, clinical, pre-clinical and health, engineering and technology, life sciences, physical sciences and social sciences.

8. 2.5 million international alumni of Australian institutions are making a difference around the world.

9. Australia has 15 Nobel Prize laureates.

10. Over one billion people around the world actually rely on Australian discoveries and innovations every day like the penicillin, IVF, ultrasound, WiFi, bionic ear, Cervical Cancer Vaccine and the black box.

Impressive, right? Well, good news for those who wish to study in Australia because currently, the Australian Government is promoting studying in Australia because they are trying to solve some major issues in their country such as low population rate (with roughly 23 million only) and lack of skilled people (as only 15% are college graduates).

Since the Australian Government is promoting this visa, the have placed certain benefits for people who will take this opportunity. Some of these are:

1. If you study in Australia, you are allowed to work 20 hours per week during the semesters and unlimited number of hours during your semester breaks.

2. You may automatically bring your spouse (or live-in partner) who are also allowed to work by the government.

3. Children will also be given visas.

4. The show money requirement can be shown by other people so it does not need to be inside the bank of the student.

5. If you finish a Bachelor or Masters course in Australia, you are qualified to get an additional 2-4 year temporary visa which is more than enough time to file for your permanent residency.
