I have posted this under vetassess thread, posting it here as well sorry for double posting:

Hello po. Just want to ask medyo confuse po kasi ako. I have 2 terms left to complete my dual course: Diploma in Project Management and Advanced Diploma in Program Management. I know I need assessment to apply for graduate visa and I am aiming for Management Consultant under vetassess. Upon checking kasi sa qualification requirements ng nominated occupation nakalagay "qualification assessed as comparable to AQF Bachelor degree or higher".

Does this mean na di papasok ung current courses ko since diploma lang cya?

I have completed Bachelor degree sa Pinas, pero pagkakaintindi ko is hinde pwede combine qualification ipaassess ko and only Australian study lng ang pede ko ipaassess when applying for visa 485.

I hope someone can give me some info. Thank you.

I was able to secure a new COE kasi I needed one more term to complete my Bachelor's in IT. I have lodged my Student Visa application noong August 8th without a health check, kasi naka stage 4 lockdown na noon si Melbourne (andito ako that time). I was given until December 7th to undergo health check.

Nakapag health check naman ako ng November 23, so kungbaga, all set na, antay na lang ng grant. Now hindi ko sure kung igagrant pa kasi as of November 30, graduate na ako kasi nacomplete ko na 'yung subjects. Sabi rin ng education agent ko, up to 6 months ang processing, so I'm afraid baka madeny.

December 18 idedeactivate yung student e-mail at credentials ko. I was advised by my agent to apply na for a Graduate Visa (may possible akong pathway to 189).

    Thank you in advance!

    Timeline:
2018 Feb - Arrived in Australia (Student Visa)
2020 Nov - Finished degree (Bachelor's in IT)
2022 Jan - Skills Assessment Result, Suitable for Migration under ICT BA 261111
2022 Feb - EOI lodged with 85 points
    2022 Jun - Passed NAATI
    2022 Jul - Re-lodged EOI with 90 points
2022 Aug - Lodged ROI (VIC)
    2022 Dec - ITA received - 189
    2023 Dec - 189 GRANTED ♥

    Thank you Lord!

For example, nag lodge na wala pang completion letter at transcript. No no ito sa mga temporary graduate visa. Also english requirement, police clearance at medicals - mahalaga itong ma pass

I believe overseas qualifications can be included in VETASSESS applications (otherwise all those people overseas could never migrate). The fact that VETASSESS specified "AQF Bachelor degree or higher" means that the overseas qualifications has to be assessed to be equivalent to an Australian degree. It will be up to VETASSESS to say whether your PH bachelor's is equivalent to an Australian one.

Just a side comment though, as far as I know, Management Consultant is more relevant to Business rather than Project Management. If you have a Commerce or Business degree, then you can see if you can get assessed for Management Consultant occupation. If you don't and you are only relying on using your Advanced Diploma in Project Management to get assessed for Management Consultant, you should rethink your nominated occupation, since they are two different occupations. Perhaps look into Project Management roles. Just because an occupation includes the word "management" does not mean your Project Management diploma will be an exact fit. You need to really look into the tasks/duties of the occupation.

    Hi guys,

@helloiamalexa info on Australian Study Requirement https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/temporary-graduate-485/australian-study-requirement

I believe yung Eligible qualification is yung ipinapaassess sa assessment body depending sa occupation selected mo. pwedeng mong ipaconsider yung australian study mo or pwede rin na gamitin is yung previous tertiary qualification mo overseas (i.e. college sa philippines). this is only what I know so better follow it up with research din online.

@helloiamalexa member of family unit is yung spouse and children lang. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-text/eplus/Pages/elp-h0175.aspx

Hi guys, any info on outcomes (grants/refusals) for the 485 extension applications? It was opened late January and was wondering if there have been issues around eligibility for some people. I am planning to apply before my current 485 expires in April.

Currently naka SV po ako studying a diploma in IT and advanced dip network security and, gained my bachelor's degree in Phil. My current studies help po for my development work as a software engineer here focused on the security side. Mayroon na po akong positive assessment from ACS as a software engineer (for my 189/190 EOI) ang question ko po is plan ko po mag lodge ng temp graduate visa prior my SV expires this year-end and if given no ITA for PR to gain more experience, do I need another skills assessment from ACS for this or my positive skills assessment is enough na po? Appreciate po inputs nyo :)

    Hi @mariamarie

Depende ito sa course na kinuha mo. Kung CRICOS-registered yung course mo, isa nakalista sa baba at 92 weeks yung duration of study, di kailangan ng skills assessment since under ng Post-Study Work stream.

    • bachelor degree

      • bachelor (honours) degree
      • masters by coursework degree
      • masters (extended) degree
      • masters by research degree
      • doctoral degree

Hello @helloiamalexa thank you po but the link you sent above is for post-study, ah clarifying po, sorry forgot to specify sa query ko po- it is for a Temporary Graduate work stream visa : https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/temporary-graduate-485/graduate-work#Eligibility under long term skill list Software Engineer- 261313. I already got a positive skills assessment from ACS as I lodged my EOI for 189/190 last year.

The question po is, can I use kaya yong positive skills assessment ko from ACS when I apply na for Temp Graduate work stream - 485 visa this 4Q? or I really have to lodge another skills assessment for 485 in ACS?

    Hi @mariamarie,

I think kung di nakadeclare yung qualification mo sa assessement na related sa occupation na inonominate mo, then you won't need to apply for a new skills assessment. After reading a couple of times, wala naman akong nakita na requirement to have the Australian study requirement declared.

    Hello everyone,

Currently preparing for my 485 visa application. I did my Certificate III and will finish my Diploma this year in Early Childhood Education and Care. I plan to apply on my own kasi tingin ko naman kaya ko. Question po ko is, is there anyone here who did theirs own their own for the same course? Would love to chat with you rin po to know more details para sure na maayos yung application ko.

Next question, I will finish my studies on December and my student visa is expiring March next year. I already finished all my assessments up to term 4 and my teacher said she could mark my Diploma completed na and issue me a certificate if I want to since I finished early. I answered her no kasi sabi ko if I finish early then I need to process my 485 earlier din. Pero now, napaisip ako, do you think it is a good idea to finish early? Or should I wait until December na lang kung kailan officially matatapos yung course ko?

    Thank you so much po!

I don't know anyone doing Cert 3 in ECE so I can't comment about the application for 485. But for the second question, I'll comment lang based on my understanding about visas (I'm not a migration agent, just an international student too).

I'm not sure if finishing early would affect your student visa validity (might have to confirm that with Home Affairs or something?), but the only benefit I can see is about work rights. As an international student, you have limited work rights as long as your classes are in session, but once you have completed all your requirements and you've finished the term/semester (like bakasyon na), then you don't have work restrictions. So technically if you finish earlier, then you can access the unli work hours until your current visa expires (as compared to working 20 hours/week until December).

But then again, I also don't know if by now you have already completed the required length of study to qualify for 485 visa (16 calendar months minimum). If you have met the Australian study requirements as of today, then you could go ahead and apply for the 485 (you have 6 months to apply for it after getting your completion letter, not from the time of graduation ceremony). If you have not met the Australian study requirements (like if the 16 calendar month is Nov/Dec), it's best to wait it out until you meet the 16 calendar months to avoid issues about eligibility for 485.

For the student visa validity, once you lodge a substantive visa (like 485), you will be granted a bridging visa, but this will only get activated once your existing visa expires and you still haven't received a decision on your new visa application. So you are still bound by the restrictions of your current visa (which carries over to bridging) until the 485 visa is granted (which I heard might take months).

    Hi @athelene!

Thank you so much for the response. Super helpful po ito. I've been doing my research din and have realised na hindi pa ako pede matapos early since as you mentioned po, I don't think I've reached the 16 calendar month requirement ni 485 visa and the 92 weeks of studying din. I'll just have to wait when my course officially ends in December. Mas okay rin kasi it will give me more time to prepare for my 485. Sayang lang yung chance sana to work fulltime if I finish early hehe.

Anyway po, just another question, not sure if you know pero are we required to do a health examination when applying for 485 visa? If so po, would you be able to give me an estimate sa price nya? I know it's still case-to-case basis and depende pa rin sya sa irerequest ni Immig but I just want to prepare my budget din. Thank you po

Hello @jacqbrions , yes required health examination for 485. pero kung may existing ka (if im not mistaken 6 mos or 1 year) di mo na need mag pa medical ulit.

I see. Then I'd say just stick to the original schedule para wala talagang issue in terms of eligibility.

For the health check, alam ko kailangan siya. As @hikari said, if your latest health exam was within the last 12 months, you may not be required to retake it. If it's been more than 12 months, you will get a referral letter indicating the type of health exam you need to get. My last health exam consisted of Medical Examination (501) and Chest X-Ray (502), which cost me around AUD 330 at Bupa in Sydney. It might cost a bit more if you are required to do more tests. I think the biggest expense for the 485 visa is the visa fee itself and the health insurance, because you need to be covered for the 2-year or 18-month validity of the 485 visa (depends on which one applies to you).

Hello @jacqbrions , yes required health examination for 485. pero kung may existing ka (if im not mistaken 6 mos or 1 year) di mo na need mag pa medical ulit.

I'm listing down all the requirements that I need to prepare. Nagbook na rin ako ng PTE ko. I also requested for an AFP National Police Check, I wasn't sure dito sa part na ito which purpose yung pipiliin ko, but I chose "Care, Instruction or Supervision of Children / Care of Disabled Persons / Aged Care Staff / Volunteers" kasi sya yung related sa job ko and magagamit ko rin for future reference pero hindi ko alam if dapat ba ito pinili ko for 485 Visa application. Though the question on Immi says,

So I thought hindi sila naghahanap ng Police Check with specific purpose but nagtatanong lang sila if I applied for one. Also po (sorry daming questions), do you need to submit an NBI Clearance din ba? Nabasa ko rin dito na may ibang nagfill out pa nung Form 80 and Form 1221, do we also need to do that? I've been doing research and yung nakikita ko is puro "optional" lang daw sya but could make an impact on my application. So, napapaisip po ako if I should also do this or not. I'm also filling out yung 485 Visa application para makita ko yung hinihinging info ni Immig but I don't see it and umabot na ako sa last page nung application form (not unless after ko pa magbayad/lodge sya lalabas).

@jacqbrions sa police check ang purpose dapat yung 33 - Immigration/ Citizenship - for supply to the department of home affairs. Hindi reusable ang police check sa ibang purpose so kaylangan mo kumuha specifically for migration purposes ( including 485).

Hindi required NBI for 485.

Oh, no... I should've asked here first bago pala ako nag-apply ng police check. Sayang yung pera T_T. Guess, I'll just have to apply again. Maraming salamat po sa info, I'll be sure to give Immi a call next time para sure din, and I think I will just fill out Form 80 din. If I have any questions, I'll be posting here again. Super thank you po sa tulong nyo

you mean for 485? If i'm not mistaken (others may correct me too), eligible lang ang 485 Post-Study Work stream to those who completed higher education.

But if you're after for Graduate Work stream 485, then you are required to have a positive assessment. However, si ACS nag a-assess lang ng Temporary Graduate (TG) if you have completed an AU bachelor degree or higher. You may refer to their guidelines for more info.
