Engineers Australia or ACS? Help please!!

Hello Pinoyau!

My girlfriend and I are currently in a dilemma as we are not sure which assessing body she should be applying for. Our initial plan was to have her assessed by Engineers Australia (she’s a licensed ECE) as she has worked in the oil and gas industry as a designer of pressure/flow meters systems. She worked there for almost three years before switching careers and landed a job at a software company. She has been working at her new job since November last year and will be working there as we start working on our requirements for visa 189.

We’re at a loss whether EA or ACS should be the assessing body. Given that she has an engineering degree and very good experience in her previous job, should we pursue EA’s assessment? We tried Respall’s free review of CV for a recommendation but they too weren’t able to give a firm suggestion. Please let me know your thoughts or previous similar cases so we’ll know how to do it from here.

Thanks a lot!

    if u want to claim points for skilled employment go for EA kc mas konti lng experience as IT so make use of experience kc d higher points d earlier ul be invited.

    i helped a friend lately (computer engineer diploma) and since ung experience nia is mostly systems engineer task, sa ACS kami nagpa assess and positive nmn kc ung work nia is systems engineer sa mga electronic equipments.

    bsta make sure lng na u can prove the profession relevant to the description na nkalagay sa anzsco .so kung Electronics Engr profession dapat ung tasks na ma enumerate sa company letter should MATCH (not exactly lahat or word for word eto ang work nia) this:

    233411: ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
    Description: Designs, develops, adapts, installs, tests and maintains electronic components, circuits and systems used for computer systems, communication systems, entertainment, transport and other industrial applications. Registration or licensing may be required.

    if electrical engineering nmn mag fall ung responsibilties and duties nia sa work is dapat mag match sa description nato:

    ANZSCO 233311: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
    Designs, develops and supervises the manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of equipment, machines and systems for the generation, distribution, utilisation and control of electric power. Registration or licensing may be required.

    goodluck!

    The thing is, minimum work experience to claim points for overseas work exp is at least three years. Di kasi sya umabot ng three years dun sa previous work nya.

    Kung sa ACS naman kasi sya, liban sa wala pa syang one year (so no chance again on claiming points), mas mahihirapan sya magsulat ng career episodes since di pa ganun kadami experience nya.

    Kung sa EA ba kami magpapaassess and previous work exp ang gamitin is hindi magiging conflict kung dedeclare din na employed sya ngayon sa ibang industry? Thank you!!

    My suggestion is to apply with EA. How many years has she been working in the IT field? ACS requires specific number of years depending on degree. They can deduct from 2, 4, 5, or even 6 years (see https://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/7324/Summary-of-Criteria-2014.pdf) . I don’t think she will qualify to apply with ACS.

    @ She's been with her current job for less than a year. She just started last Nov. Really considering EA now. Pero hindi nga ba magiging conflict na IT related na ang work nya ngayon and hindi na sa engineering?

    its not going to be conflict. since indi nmn kay mag c claim for skilled employment . have an EA assessment lng sa qualifications nia. yes she needs to write career episodes so she can write career episodes like thesis nia bfore..OJT and the like . bsta ung career episode is relative dun sa course nia.

    everything is in the EA migration booklet.

    eto ung sa career episode:

    A career episode is an account of your engineering
    education and/or work experience. Each career episode
    focuses upon a specific period or distinct aspect of your
    engineering activity. Each career episode must focus
    on a different period or aspect of your engineering
    activity. Each episode should focus on how you applied
    your engineering knowledge and skills in the nominated
    occupation.
    You may base your career episode upon:
    • an engineering task undertaken as part of your
    educational program;
    • a project you have worked on or are currently
    working on;
    • a specific position that you occupied or currently
    occupy (in this case, the career episode must
    comprise more than a mere duty statement);
    • a particular engineering problem that you were
    required to solve

    pag indi kc accredited qualification (ung indi ka nag aral sa sydney, dublin etc) need mo tlaga mag sulat ng CDR so dun tau mag f fall :D

    u can stil write nmn her less than 3yrs experience to support the career episodes she will write in her CDR. kahit indi 3yrs u need to write it parin if ung careeer episode mo involves a position na need ng details . tho u cant claim points for such experience kc below 3yrs sia. u wont opt for skill employment assessment so sa result letter mo ung qualification lg i assess nila na yes u are indeed an engineer as per australian standards.

    another point if ever shes working for an engineering field pa lets say 2yrs na sia now sa company (currently working) she can opt for skill assesment and by the time na ma invite or mag eoi if same parin work nia if she tursn 3yrs by that time pde parin ma ka claim ng 3points automatic na nga yan sa system :D

    goodluck!
