But if given the opportunity, i'd like to live sa Cairns dami kc nakapag kwento sa kin na maganda daw don or sa Brisbane at Goldcoast dahil sa mild winter. I have a co-worker who is selling their house here and will be moving permanently sa Cairns at sabi p nya its the best decision they have ever made....tinanong ko sya, ano magiging work nya dun then sabi nya i'll just do casual jobs :)

Mas makukumpara nila ang dalawang state.

If I may share (Sorry long post ito)... I've lived and worked in both cities. hehehe Although sa Melbourne around 6 weeks lang and in Sydney about 2 months (without work) and 1 week with work. lol Maraming pros and cons with both cities, at the end of the day, it's all about your preference and lifestyle.

If you ask a typical Melburnian (pinoy) kmusta ang Sydney, sasabihin nyan, magulo jan, palagi nagmamadali mga tao and ang mahal mahal. If you ask a Sydneysider how's Melby, sasabihin nyan, ang lamig lamig don and prolly they've never settled in Sydney so they prefer Melby. hehehe

Ako naman straight to the facts lang (Note that depende pa rin tlga sang suburb/part of the city ka tumira kaya pde tlgang may bias pag nagcompare):
    1. Cost of Living: All expenses are almost equal sa Melbourne and Sydney except housing and Childcare. hehehe Sa Melbourne, you can rent mismo sa city (well depende sa budget pa rin hehe) or even very, very close to the city like 30-min ride, na around 500AUD.

    2. Weather: Masyado tlgang malamig sa Melbourne but I guess sanayan lang eh. hehehe Kaya typical na nagiging indoor and fashionista dahil you've got to layer clothes and use thick coats pag winter. Twice nilagnat and sinipon ang anak ko. Haven't been to Melby pag summer (sabi nila isusumpa mo rin daw dahil umaabot ng 40deg at may malalaking langaw hehehe). So Sydney wins when it comes to weather.

Di ko alam bkt and if totoo nga.

    4. Transpo: Winner ang Melbourne, mas madali to get around dahil on-time if not early ang buses and trains nila.

Pag sa IT jobs yeah mukhang totoo nga.

So cguro halos same sila dito, pero sabi nila mas marami ata pde pasyalan sa Sydney. :) Ang galing lang kase travel to the city ka, very cosmo, travel to the Western part ng Sydney, may Blue mountains and may mga farm na pde puntahan etc... Sa Melbourne parang ganon din. Pareho namang may beach pero syempre mas maganda sa Bondi and Manly (although I've never been there, comparing the pictures lang haha).

For me namimiss ko ngayon ang Melbourne dahil napaka-convenient and laid-back and nagaadjust ulit kmi dito sa Sydney. Mas malayo pati where we are right now from the city kaya di ko sya pde icompare. Walang trams sa Sydney CBD (if meron man, for tourist attraction lang hehe) Pero punta lang sa may The Rocks area ng CBD for a more historical/European feel ng CBD. hehehe :) Pero ung ambiance and the weather/attractions/look-and-feel, I prefer Sydney. hehehe :)

    hat trick for Melbourne.

    Melbourne world's most liveable city

    http://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/latest/a/-/newshome/18689553/australia-liveable-city/

Pero siguro nga you can not tell which is better unless you experience living in both cities. Mata-try pa lang namin Melbourne by December this year. Sana okay ang maging experience namin.

Nasa top 10 din ang Adelaide, Sydney and Perth. hehe :)

Sa ngayon kasi, napupusuan ko Melbourne because of the laid back thingy.

Educate me naman for those already in Melbourne - sa Melbourne ba maraming nagra-run, swim and bike outside? Parang mahihirapan akong gawin yang mga yan on a daily basis kapag nasa Melbourne ako base sa mga nabasa kong posts dito. Palagay nyo po?

For those naman living in Sydney and who lived in Singapore - when you say city living, how does it compare to living in Singapore?

When we were in the process of applying, nilagay ko sa application ko Melbourne. Mas mababa kase ang cost of living compared with Sydney. However, during the initial entry, sa dami ng nag offer to take us in, ang friend ko from Sydney ang nanalo to convince us na mag initial entry dito. So sabi ko sa kids ko, since Melby naman kame later, Sydney na muna sa initial entry. When we got here, my kids had friends sa Melby na nagsabi na masyadong laid back dun, malungkot parang probinsya daw. Naisip ko din na most of the big companies nasa Sydney ang HO so chances of getting a job is higher. Before we left Sydney after 10 days initial entry we decided dito din kame babalik. Fortunately, after going back to the Philippines, I got a job offer to work in Sydney for one of the top insurance companies in Australia. So the rest is history, we settled here. Mas mataas ang cost of living here compared with Melby. Even properties here in Greater West wala ka ng makitang below 550k sa new construction and it is going up. According sa news, ang median for properties here is hitting 700k. Minsan naisip din namin na lumipat sa Melby but then our jobs are here so we are staying put. Btw, 3 years na kame dito on 01 Sep.

Kellyville and the other suburbs na part ng The hills, around 700K na pataas. huhuh maganda ung area na yan kase low density and marami raw ok na schools around it. Very safe din, jan kase ako nakitira nung naginitial entry kami. hehehe

But then again, depende sa suburb and location ng property. hehehe
