    Hello fellow engineers. I have a concern regarding the assessing body in Australia. I am a mechanical engineer, however, my experience is in facility management and operations-maintenance of buildings. According sa mga nabasa ko sa immigration website, EA ang ang nag-aassess for mechanical engineers and Vetassess naman for facility manager. Do you have any idea which way dapat? Thanks!

    @cen28 - choose your occupation code carefully..
    - which one will give you a higher chance positive assessment
    - which one has higher occupation limit/slots
    - which one is in SOL/CSOL and/or State list.. your visa type will depend on this..

    @cen28,

    same tau. ME din ako. at building maintenance din ang job ko sa Phils for over 5yrs. Nagwork nako sa mga supermarkets and dept stores. and even sa mga malls. nagwork din ako sa sm megamall as duty officer handling only air conditioning system pero BMS. I can say that un ung tingin kong biggest a/c facility sa pilipinas and probably sa buong mundo.

    nandito nako sa melbourne, sa EA ako nagpa-assess at up until now wla pang results, may hiningi lang silang additional docs.

    nag-pm ako sau tsong, read mo neh.

    thanks.

    @cen28 hi na settle na ba to? hmm, putting in my 5 cents: sa facility management naman merong relevant Mechanical Engg? I emailed Vetassess kase in my case, bachelors ko Chemical but yung field or line of work ko is closely related to Envi Eng so Envi Engr ang ninominate ko, under EA na yun. But still, i received notice of shortcoming because yung bachelors degree units ko does not qualify an equivalent of Environmental Engr graduate of Australia; along with the your career episodes, malaking weight din kase yung TOR or the units that you have taken in college, so i would suggest Mechanical as your nominated, then sa EA magpa assess... ;-)

    @pontsiano,

    Pwede ba matanong kung ano ung mga shortcomings na cnb mo nung nagpaEA assess ka as enviro engr and yet licensed chem engr ka?

    I hav a fren kc ngaun n ngppursue of going here and totally hnd related ung lisensya nya sa ipapa-assess nyang occupation. Licensed ECE sya pero as project builder ang ipapaassess nyang occupation. Nalinya kasi sya sa construction sa maynilad. Civil works in short. Kaya hindi konek tlga. Mahihirapan ba sya sa EA nyan?

    Gusto ko lang sya tulungan.

    @lester_lugtu brad magandang umaga!
    yung shortcoming na sinabi ng assessor from EA is hindi ako pwede ma assess as Professional Envi Engr kase need ata ng 4yrs bachelor's degree of Environmental... I nominated Envi Engg kase closely related sya sa work experience ko and my job title was Environmental Specialist Engr although we were basically dealing with chemicals pa rin... tsaka i thought mas makakapasok ako if Envi kase sabi dun sa skillselect:

    As there are still high levels of interest from prospective skilled migrants in the following six occupations, pro rata arrangements for these occupational groups will continue:

    Chemical and Materials Engineers
    Electronics Engineers
    Other Engineering Professionals
    ICT Business and Systems Analysts
    Software and Applications Programmers
    Telecommunications Engineering Professionals

    pero, sa friend mo, if strong naman yung back up sa nominated occupation, i mean in my case kase ambiguous sya kase kahit envi engr yung job title ko, mas "chemical" pa rin sya in nature... if your friend has a strong evidence of the nominated occupatiion, di naman sya mahihirapan sa EA, i reckon... and besides, magsa-suggest si EA ng direction if ever merong shortcomings:

    Dear XXXXXXXX,

    I am writing regarding the assessment of your Competency Demonstration Report, which was received by Engineers Australia on 22 July 2013.

    I have reviewed your Competency Demonstration Report application, and advise the following shortcoming in your submission:

    · the career episodes and qualification you have presented do not support an assessment outcome as Professional Environmental Engineer (ANZSCO 233915) but Chemical Engineer ANZSCO 233111

    · Environmental Engineer outcome would require a 4 year Bachelor of Environmental Engineering.

    Your migration skills assessment outcome would be:

    1 Chemical Engineer ANZSCO 233111

    2 Engineering Technologist ANZSCO 233914

    Engineers Australia will be pleased to finalise your assessment as soon as you indicate the option suitable for your situation.

    Yours sincerely

    Nsangou Issah MIEAust |Qualifications & Skills Assessor

    Hope this helps brad... ;-) @lester_lugtu

    So bale nagpa-assess ka na lang as chem engr pdn, tama?

    Ung frend ko kc after passing ng board exam ng ece, right away sa maynilad na sya ngwork as project in charge s mga piping works ng maynilad.

    Ang iniisip ko kasi mabigyan man sya ng points under employment, bka hindi naman sya mbgyan ng points sa education attainment. Hinahabol nya din kc ang skillselect 60pts.

    Ano kya mganda nyang gawin?

    Thanks tsong

    @lester_lugtu brad, chineck ko to sa

    http://www.visabureau.com/australia/anzsco/jobs/construction-project-manager-australia.aspx

    di rin naman sya ma assess as ECE diba kase non practicing sya tas yung basis dito yung CDR career episodes... so mas strong yung proj manager niya:

    Construction Project Manager

    Plans, organises, directs, controls and coordinates construction of civil engineering and building projects, and the physical and human resources involved in the construction process.

    Tasks

    interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
    coordinating labour resources, and procurement and delivery of materials, plant and equipment
    consulting with Architects, Engineering Professionals and other professionals, and Technical and Trades Workers
    negotiating with building owners, property developers and subcontractors involved in the construction process to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
    preparing tenders and contract bids
    operating and implementing coordinated work programs for sites
    ensuring adherence to building legislation and standards of performance, quality, cost and safety
    arranging submission of plans to local authorities
    building under contract, or subcontracting specialised building services
    overseeing the standard and progress of subcontractors' work
    arranging building inspections by local authorities
    Alternative Titles

    Building and Construction Manager
    Specialisations
    No data exists
    Minimum Requirements
    No data exists

    If the above ANZSCO code 1331-11 for Construction Project Manager is your current occupation then you have a very good chance of qualifying for a skilled visa. For more detailed visa information, please complete a no obligation Online Assessment and select a call back time when a Visa Bureau migration consultant will call you and explain the migration process in detail.

    @lester_lugtu oo brad nagpa assess ako as Chemical Engr kase pinapili ako to finalize my assessment if i like to be assessed as a chemical engr or chem eng technologist. chemical engr na pinili ko...

    tsaka napansin ko sa SOL brad, yung project manager walang minimum requirement; sa envi eng or chem eng meron nakalagay na:

    Minimum Requirements
    Registration or Licensing may be required

    so para sa licensing, need yung bachelors degree na minimum requirement...

    hope this helps... @lester_lugtu

    @pontsiano,

    Thanks sa msgs.
    Actually, project manager is way to big for her. Project engr lang sya sa maynilad. Doing some office works, billing ng contractor, documentation lng.

    Posible kaya na inominate pa din nya ang ece, though maynilad sya, iconnect na lang nya ung ece sa work place nya?

    Like, kunwari piping related project, hawak nya ung mga contractor supplying electronic relays for control. Or kapag may sira sa project at electronics related sya ung 1st in line...

    In short, gagawan na lang nya ng way...

    @lester_lugtu if related naman sa ECE yung career episodes, then okay pa din yun... pipili lng sya ng 3 career episodes or specific projects kung saan akma din yung ECE, like yung electronic relays, para at least may connection...

    @pontsiano,

    Malaki ba posibility na if ever u gain 60 pts eh mainvite ka to lodge 189 or 190?

    O need pa din na mejo mas mataas sa 60? Like 65 or 70. Kasi as of the moment, ang dami tlgang kalaban.

    @lester_lugtu yun yung reason ko na nag envi engr muna ako kase daming kalaban din sa chemical engg, at saktong 60 points lang ako, but i was still invited... so possible pa rin yan na ma invite kase yun naman yung minimum points requirement, yun nga lang, pag masyadong maraming kalaban, they will always invite first yung mga matataas ang points, tapos pag wala na, pupunta sila sa 60 points at first come first serve basis din. ;-)

    @pontsiano,

    Actually kakaemail lang din skn positive outcome ko from EA. Mech engr naman ako. Pero hindi ako makapagcontinue sa skillselect kasi writing ko 6.5 so nasa 55 pts lang ako.

    Goodness, im under dependant visa ng 457 ng partner ko. Balak na din nya magapply ng PR visa early next year, isasabit ulit ako hehehe.

    Sna lang this time, kht i have recognised bs degree na d2, may mga pumansin nang mga employer. Which i doubt.

    Right now, odd job padin ako. Balak ko sna mgaral kht mga cert courses lng kapag PR na kmi pra makamura at mgkaron ng additional points sa pagaapply.

    Actually, ang challenge tlga eh hnd ang EA o visa application, ang challenge really eh ung paghahanap ng trabaho d2 na based sa experience ntn sa pinas.

    @pontsiano,

    3months nako d2 under 457 visa - dependant type. Next year pagnagapply partner ko ng 189 didikit padin ako sa kanya. So 189 visa na din ako nun so no need na magretake ng ielts.

    Problem is pano ko ipapasok d2 ung experience natin sa pinas sa work d2.

    Building maintenance ako sa pinas for 5yrs.

    At kht recognised na ng EA ang bs degree ko, malay ba ng mga puti d2. Apakahirap sa lagay natin na pumasok sa bansa nila pagdating sa skills recognition.

    Need ko pa din b mgaral more pra lng msb n meron n tlga aqng australian degree?

    O maghanap pa din ng work na mukhang related sa experience ko?

    O mgpatuloi nlng s pggng janitor d2 hanggang makaipon at umuwi nlng ng pinas after?

    Ung totoo, hnd msma ang odd job n npsukan ko.

    At mas higit cgro kung related sa skill ko ung work ko, sad truth is impossible tlga.

    @lester_lugtu ano yung oddjob mo jan pre? anyway, kapit lang, anjan ka na eh, na try mo na rin ba sa seek.com.au?
    gudlak and all the best for you... wag lang sigurong ma discourage... kahit saan naman siguro, even not in australia, sadyang ganito ang phase na madadaanan natin, what is important is yung lakas ng loob at full determination kahit na parang imposible na.

    @pontsiano Hi sir, kamusta po? A friend of mine who's already a retired Engineer in Aus advised me to pursue accreditation with EA rather than Vetassess. We are both in the same field which is Fac.Mgmt. It doesn't matter naman daw since we are still performing mechanical engineering in a FM industry.

    I just have a question, ganon po ba talaga kahirap maghanap ng work until now? Or for specific states lang? Is a 5 year job experience not enough comparing it with other applicants?

    Hi sa lahat ng engineers!

    Just wanna ask lang kung possible ba tau makapag-masters d2? If given we're PR, pasok din ba tau sa govt funding? Ang mahal kc ng tuition s univ. Pero kung maipapasok ang govt funding, mejo makakaya natin. Anyway, part time study lng naman gusto ko.

    Ang plan ko next yr, sa univ. of melbourne. Hehehe, mataas ba masyado pangarap ko? Iniisip ko lang kung kakayanin ng educational bckground ko ang mkpasok dun.

    Any story here na pwede i-share?

    Thanks.
