@rolly04 sir i think try nyo muna magsecure ng work sa AU... Then if settled na kayo tsaka nyo na lng give up sg pr nyo... Unless you badly need the money from your cpf... Take consideration nyo din po yung family nyo (if meron)
Pro positive po ako na magkakawork kayo sa down under :)
God bless po kung ano man maging decision nyo :)

Recently, i was granted a provisional resident visa (valid for four years) - visa 496. The visa will allow me to apply permanent resident visa subject to conditions: live in Melbourne for 2 years and work for at least 1 year (full time work).

PR ako dito sa Singapore. I'm planning to move to Australia in April 2014. Should i give up my Singapore PR bago ako pumunta sa Oz?

Kasi naman ang tagal bago na-approve visa ko, it took 6 years and 41 days.
To give you hope in your journey, migration is not an age issue it is just depends on timing and opportunities available. I have an uncle who migrated at age 38 and ok naman sya ngayon. Regarding giving up your SG PR it depends on your mindset and preference. Things to think about: Am I willing to go back to SG if my australia attempt is unsuccessful? Am I willing not to touch my CPF while I am trying my luck in Australia? If I am not so successful, how much more money am I willing to throw at my investment in living a good life in australia?

Kahit sa SG po do you know that locals upon reaching age 40 most of them become taxi drivers? So para sa akin, once you embark on your australia journey malabo na may babalikan ka pa sa SG. Atsaka if you keep your CPF with SG, there is a risk of you not getting it after reaching a certain age because in australia you cannot get your "cpf" or super until retirement if in the event you renounce your Australia PR. There are suggestions about implementing that in SG as well. Para sa akin it is too late to turn back at risk of closing of your australian dream. The younger we are mas maraming oras pa tayo mag dilly dally but in your situation malas/swerte na it took 6 years to get your australian visa (for me it took 2 years for others 6 months). We cannot say na malas because you never know that now is the correct time for you. 6 years ago maybe you were not ready for the challenges that you are about to face when entering australia. For some it took 1 day to get a job, others 2-3 months, and others 8 months. Hindi mo po alam kapalaran mo at this point in time but if you are unable to get a job, no choice ka at makipag sapalaran sa australia as most other people did. You are just in a better position because you have 6 years or more worth of cpf :)

Para sa akin PR in australia is definitely greater than SG PR but if you got work permit it is the equivalent of SG PR para sa akin minus the ability to buy property yata. You spend on your healthcare in SG and being work permit in australia will be the same. The main difference lang ay are you ready to change your working environment? Baka well adapted ka na sa asian environment that you find it difficult to slow down. Isa pang issue I had with pagiging SG PR is that it is just a fake PR from my point of view. It is just a working visa with ability to buy property and ability to "save" with the SG government. Other than that no other benefits unless you become an SG citizen which does not allow dual citizenship. So take the plunge na. Basta sufficient ang desire mo to live your life in australia, magagawan at magagawan mo po yan ng paraan.

@wizz @sharean07 @packerx @filsgoz thank you sa mga inputs. Malaking tulong yung mga comments nyo to help me decide.

Anyway, i still have 6 months before i move to Oz in April 2014.

Cguro try ko din mag-apply as member ng CPA Australia, baka sakaling makatulong ito sa paghahanap ng work.

congratulations on your visa grant @rolly04 - are you an accountant? yeah, hit and miss kasi yang Associate CPA designation without local experience. For my wife, she is an associate CPA but this was not a factor when she applied for a job. no harm in getting this though.

@TasBurrfoot yeah i'm a chartered accountant of singapore.

Di ko nga sure kung associate ba ang ibibigay ng CPA Australia na designation ko, kasi may mutual recognition agreement between CPA Australia and Institute of SG Chartered Accountants.

That's true, local work experience is still the best weapon.

All caused siya by SG being too open which hindi naman natin masisi at we were once job hunters wanting to get a job outside of pinas.

Ako nag decide to not stay in SG anymore because mahirap na mag PR. Plus all the cooling measures for SG property market, parang close to impossible na maka buy ng house. Not to mention that I'm a not young, di na ako maka take ng housing loan na malaki.

Pa share naman experience niyo on how you guys arrange your accomodation from SG to OZ and timing in terms of when you asked the movers to packed your things... any of u guys send your things for shipment before entering australia?

Shipping we did the week of our flight and addressed to relatives in australia. Mahirap po maghanap ng accomodation from outside of australia. Otherwise baka mag motel style kayo nyan at dapat kokonti lang gamit niyo talaga while you look for a place to stay. Although may option sa movers namin to keep your things while you look for a place to stay but dapat finalized na ang address bago pa pumasok sa australia for immigration purposes.

Visa Grant December 2012.... masaya.... and then the real problem begins. I prefer to have work muna before going to Australia, i have sent multiple applications (spammer... hahahhah) but most of them requires me to be in australia already before they can proceed with the applications. so a lot of rejected applications. Then one company.... called me up for a telephone interview.... then after one week... another phone interview (same company), then after a week 2 hours technical interview via skype... then akala ko tapos na... then nakareceive ako ng email for final interview but they want it face to face interview.... i said yes without thinking kung saang lupalop ba ng australia ang company na ito... in 1 week, i book the return tickets... book a hotel for 3 days.... spend a chunk of money.... i made the trip... attend the interview and went back to SG..... super pagod pero masaya inisip ko na lang na namasyal ako mag isa... sojourn.... then after a week ayun may offer letter na sila... the suweldo is not bad... pwede ng pang simula..... so i signed the contract, gave my 3 weeks notices, 4th week fly to Pinas to sya bye bye to family and friends... then went back to SG ( ayoko dumaan sa PH immigration papuntang AU baka kung ano ano pang hingin sakin). from SG say good bye to long time house mates..... then fly over here... the company paid na for everything (plane tickets,,, temporary accomodation for 3 weeks) and paid for the our new apartment for 3 months. We got our brand new car na..... suv para astig... joke,,,... hirap kasi mag commute dito....

All these happened in two months...... super dami ng blessings....

    Dasal dasal lang mga kapatid......

hope my story will encourage others not to loose hope....
