how to survive in AU as student

jefnavarrojefnavarro AdelaidePosts: 179Member
Good day sa inyo guys!

Just want to ask something sa mga naging student sa AU at naging PR na.
I am planning to study there while working hindi ba magiging mahirap para sa akin/amin ang magtrabaho while studying? gusto ko kaseng mangyari ay masustentuhan ko ang pagaaral ko don kaso parang mabigat pa rin ang tuition fee kahit $$ na ang kikitain mo. Maraming nagsasabi na may Cash on Hand naman which is $20/hr pangdagdag sa tuition fee..

Thanks in advance!

(sorry masyadong mahaba)

Hi, incoming student palang ako but based from what Ive read from other discussions, mahirap sustentuhan ang sariling studies natin with the money we'll be earning. Kung workload naman ang pag-uusapan, manageable naman daw since school days will be 2-3 times a week lang. Yung iba nageexceed ng working hours pero depende naman sayo if youre willing to risk it.

@GoldSeeker Sir Good day! on what basis mo nacompute yung 300-500k na pwedeng kitain sa 2 year study? tulad sa akin plano kong kumuha ng BIT which is 20,253 per year for 3 years.

Then 25-50% lang downpayment then instalment na the rest.

What if mag part time as nanny? Ako ba magbayad ng tax ko or the parents I'm working for?

Para kasi alam ko since I will be comming in Aus in February and will be studying.

Thanks. Hope to hear from you soon.

Was this stated by the government?

Or assistant sa kitchen. Or food attendant sa coffee/food shops. The trick is makipag-network sa mga Pinoy para sila magsasabi sa iyo kung saan ang mga raket. You can do your networking sa Churches.

Mahalagang may driver's license at kotse.

Pero during school breaks between terms, puwede kayong magtrabaho ng todo to the max.

Ganoon talaga. Huwag masyadong umasa sa mga kamaganak. Huwag din makikitira nang matagal sa kanila. Kung makikitira man, ikaw ang makisama.

Hi guys! If you have job referrals that accept students for part-time paki post naman here. Thank you!

I've been here in Sydney since last April and no work pa until now. I've no relative din kasi or friend na kilala before I arrived dito. I hope you can give me some idea where I can possibly apply. I tried na seek, indeed, careerone, gumtree but wala talaga.

Kasi kung nursing mas madali eh. Pwdeng agency ka mag apply. Mganda ang sweldo. Actually bf ko ang nanjan so i know almost everything na. Lol. If nursing ang course, pwde kyo mag apply as nursing assistant sa mga agency like Bower, NNA. Ang sweldo is 20 to 28$ per hour dpenende kung am pm or night.

@aayan29 I'm a Marketing grad satin but I'm taking up Accounting here. Sales and Marketing background ko. I'm ok kahit casual sales even customer service but medyo mahirap. May mga nagcall sa admin applications ko but kahit part time daw they need more than 20 hours per week and they can't take me because of the work hours limit. Hay.

@ana_s Usually kasi ung casual jobs jan makkuha mo thru referral eh. So hindi araw araw ung work. Ung bf ko 5x every two weeks ang work nya on call sya kya sakto lang na 40 hrs per fortnight. Tpos pag sobra na sya tinatanggihan na nya ung agency. Try mo ung hospitality agency na challenger. Bka may makita ka dun. Dun nag work dati ung friend ko nung bago palang sya jaN

life here in OZ is not easy especially for any student who will just be starting his/her studies here. better prepare yourself for the worst case scenery that you can't find a job maybe for 2 months. and if you are studying alone (meaning having somebody to help you in your TF) then the more that it would be challenging for you. been here for 5 year and we started everything from being a student and just last year, wifey finished her masters course. so tyaga lng ng tyaga guys and extend the more your support group, go outside and look personally for any kind of jobs...kahit na odd jibs like dishwasher, cleaner, kitchen staff ...whatever as long as you have something coming in into your bank account...don't take the risk of over extending your allowed working hours (40hrs per fortnight)....and the most important of all, pray and pray for God's protection....

never believe on whatever say that life here in OZ is easy...it is so difficult guys especially if you are just starting it...my intention is not to discourage or upset anyone but just being honest with you...though it is still a case to case basis but if you are really keen of studying here, be prepared for those "storms" to come your way...God bless

Mahirap mag survive kapag solo flight student dito. Mahal kasi ang school fees plus accomodation and daily expenses. Pero I help them in paying the fees kahit konti. It took me a year bago nakakuwa ng work dahil competitive ang nurses. Sa nursing home ako now as casual AIN ($20/hr). Tapos got a second job sa nursing agency which is higher pay ($25-37/hr). Mahal. Kaya do not depend on your work while studying. Its better to have someone to support u. Cheers.
