where to study: university or private higher education provider?

lmrccjlglmrccjlg Quezon CityPosts: 46Member
I received an offer from a university and a higher education provider which are both under SVP. University fees are way higher compared to the private education provider. Aside from the cost, what are the things that needs to be considered in choosing where to study? I am really undecided until now..

sept 2014: IELTS done
oct2014: IELTS result 7.5
nov2014: applied at AIH, CSU(got interviewed) and Kent Institute
dec2014: got offer letter from all schools
jan2015: still undecided where to study :(

For me its all about the cost. Some universities (not all) charged higher cost for a reasons (e.g. better facilities, better system, top notch professors, better global recognition, placement/ tie up with top organisations/ employers, integrity, public/ employer perceptions of the school, chance of having better networks/ classmates). If money is not an issue and i will have a chance to study in Australia, i will pick University of Melbourne all day. It's belong to top 50/100 best Universities in the world. Same here in Singapore i will pick NTU, SMU or NUS without a doubt, but tooo expensive. Same with top Uni's in US. Maybe sa pinas maraming cheaper universities with top quality education like UP, but we're not talking about pinas. If only i have funds. Go to the best Uni's if you can. Yung mga examples ko na nabanggit ang main considerations ko other than the cost =)

yep same if money is an issue for you, and you want a cheaper one you can choose the private sector if its both svp and kung processing ng visa ang habol mo same lang processing nya doesnt depend on school.

If visa lang talaga habol mo then just find school that fits your budget, and move from there. It depends on your current circumstances and your main goal.

Aside from the cost po kasi kuya @vhoythoy and ate @xine, I am also worried of the outcome of my studies. If makakahanap ba agad ako ng work if I study in this school or not, baka kasi may discrimination sa oz pag hindi ka sa uni naggraduate parang dito sa pinas.. If makakahanap din naman agad ako ng work if hindi ako sa uni magaaral then well and good. Hindi po ako makapaglodge pa ng visa kasi undecided pa rin ako where to study.. huhu

Yan eh nasa diskarte mo na yan. Kahit siguro Uni or private education lang if talagang makakahanap ka ng work eh makakahanap ka. mas advantage nga lang sabi ko kung maganda school mo. pero bottomline is ikaw pa rin gagawa ng kapalaran mo.

if money wasnt the issue, punta ako sa best university, pero kung budget ako, pinakacheapest na. kung nagaalangan kung makakanap ng work, kuhain mo yung course na hindi kinukuha ng locals sa Australia, discrimination, lahat meron nun, walang country na walang nag discriminate . ang hanap mostly dito Australian or pr na. kung ako nakapag student visa, ok n sa akin ang basurero at etc n trabaho. kung mapili k sa work, mahihirapan k or unless may ibubuga ka sa lahat.

Yep, go to a university for better education and training. But it doesnt matter where you graduate here when you apply for work (soo diff from pinas). Even your grades doesnt matter. Most of the employers here wants australian citizens and PR. Like us who are not, they want someone w/ experience, confident in the interview and can sell themselves to be hired. For me, Im still a student but we are taught to step up from locals since very competitive. Importantly, meet fellow pinoys kasi they can help you to get job by referral/ backer. :)
