hello, new to this thread. sino po recently nag pa assess sa ICAA? how's the experience? Sabi ng agent namen dun daw kame mag pa assess for management accountant.

having read the latest on CPAA and PICPA MPA, baka better na mag pa assess sa CPAA now? Although Tier 2 school ako, pero CPA naman with >10 years of experience. Appreciate some thoughts. :)
@kate27, really depends on your circumstances. Anong qualification ba you covet having? Then there's also factors of time, effort and money.

In my case, I chose CPAA over CA since wala nakong time to attend school classes due to family duties. And then as you said, the MP agreement with PICPA and CPAA which will save me effort and dollars. Having said this, CA designation is a bit more prestigious though, but this is something I'm willing to give up.

@kate27 if its only for the sake of migration, I think it is better now to have an assessment sa CPAA kasi dahil sa MPA na yan nirerecognize na nila partly ang qualification natin.

@TasBurrfoot, I celebrated too soon sir. Sabi ko na too good to be true hehehe.

Nakareceive ulit ako ng panibagong email this morning from CPAA nagkamali raw sila at apologies daw. 3 subjects daw kelangan kong itake - including Financial Reporting.

Ok lang, masaya pa rin. Half the price and effort pa rin :)
Sir @ImB congrats sa CPAA assessment mo. I am also planning to get my assessment for pathway 1 (over 11 years CPA experience sa Pinas).

Basic question lang po regarding the experience requirement. Per website it states na atleast 5 years in a senior role. May criteria po ba silang ginamit for us to qualify sa senior role? I have had various supervisory roles sa Pinas (almost 9 years) but I am not sure kung qualified ito as senior position. Another requirement nila is Official workplace testimonial from “current” employer. I just migrated here in Australia a little over 18 months ago and obviously I am not doing anything in a senior capacity at the moment (currently working as a Credit Controller). Can you please share your thoughts on this? I know pwede kong i-detail sa CV ko yung work experience ko all throughout since isa sa mga documents required ang CV but just wanted to know how I will fair sa assessment nila if ever. Another is kelangan ko pa mag update ng payment ko sa PICPA dahil last time ako nagbayad ng membership ko was in 2014 before ako nag migrate.

Thank you so much for any advice sir!

@jcal149, baka magkabatch lang tayo so please drop the name sir hehe.

Opinion ko lang to ha, tingin ko they might be referring to a supervisory position. To give you an idea, eto yung qualification ko:

Private Company A - Manager, Gen Accounting (1.6 years)
PwC - Asst Manager (5.5 years). 3 years dyan, Senior Assoc ako.
Deloitte - Senior Auditor (3.1 years). 2 years dyan, Junior Auditor ako

So tingin ko basta meron kang 10 yrs or more experience at meron lang at least 5 years in a supervisory role pasok ka. This is just based on my experience.

Regarding sa PICPA membership, last membership renewal I made was way back in 2006 nung nasa pinas pa ako :).

Well, you need an immigrant visa first before you can migrate here in Australia - all these CPAA designations are add-ons lang. Not really required in order to live here but nice to put in your CV for job search purposes.

    Goodluck! :)

guys, just to explain further. the migration assessment is different from the membership assessment, although they will be assessing the same set of documents. ung migration assessment is what the case officer needs for your permanent visa. while ung membership assessment is for your cpa program. nde po automatic na immigrant pag na-assess positively ng cpaa. to be a PR, you still need to undergo the skillselect process... goodluck! :-)

@ImB thanks a lot pre, this gives me a lot of hope para mag pursue ng CPA certification ko dito knowing na potentially half the time (and definitely half the cost) down the road na pala tayo once assessed positively sa pathway 1.

Khit ngkroon ng mga delay at inabot ng more than a month. At least ok n ngayon. Kaso nga lng wala pa rin akong employment assessment. I read before na dlwa yung pdf na isesend kaso in my case kasi, isa p lng nttnggap kong pdf pero assessment complete na status ko sa cpaa. Then yung email nila assessment finished na rin and wlang binanggit at all tungkol sa employment ko? Is this normal? Should i wait a little more? Or klngan p sila ifollow up ulit? Thanks po sa mga mkkasagot.

having read the latest on CPAA and PICPA MPA, baka better na mag pa assess sa CPAA now? Although Tier 2 school ako, pero CPA naman with >10 years of experience. Appreciate some thoughts. :)
Nagpa-assess ako sa ICAA and thankfully received a favorable assessment. Mabilis sila magreply, although it took me 5 mos. Yung initial assessment nila sakin is not suitable due to my finance subject. So nagappeal ako and provided additional docs and certification from my school to attest that finance was covered in several subjects in our school's curriculum. I-share ko lang din na kinontact nila yung current dean ng school namin to verify the authenticity of my docs. :)

@kate27 If you have > 10 yrs exp, then you probably have the same accountancy curriculum as mine way back in college :) Ang naging problem kasi nung sakin ay hindi nademonstrate na sufficient yung finance subject to meet ICAA's core competency. During my time, isa lang kasi ang finance subject namin, unlike today may financial management subjects na. So i had to prove to ICAA that the competency areas they require in finance were covered in several subjects. I suggest discuss this with your agent. Submit course mapping din, it really helped. :)

Thanks for you responses. Complete naman un syllabus from school so sana walang problema. ICAA nga daw kase mabilis.

Un PICPA problem ko now, sinisingil ako ng Php12k kase di daw ako nag bayad ng membership after ko magreqister nun 2002. OMG. Kailangan ba talaga tong PICPA Certificate of Membership and of good standing sa ICAA? Ayoko mag bayad ng Php12k sa PICPA.

@kate27 PICPA is not among the accounting bodies that ICAA recognized and doesn't request membership letter of good standing. Though the form states that:

    "Other professional accounting qualifications
Members of other overseas professional associations must provide full details of the examinations; experience undertaken for entry to the association; and a letter of good standing confirming the currency of membership or an explanation as to why membership is no longer current if this is the case."

I don't have personal experience about this.

    @batman @cpaoct2011 salamat ng marami.

Hi I just received my positive assessment from CPAA today. However they did not recognized my employment experience before I passed the board exam. I have detailed certificate of employment for the unrecognized work exp. Yun bang skilled assessment ng cpaa ang basis for EOI or we can submit pa rin yun actual years of experience as long as my supporting docs naman sa DIBP? *sigh*
