@iam_juju d2 ako south australia, 190 ksi visa ko so need to stay here for 2 yrs. Though I passed the exam, hindi ko na sya nahintay. I got a job after 4mos as lab assistant. Ok na for a start. Need nila ang local experience so need to start from scratch again. Mejo konti ang opening d2. I dont know sa ibang state.

Hi.pwede ba iconvert and student visa to PR visa after you finished the short course? kaylangan pa bang bumalik ulit sa pinas at magprocess ng pr visa or pwede iprocess habang andun ka?

@mauriceserrano walang points ang degree sa Philippines. Only degrees (Bachelors & Masters) taken in Australia ang equivalent ng 15 points. The PhD taken in Australia is worth 20 points.
Most of our qualifications in the Philippines are not considered as equivalent to the Australian standard (ex. Med Tech in Phils is Lab Tech here).

@vangie Don't worry too much. Just follow the instructions sa AIMS websites kng ano mga documents na kailangan nila. TOR, PRC license, Diploma, Syllabi of all the subjects (cerified correctly see website for instruction -- after certifying all your docs photocopy twice each document and put it in different folders--3 copies and i-submit sa AIMS.), Passport page, 3x passport sized pic signed at the back with name, and proof of employment. You can submit even if di nila need. Mas mabuti ang extra kesa they will ask you for something and that may delay the assessment. Do it now if you wanna migrate in Australia because they are not in need of more scientists now and they might remove it in the list in the next 2 years. I'm surprised it's still on the list. There are so many professionals working in the lab waiting for their turn to become scientists. Plus the new graduates are always there. God luck.

@bhelle_mt02 hi! mas aganda ang career pathway sa mga med techs from the Philippines if you will work in the US. but it's easier to get a visa in Australia. If you're after career progression, go to US.

Just my two cents. Hope it will help in your decision making. Also, try contacting medical scientists/lab technician migrants (from the Philippines) working in Australia and see what their feedbacks are. That may also help.

Btw, same lng ang rate sa lahat ng departments ng lab d2. What matters is you local experience (in Oz) and your position (lab tech/scientist). Di mag-base sa kng anong department ka.

if you are planning to include the IELTS for your 60 points (or more) you will not get 10 points for it because your writing is 6.5. it must be 7 for all bands for it to be given 10 points. Just letting you know before you submit your visa application. Dnt want you $3k to be wasted.

@georgie Hi! You can't convert a short course visa to a PR visa. There's really no shortcurt. Either build a solid work experience that will allow you to gain 60 points or study a Bachelors degree (that you are interested in and that is also in the SOL) then build 60 points to be able to migrate here.

@bear0000 tingin ko posible siya makakuha ng 60 pts without claiming 10 points sa ielts for visa 190 kung ang age nia ay between 27 to 32. Nung nagsagot kasi ako ng eoi, naka60 points ako for visa 190 kht wla akong points for ielts.

@bear0000 ah, may points po ang degree sa philippines worth15 pts if nakapasa ka sa assessing authority na equivalent ung degree na yun sa australia, kaya tayo nagttake ng exam. Naclaim ko 15pts sa Bs. Medtech ko. Dahil nakapasa sa exam. @georgie magpapasponsor ka ba sa employer or what? Kasi mahirap balak mo if medlab tech lang, ang alam ko tinggal na yan sa SOL, pero CSOL lang,kaso ano pathway balak mo? Di mo maapply sa visa 189/190 yan. Mas maganda pa din ang LAb scientist kung ippush mo.

@NicoDC The 15 pts na u mentioned for the Bachelors/Masters is for an Australian qualification registered by CRICOS and the duration of the study must be 16 months or more. Not for an overseas degree that has been recognised by the assessing body.

The reason why they are giving points for that is they want more overseas students to study in Australia. This is a good incentive.. hehe.

But maybe you're right, if mag-take ng exam considered na as Australian study?

Just maybe check before you lodge your visa if you claimed that points for the EOI. God bless and good luck.

@chelle Yes ur right bsta mataas ang work experience possible makakuha ng 60 without claiming points for IELTS. Alam ko po gaano kahirap maka-gather ng funds so I was jst advising if he claimed points for IELTS then it's best not to proceed with the application. But thanks po for the info.

@georgie Don't panic. Australia is not the only country pwede mka-apply. New Zealand is also open for Lab Techs (Histo & Phlebo) accdg to my friend. I'm not sure na sa info about that but maybe may ibang forum about NZ Lab Techs.

@NicoDC pagkakaalam ko po pwede ang medlabtech sa visa 190? di pa kasi ako nageexam ng aims kaya medlabtech lang muna. last year po kasi nagpacounselling ako sa agent at yun ung bnigay nya na option .nagbago na po ba sila?

@bear0000 Hi! Already got 10 points for my english skill from PTE academic test. The results are shown in my timeline which are all above 65 (a score of 65 in PTE is equivalent to band 7.0 in IELTS) Thank you for the concern,though. Appreciate it.

@chelle tama po kayo. Automatic naman ang skillselect sa pagcalculate ng points depende sa ilalagay nyong details that's why its hard to overclaim points that u cant prove in the end coz it might lead to visa refusal. So make sure tama ang assessment mo and meron ka evidence to support once your CO asks for it.

@georgie yes. you need to pass it for you to be assessed as med scientist then that will be your nominated occupation which you can also claim 15 points for it coz it is comparable to an australian degree. Good luck!

@bear0000 ah, you are referring to australian qualification, 20pts po ang BS/masters pag sa australia ka nag aral, pero pag sa overseas qualification, pag ung assessing authority na assess nya naequivalent ung studies mo sa pinas, Pede mo iclaim ung 15pts. Nacontact na po ako case officer di nmn nya ako kinewestion regarding sa pagclaim ko nun. See my time line, baka lang po maguluhun iba mag apply.

@georgie sorry po pero di mo pede iapply sa visa 190 at 189 yan, lab tech. Kahit ask mo iba. Dati pede pero ngaun niremove na nila, only occupations na nasa SOL and hindi na sa CSOL. Ang CSOL po ay for visa 457.

Guys, since mahirap pala maghanap now ng work as Med Sci sa Oz, is it a good idea to apply to the US and Oz at the same time? Like if I have an Oz PR visa, I will just do an initial entry to activate the 5 year validity then if lucky an employer will sponsor me to work to the US for a 3 year H1B visa. Then decide after 3 years if magsettle sa Oz kasi may 2 years remaining pa. Magandang plano ba siya or nagsasayang lang ng pera? Naguguluhan na kasi ako kung US or Oz. Dito kasi sa Middle East mukhang magkakarecession, kulang na lang kasi ipamigay nila ang oil sa sobrang mura.

@NicoDC ah yes you are right thank you for the correction, they will give you extra 5 points if you finished 1 (or more) qualification here in Australia. Masters is only 15 points even if taken in Australia. PhD is 20 points. Good luck to your application!
