if anyone is interested, i have a spare room (semi-furnished) with mattress and 1 tall boy good for 1 person for 180 aud per WEEK direct debit preferred. the room itself is quite spacious but we're happy to take in just 1 single person, female only please. all bills included and will share internet (just don't overuse it cause there's 3 of us in the flat).
the place is in oberon street coogee, sydney. it's about 15 mins to coogee beach, 20 mins. walk to prince of wales hospital/ sydney children's hospital, 25 mins. to the randwick shops/ church. bus stops about 3 houses down route x77, 377, 376 which goes all the way to circular quay in the cbd.
we're a couple in our late 20s originally from cebu recently migrated to nsw from auckland, nz. i work as a nurse in sydney children's and my husband is a doctor in the philippines and studying in melbourne to be able to practice in oz. hubby commutes.
we're pretty quiet people.. we love going to the movies which is about 10 mins. from our place. send me an email at [email protected]. thanks!

pasensya na my tagalog is not very good hence the english post. pero will try to accommodate naman if you speak tagalog..pasensya na lang sa tagalog with bisaya accent.. hehehehe..:)

@diane16 ok please do..ang mahirap kasi sa eastern suburbs. the only big place to work here is prince of wales, sydney children's and royal women's hospital.. though 1 ride lang din naman sya to circular quay about 20mins bus... we haven't met that much pinoys in our area like i said out of 110 nurses in our unit..there's only 2 of us na pilipino. so if you know someone single female and working in randwick/ coogee or the cbd.. this isn't such a bad place to live:) thanks again diane and good luck:)

@olan my husband is a doctor too:) PGH graduate po sya.. he is enrolled to review for the amc q exam at victoria medical postgraduate foundation in melbourne. the review is about 3600 aud po.. 2 months 8 hours a day na review po sya. kasi mahirap po ang amc q specially for us na american based exam.. the amc website recommended this a a review place or the royal college of general practitioner in nsw who has review courses also for amc q.. pero kasi the next intake is february pa. our friend is also taking the amc q next month na po..she finished her fellowship at a melbourne hospital.

the process as of now is like this.. pass the amc q..pwdi na po mag work even without the clinicals yet. but you must take the clinicals within 2-3 years of passing the amc q. the thing is since 2010 ata they now require all foreign doctors to do muna work in the rural/ regional or outback.. pero it is not bad work po.. starting pay for GPs is about 100,000 aud annually!!! starting pay po pa lang yan.. not including penal/ OT rates.

then after 3-5 years sa outback and given clinicals are finished then pwdi na po mag residency ULIT sa cities.. like another friend who is now a registrar (resident) in brisbane. she has finished her residency in the philippines but unfortunately that is not recognized in oz. kahit consultant level in the philippines..back to zero talaga in oz. there are 2 filipino doctors where i work, same story din.. tapos na sa pinas.. finished their exams, finished their stints in the outback and now work in sydney.

so what most filipinos do is become General practitioners. GPs in oz is a speciality!!! all patients have to go to the GPs.. you can't go to a specialist unless referred by a GP. the GPs are frontline doctors.. so what we are planning with my husband, god willing he passes his amc q exam is that he will become a GP then do his stint in the outback as a GP.

kunti lang po filipino doctors here who are specializing or who opt to go back being a resident..most will opt to become a GP for the following reasons:
    1. GP pay can go upto 400,000 aud annually. remember lahat po ng patients have to go through the GP..some pay from their own pockets but since health here is subsidized, the govt. pays for check up through medicare.
    2. pagod na po ung mga pinoy doctors... trained na sila sa pinas na parang trapo ung training , then study na for the exams, then stint pa sa outback.. medyo too much times and age has passed na to undergo specialist training ulit and when you come to oz with a very decent pay.. you would want to enjoy the quality of life na din kasi eh.

filipino GPs in sydney.. there are about 5 that i know of.. i don't know them personally pero nasa list of filipino speaking doctors po sila if you google them:) our GP from new zealand was a filipino and he has 2 filipino friends who are now doctors here too as a GP.

anyway, good luck to your wife!!! i hope you can share how her exam went:) God bless to both of you;) my husband will not take until next year..after his review with vmpf, he is planning to review one more time with rcgp kasi it will be here in sydney lang so quite handy before he sits the exam:)

also of note... vmpf and rcgp also have reviews for clinicals in case your wife is interested. clinicals exam have actual patients..some are actors too. i had a pt. who was a test patient for the clinicals.. but the parent stand in was an actor and they have dialogues (questions) for the doctors and the examiner will grade you base on how you answer the parent (actor)..this was according to my patient's (real mum) she was there also pero she did not say anything..they get a gift card by the examining body:D

Mam, li_i_ren, I hope you dont't mind me asking. Ano pong name nung kakilala niyo na nasa Brisbane na? Para naman may mapagtunangan ako how the practice is over there. I'll be going as Registrar din.

Also, if your hubby is taking MCQ, I can share my experience with him, bago na po format ngayon. For MCQ, self-review lang po ginawa ko. Wala naman review centers sa Pinas kaya sariling sikap talaga. If you like, I can also give him my recall questions - questions na lumabas sa actual exam ko in MCQ. Baka makatulong because my exam is pretty recent.

Pero sa part 2, I plan to enrol in RACGP course na dahil mas mahirap daw. Sana may makasabay akong Pinoy. P.S. I was UP PGH din po. Ano specialty ni hubby niyo? :)
