Is It Wise to Upgrade our Linkedin Account?

baronannbaronann SydneyPosts: 98Member
hello everyone, im not a very active poster here in the forum, just a mere reader/lurker. But I must say that I have learned immensely from everyone's experience and wisdom, and for that I am very thankful.

Just a thought that came in my head when I learned that Linkedin is a very powerful tool in jobseeking, just wondering if it is wise to upgrade it to premium account? I noticed kasi upon browsing that most Sydney recruiters are in my 3rd-degree connection na and to be able to read their profile kelangan premium account, and if i attempt to connect naman, it requires me to enter their email address at least, so it leaves me no choice but to send them an inmail message which mostly was left unreplied. Im thinking, perhaps they saw from my profile that Im not yet in Australia, could that be it? or its much better if i just upgrade my account? kaso mahal naman...

Anyways, your thoughts will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hello Baronann, I actually thought about that too while I was in the Philippines, pero hindi ko tinuloy. Kung hindi ka nila rineplyan, you can take that as a sign na hindi ka rin nila matutulungan sa job hunting mo.

Nag-apply ako sa atin, at nakakuha naman ng invitation for interviews while in Manila. Pero sa huli, nakuha ko ang aking present job nung nasa Melbourne na ako. The most helpful website is Seek.com.au, and don't underestimate the connections that you'll get once you move here sa Oz.

Of course, iba-iba ang swerte natin, maybe you'll be luckier than me! ;-)

Good luck sa adventure in Oz, its worth it!

Not necessary to upgrade I think, but you should keep it updated because employers mostly check social accounts for prospect candidates..lalo na yung FB if you don't want them to discover your other side better change your profile name temporarily.

Better to upgrade kung kelangan mo talaga ng trabaho.
May nareceived akong email last week lang na if open daw ba ako sa new opportunities. Yung account ko sa LinkedIn ay yung normal lang (no fee). Pero sinulat ko yung skills and experiences sa profile ko.

Some employers prefer nila na dito na sa Au ang applicant din.

    Good luck

The company who employed me found me on LinkedIn. As in direct employer na siya, no recruiters or middlemen. He viewed me on LinkedIn, I added him, tapos nagmessage na siya about a job opportunity.

So I guess depende sa industry, it pays to keep it updated (and siguro mas okay kung may testimonials, etc.) Good luck!

update no need to upgrade to premium. Kasi tuloy2 charging nyan sa credit cards mo unless patigil mo talaga. madami headhunters at employers jan sa linkedin in. Mga opening sa seek, nanjan din nakapost. Mas maganda pa makikita mo ung nagpost mismo ng jobs and pwede mo contact at private message. I've got a lot of job opportunities/ enquiries because of Linkedin account.

Yun nga lang pwede ka ma search via google. So kung need mo privacy may settings nman, na pwede ka lang makita ng may mga linkedin account lang din. Sana meron din syang setting to block someone hahaha
