    Hello PinoyAU teachers! I have two questions, and I would really appreciate your insight on these matters:

    1) Let's say na mayroon na akong visa grant, possible bang maka-secure ng teaching job kung mag-aapply lang muna ako online at kahit wala pa ako sa Aus? (Balak ko sana meron na akong job bago dumating sa Aus para meron na agad source of funds...) Interested lang ako malaman from someone with this kind of experience. Dito kasi sa Pinas diba maliban sa interview, meron pang demoteaching...

    2) My college degree is Bachelor of Elementary Education (Major in Teaching in the Early Grades, K-2), with teaching experience of teaching Grades 3 - 5 for the past four years. I am aiming for Visa Subclass 189 (through the skilled occupation Early Childhood Teacher). When I'm already in Aus, do you think it would be possible for me to teach in Primary School instead, since ang major ko naman ay from Kinder to Grade 2?

    Sorry ha, andami kong tanong! Pero thank you na rin in advance sa mga makakasagot. :)

    @sunflower Hi.. My wife is taking the IELTS this month and mag papa assess din sya sa AITSL. As far as I know, di agad makakapag turo ang teachers without qualifying for the requirments ng ACECQA or sometimes may requirement din yung state.

    BTW, have you heard anything yet from DIBP? ang alam ko, in demand ang Early childhood teachers sa AU ngayon. Thanks

    Hi! Yes, meron ring nakasagot sa tanong ko in another forum. Apparently, basta PR ka na sa Aus, pwede kang magwork in any field, provided that you have the qualifications/registration for it.

    Yes, in-demand ang Early Childhood Teachers, and from what I've seen in job listing websites, mukhang may opening for it all-year round.

    Good luck to your wife! ACECQA is for Early Childhood Teachers only. So kung, let's say, Primary Teacher or Secondary Teacher siya, hindi na yun sakop ng ACECQA.

    In demand rin ang Secondary Teachers, lalo na kung Math or Science ang specialization mo. Good luck!

    @aiayosef
    I know how you feel. Nakaka-frustrate na hindi mo makuha ang target score, lalo na't mataas ang requirement saatin and wala tayong option to take the PTE dahil IELTS ang requirement ng AITSL pati ng most teacher registration bodies sa Australia.

    Anyway, maraming tips about IELTS sa topic na to: http://pinoyau.info/discussion/29/share-some-tips-on-ielts#latest

    Kayang-kaya mo yan! :)

    Hi, Oo nga sayang konting points n lng. Anyway just keep trying. When I taught casually in a language college here in Sydney, I've had a couple of onshore Fil students who had the same frustrating experience. But who knows, you'll make it this time since you're here and your exposure to the language adds to your language proficiency.
    Don't lose hope. Last July, I got a full time job in a grammar high school to teach ESL. Thank God.
    So I'm paying it forward to reach out in this forum.

    Btw, are you in Sydney as well?

    Keep us posted!

    Hi, madami din job opening for secondary teachers regardless of specialisation. Tyagaan lng din tlga. Sometimes may palakasan din coz they hire casual teachers who are relatives or even partners of some staff. Also, if you've been qualified and registered, you can always apply online. In my case, when I got my institute of teachers' number, sinabayan ko apply sa government school accreditation website. After that, private and public schools had been calling for casual work. But now I got a full time one in an independent school. But govt schools is the way to go kasi ang salary mas mataas up to 120k a year, depending on qualifications and experience.

    Goodluck on your application!

    It's a relief to hear that it is indeed possible for teachers to find work prior to arriving! And based on what you said, it sounds like you even had your pick of casual jobs to take, bilang maraming tumawag hehe. I am planning to fix my Australian teacher's registration (as soon as I receive my visa grant) in my state of choice (which is QLD), so hopefully it'll be easier to look for a job online. Yung isa ko kasing concern eh hanggang April pa ako magrereport sa current teaching job ko dito sa Pinas, eh diba January-ish ang start ng school year diyan sa Aus? So ayun, most likely, temporary and casual job offers lang talaga ang makukuha ko. Of course, I wouldn't have any say to be picky at all. I would just feel blessed to have any offers at all. Again, thank you for sharing your local experiences with us! :D

    @khangki @AspireAU21 hi, NSW Institute of Teachers Board of Studies and Teaching Educational Standards ( BOSTES ) you can search their website on requirements for accrediting overseas graduates. But it's the usual documentations- TOR, testamus/ diploma/ IELTS.
    It's not easy to land a teaching job , let alone a full time one particularly that AU is highly exacting. Lalo kung private schools. Lam mo naman mentality nila; Bkit Asian ang magtturo kung may puting qualified. EH sorry., Mas may qualified na Pinoy. Palakasan silA minsan Kahit NDE qualified at walang BOSTES number.
    Anyway, it's not easy but not impossible. I suggest that you prepare yourself for struggle to look for teaching jobs. Search forums for how others made ends meet prior to securing a job in their line of work. Kasi if your skill sets and other qualifications can land you temporary jobs while looking for your dream one, that will be handy.
    Basta nandito kana with full working rights madali n lng-- adventure na din with risks. Pag nakaswerte ng full time teaching , bongga ang buhay.

    Un nga lng pag zero lovelife- waley din.
    Lol!

    Keep trucking towards your Australian dream!

    @sunflower hi, hinde namn. Nag pa yummy sila puro casual offer EH di nung tumwag sila for another casual EH ako na ang nag pa yummy. Ahaha!

    QLD k pAla papunta.? We were from Goldcoast where I had my first job as an IELTS trainer. So am qualified din sa Queensland College of Teachers. Mas maluwag nga ang QLD kesa NSW sa requirements. Actually, I used my QLD accreditation as my ticket to being registered here. Tapos sa Northern Territory din. Kasi when you apply, Minsan madami kailangan sa remote areas like Darwin. But when I had a chance for an interview at Xavier school Darwin, pag uwe ko nag isip ako. Got a bit scared of some stories I heard. But I still keep my current teaching status in all 3 states just in case. Bayad ka nga lng ng bayad sa registration fee.

    Good luck on your application!

    Oh, so nagpalipat-lipat ka pa pala ng state. Among those three states, why did you decide to stay in NSW (if you don't mind me asking)? Wow, mukhang ang gastos na nagbabayad ka ng teacher registration in three states ah! But I can see its advantages naman... At least there's always another state to fall back to, ano?

    Yes, target ko sa QLD, kasi taga-Brisbane yung boyfriend ko. Of course, it would be ideal for me to secure a teaching job in Brisbane itself, pero there's a bigger chance na mas may opening outside the Metropolitan areas, so open naman ako dun. I'm sure once may local experience na ako, mas madali na akong makakakuha ng job sa city.

    Yes interstate move except Darwin coz you can always apply for accreditation online just then post your documentations. I'll forego of the NT registration kasi Natakot nko dun. Then of course now that I got a FT job already there's no need for it. Naisipan lng namin Sydney because wanted adventure as well. So my brother and his wife and I resigned our jobs and moved here. Lucky enough, we weren't jobless for more than 2 weeks. Now we all have full time jobs. Sydney is more multicultural I think.

    So registration status namn, am keeping my QLD registration for future career prospects. and yes because Brisbane has direct PAL flight to Manila as well as Sydney. Ung iba kasi magastos pag galing Camberra nag hhotel pa Sydney before flight kasi walang direct flight.

    Maganda ang Brisbane; it's midway to everywhere else. Then it's cosmpolitan din naman with a variety of school types. In your case mabenta ang early childhood teacher. Mag search ka sa Internet about PYP qualifications kasi yan ang isa sa selection criteria hinahanap.

    Why, what's wrong with Darwin? Meron bang mga kababalaghang nangyari doon? Pero wow, napaka-convenient naman kung online accreditation lang sa kanila, sana ganun rin sa lahat ng states...

    You're very lucky that it didn't take you long to find a job! Depende rin talaga yan sa qualifications and experiences, ano?

    Sige, I'll do some research about the PYP qualifications. Thank you! :)

    @sunflower hi,

    No nothing really. It's just that perhaps it would better to work in a school whose profile is more parallel to that of the teacher; Sydney is more multiculturAL than Darwin.

    Am sure you'll find work soon as well as your line is also in demand!
    Just find more ways to reinforce it with other qualifications like PYP.
    When you arrive here, other requirements like working with children check, first aid, and the like may be done next.

    @be20 Hi, I believe you have to choose if you want to apply as a primary or secondary teacher. Then, that would determine what you're willing to sacrifice in terms of points. For instance, you decided to apply as secondary, then you're points must come from BSE qualification, and secondary teaching experience. In other words, you're nominated occupation must align with your qualification, teaching experience to get the points of at least 60. In terms of points for your Masters, they only credit doctoral degree.

    Search mo sa immi website ang visa 189 doon mo mkkita ang detailed ways how to apply and do a self assessment kung pasok ang points mo.

    Goodluck!!

    @be20 hi ang balita ko sa ibang nga forums EH pag masters level unlimited work hours ka meaning pwede ka lumagpas ng 40 hrs. Kung Sunshine Coast ka at makakuha kang work as preschool assistant Malaki naman konte ang per hour nun. Search mo ibang threads sa mga amount na hinahanda ng student visa para Mas clear idea mo. But I think you'll need less money/ show money if you're by yourself and not with a family. San ba mismo relatives mo sa QLD? wala ba UNI mas malapit kanila?

    @be20 Hi sis,

    Ah ok. Gusto mo Muna try ang 189 Bgo student. Great idea! At least masubukan mo at nde k mg wonder in the future sa mga what if. Surely, things will always be different when you try them rather than hearing second hand.

    Regarding you question abt suggestions for uni and probable places for settling.

    I think it's important to ask yourself first which State appeals to you more in terms of future job prospects. Will the state continue to pursue graduates of a particular skill whether for 190/457?
    In terms of jobs- odd jobs may have to do while seeking for a more suitable one, or while still studying. Also, if you're alone you can rent a granny flat prang studio type. Based on experience in QLD and NSW nde nmn malayu ang rent fee-- almost the same range--120-150 /wk.
    Kung Sydney nmN type mo mag UNI pwede ka sa mga bedspace set up sa city na mismo walking distance to most unis. Per person 150-200/wk. 4 in a room all inclusive of utilities pati wifi. Search k p sa ibang thread about this topic ull learn more.
    Looks like you're willing to take the BIG MOVE Challenge!!

    Go for it!!
