Gave birth in Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney last month. Had CS operation because labor didn't progress after 36 hours my water bag broke.
It was good overall. My husband was with me the whole time I was in the operating room. And our baby never left our sight from the moment he came out. I was up and about within 24 hours after my operation. The hospital was full that time so we changed rooms several times but it didn't bother me. Most of the time I was sharing a room with another mum. Families can visit from 9am up to 1pm then 4pm-8pm again. Since I was on public healthcare system, my husband wasn't allowed to stay with me overnight. For those on private insurance, I think you can have your husband stay for a minimal fee (I think about 10-20aud/night, not so sure about this though) with free breakfast.
I love how the midwives took care of me. They were very patient in teaching me to let the baby latch for breastfeeding. On our 3rd day, I was allowed to go home and had home visits from the midwives three times. They came to check the baby's weight, how well I was coping and follow up on my progress on breastfeeding. Kung sa pinas pa 'to, I would be left on my own and would have gone nuts on how to breastfeed my baby.
We didn't pay a single cent for the delivery. Just presented my medicare card and that was it. Yung expenses namin were just additional like we got stars for our baby's name on the hospital wall, had my placenta encapsulation and etc.
I hope this would help those who are giving birth soon. Good luck mummies!

first step is go get a medicare card then after that find a bulk billing clinic (meaning walang bayad) thats for the GP...tell them your looking for a hospital for your pregnancy then the GP will write a letter to that hospital then wait ka lang ng a less than a week to two weeks for the hospital to contact you.
Good luck :-)

In a few weeks time manganganak na si misis, mag-share pako.

This is our case, we have been married for 5 years and having a baby was pretty much a challenge the whole time. Di masukat lahat ng gamot na nilaklak ko and luha na iniyak ko during that time. Then, we decided na di muna mag sobrang focus sa baby making and applied for Oz. last year, we received our grant and immediately did the initial entry and planned the big move on August 2015. While planning for the big move, ongoing pa rin ang baby goal. Until February we finally had our big fat positive. Now, I've read from some previous posts na better na wag muna magbuntis prior to landing here para maghanap ng work and maging stable and all, the thing is, hindi po lahat ganun kadali magbuntis. its not as easy as ordering, i want to get pregnant now na kasi kaya na namin. There are just some things na hindi mo controlled. As much as we also want to be stable before the baby comes but God has his own timing. We have prayed for this for a long time and here it is sabay ng big move namin. We are thrilled na we are finally pregnant at the same time anxious kasi hindi ko alam yung medical environment ng Oz.
We are currently residing here in Abu Dhabi and the medical insurance is pretty good. Consultation and medicine is covered. Even surgeries. The thing na I am worried about is will I be getting the same medical treatment there in Oz as I am getting here? My pregnancy is high risk, yung mga nabsa ko kasi sa post is mostly normal lang. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes during the early weeks of my pregnancy. meaning di ko alam diabetic pala ako before I got pregnant. Is there a special treatment/consultation for high risk pregnancies kashit medicare lang ang gamit? or should we get a private insurance para macover ito? At the moment, I am injecting insulin too. I just need as many information as I can so I can report to my OB here. she wants to be assured that I will be getting the right care when I move.
Thanks po for reading and sa lahat ng advice.

if ever may gagastusin ka man ng konti do consider na pag pinanganak mo si baby mo sa Abu Dhabi he/she remains a Filipino citizen which means you have to pay and process his/her papers once you migrated here in Australia unlike pag ipanganak mo sya dito magiging Australian Citizen sya (because you are holding a permanent visa). So, you should consider those factors din.
