Backup Engineer

The Role

The Backup Engineer will be responsible for the day to day management of all client backup environments, ensuring that data integrity is maintained with regular test restores and provide reporting to the Service Delivery Manager on the status of the customers backups. It is expected that this role will be developed into a Storage Specialist in the future.


Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
• Experience using enterprise backup applications (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup)
• Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise disk and/or tape libraries
• Experience configuring and maintaining fibre channel switches
• Strong understanding of backup protocols and methodologies
• Strong experience in performance monitoring and diagnostics to ensure optimal backup throughput
• Strong understanding of database backup mechanisms to ensure data consistency
• Methodical approach to ITIL process and operational documentation
• Relevant industry certifications in Backup and Storage technologies
• Excellent reporting and analytical skills to succinctly and accurately provide an overview of the state of the backup environment to both internal management and customers
• Experience of enterprise storage environments beneficial
• Excellent Customer service skills
• 3+ years relevant industry experience

SOE Engineer
Full-time

Location: Perth
Start: 2-4 weeks
Essential: Eligible to work in Australia

The Role

The SOE Engineer will install, test and maintain hardware and software assets in accordance with Datacom’s Standard Operating Environment (SOE) as well as peripheral services and reporting.


Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
• Provide an escalation for internal and customer desktop application issues
• Strong experience in the build, test and deploy process for the base desktop SOE
• Strong experience in the build, test and deploy process for packaged applications
• Strong experience in maintaining a Definitive Hardware/Software Library
• Strong experience with deployment tools such as SCCM and Kaseya VSA
• Strong experience managing Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPO)
• Mid-level Powershell, VBScript and Batch scripting capability
• Relevant industry certifications (SCCM)
• Excellent communication skills
