Australian simcard

Hello again peeps,

Is it possible to ask someone to get an Au sim for me? The thing is, im still in Manila and il only be arriving to Au on Jan.10. However, some online job applications require an Au number, which obviously i cant provide. Hence, this question. A friend of my sister's is coming to Manila this weekend from Melbourne. So I thought of asking her to acquire one for me. But is it possible or the simcard has fo be strictly registered to the person who will be using it? Thanks in advance.
