For my case, wala ako kaalam alam sa mga sasakyan kasi nga mahirap ang buhay sa pinas.
Kakabili ko lang this April, ang ginawa ko, ng sesearch ako ng mga 2nd hand Honda Jazz then found one being sold by a dealer. Upon checking the track record of the dealer and seems okay, I ask my friend to have a test drive since i don't know how to drive yet at that time after checking the car, test drive, checking the car logbook, have some price negotiation at its done deal.

thanks for sharing. do you mind sharing more information on the deal with a dealer? After choosing a car and deciding that you are going to buy a specific car, what's next? bayad agad? then any paper works? may iba pa ba kailangang gawin?

it depends on your scenario, like if you go on financing (bank, 3rd party or from the dealer itself) or pay by cash.

Yung sa akin kasi ng set ako ng specific amount (prior than than I take advantage of the promotion of my credit card na balance transfer payable in 2 years with 0 interest). Kasi if you are going tru financing syempre may interest yun at monthly ang bayaran.

Back to dealer, if he is in rush to make sale and no other prospect buyer then you can negotiate for the price (really depends on the scenario). For my case, after inspecting the car and the logbook. I noticed that the car was not been through the scheduled maintenance / logbook servicing for a year. Meaning meron siya na skip (as per logbook should be every 6 months or 10000kms run). So ayun i negotiate if he can lower the price and I told him I am paying in cash. He gave me 1000aud discount and offered to drop the car at my place since I dont know how to drive at that time.

For paper works, he did it all, usually if through dealer this is the case. All I have to do is wait for the response from DOT for the transfer of ownership document and misc fee to be paid.
Like rego and tax stamp.

If you're buying direct from the car dealer, don't go straight sa store. Check nyo muna sa website nila at hanapin yung car na gusto nyo. You will notice na yung presyo nila sa website at sa mismong yard ay malaki ang pagkakaiba. Strategy nila yun para kunwari dumating ka ng yard at tumawad, ibibigay sayong presyo ay yung nasa website. Normally around $2-3k din and difference, so akala mo nakatawad ka yun pala hindi naman. At ang masama pa nito ay kung dumiretso ka sa yard at hindi nakipagbargain, malamang malaki pa nalugi mo.

Pagpasok ng opisina, marami iaalok sayong add ons like car tint, leather/ fabric protection, extended warranty at kung ano ano pa, wag na wag ka kukuha sa kanila. Maidadagdag mo yan paunti unti sa next time at sa mas mababang halaga.

Try to shop around sa different banks ng mababang %, at yun ang sasabihin mo sa car dealer once inalok ka nila ng in house financing. Tatapatan nila ung pinakamababang offer ng bank or much better kung mas mababa pa.

Normally iregister na nila ang car for 3-6 months, try to negotiate for 1 year rego.
