ako, i've worked in singapore for almost 6 years. maganda ang salary. yun lang, sulit ka sa mga chinese bosses mo. haha. minsan di ko alam pinagkaiba ng sunday sa monday. trabaho, bahay, laba, luto, repeat. pero stagnant ang career ko dito. i will never be a registered surveyor. they take care of their own and their numbers are kept intentionally small. sa australia, i can go back to school, get good experience and in the foreseeable future be registered. even kahit hindi na. the salary working in australia is better than singapore, light years better than pinas. ang australian labor laws much better than singapore which is really employer-centric. another thing is safety. nasa pinas ako ngayon, nagpapahinga before the big move. mapapanuod mo sa tv. rape, carnapping, murder, hulidap, riding in tandem. susginoo! suko na ako. it pains me to say, hopeless na ang pilipinas. the middle class knows this & is migrating by the bucket loads. just my two cents.
Totally agree hopeless na pinas kasi nasa kultura na natin bulok na Sistema :(

    Totally agree!! +1

    @dhey_almighty i agree. Naglalabas lang...

Parang nakakawalang gana at masasabi mong bulok talaga. Hay nalang. Tulad kahapon konting ulan baha.

Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers

This pretty much sums up my outlook about the Philippines at the moment. :-S
And one of the reasons why I am moving to Oz.

lol agree ako sa inyo, this reminds me of my previous work experience, meron politics, meron mga asungot and there were also people dont want to take job seriously, so me and my friend decided to leave the company. after a few years i was indirectly working with them in some of their projects, in some way nakatulong yung pag-alis ko kasi madami ako natutunan sa iba and then naii-share ko pa sa kanila yung mga natutunan ko.
i also want to migrate to au not because i dont love my country, but because i have reasons, my family first.

each one here have their own reasons kaya nagmmigrate, and common sa karamihan eh gustong makatulong at mabigyan ng maganda future ang sariling family, kaya I believe people here would care less about those stats. bawas bawasan panonood ng tv, hehe.

lumalawig na masyado yung usapan hehe

    Ngayon, balik sa tanong:
Are we making a good decision in moving to Australia?
Para sakin medyo vague and subjective yung question.

Kung in the end you became happy and successful after moving to another country, then you made a good decision.

Kung in the end you failed, did not land your dream job, lost your friends, your family disintegrated, wasted your money and time… then obviously, your move to elsewhere was not a good decision.

“The End, Justifies the Means” ika nga… Lahat yan sapalaran.

Having said that, I hope Australia can ask us all back...
"What have you done for your own country, and are we making a good decision of choosing you for Australia?"

each one here have their own reasons kaya nagmmigrate, and common sa karamihan eh gustong makatulong at mabigyan ng maganda future ang sariling family, kaya I believe people here would care less about those stats. bawas bawasan panonood ng tv, hehe.

Tama po, ineffecient lang po ang govt ng pinas but PH is still beautiful. Nothing beats the tropical beaches, abundant resources, variety of fishes, plants and forest. Sadly, it's the people who ruins our country.

There's a certain feeling of happiness whenever you come home. I cannot feel that here in AU. I cannot say that AU is ideally safe, customer service here sucks, there's no much competition prices are high, jobs are minimal. So any places you go there's always ugly side nothing is perfect. it all depends to the person how much they can tolerate the bad and enjoy the good side. But never hate the country where you got your roots on wherever life takes you still going to look back where you come from.

Australia specifically Adelaide is not a perfect place - just like all other places in the world. But what can I say after a year here? "Leaving SG and living here is indeed a very good decision I've made". Thanks to Almighty God :)

Assessed Occupation: Industrial Engineer (IE 233511)
Achieved Goal: Australia PR (Permanent Resident). Thanks God!

    ...sharpening my core gifts now...
    ...working on new, better goals...

Four years after leaving Singapore (And 8.5 years since leaving Pinas), the move to Melbourne was well worth it. We have adjusted here and our career (both ni misis) has just became much brighter here. Work is both rewarding and challenging.

I became PR last year and si misis naman is in the process of waiting for her citizenship examination; hopefully by end of the year, she will take the oath of allegiance here.

Do I miss the Philippines? Sadly I don't; I just miss our relatives but that can be remediated by technology that bridge the distance. In a few months time, we shall be going home for more than a week so all should be well.

Life has been good and kind and the decision to move has been one of the best decision we have made...

    Goodluck to all!!
