AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

Hi guys i'm opening this thread for the purpose of tracking down those visa grantees from 2011 onwards whom are now living up their Australian dream. Congratulations those who have already acquired amortised properties such as house, condo apartment and car to name a few. Looking back as a visa grant of 2011 I've had much fair share of hurdles, hardships, trials from application to visa grant to making my first move and survival here in Australia. After all these dramas needless to say, everything paid off. I've never heard any failures especially from my batch, all of them are "success stories". Thank you Lord.

As we make our way to the last step of australian journey - the citizenship, may I request those who applied or recently approved their Australian Citizenship please share your timeline. Thanks.

@pissedball - good idea on starting this thread... :) I myself will be applying for citizenship come mid 2016 so I am interested on how long does it take generally.

Am curious though, in your signature - you are planning to go home to the PH for good after getting your citizenship? :)

Yes i'm going back to the Philippines once i get my citizenship to "reflect" hahahah. My main purpose of migrating actually is to get an australian passport. I have some business ties back home to consider.

I've been lurking in online forums and found out citizenship approval is so quick but waiting for ceremony takes ages. Oath taking date usually comes from the city council and lucky enough if you live in a suburb that holds ceremony every month.

Congrats Ren, you got the approval after few hours of passing the test. San ako rin hehehe.

Schedule of ceremony depends on your. Council, sa case namin nauna ako nag apply kay wifey ko pero nauna pa sya naging citizen ng 2 months siguro

@jcsantos pre, may idea ka ba kung saan mabilis ? Sydney holds ceremony every month and sometimes twice but because the queue is heavily dense there's a backlog at the moment.

I'm from Adelaide, umalis ako dun kasi mabagal ang council. I will apply this coming April.

    happyinmelbourne34,

thanks for sharing your timeline. Your citizenship is pretty quick from the time of lodgement to ceremony. From what council ka? Madaming tag Melbourne nowadays ang nagko-complain, yung waiting period nila is more than 6months na.

Yes, You can be out of the country anytime you wish, but the approval will not be granted until you comeback. If I were you, wait the approval first (after sitting the test) before you go for holiday.

nabasa ko na 4 yrs of having Oz valid visa, be it PR, student, temporary etc pati nga ata tourist , will make u eligible for citizenship. basta yung last 12mons mo is PR visa ang hawak mo.

Australian Citizenship Act 2007 Residence Requirements
To satisfy the residence requirements you must:
have been living in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying which must include the last 12 months as a permanent resident,
    and
not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, in the 4 year period, including no more than 90 days in the year immediately before applying.
Lawful residence means living in Australia on a valid Australian temporary or permanent visa.

This one is correct... We travelled here as tourist in June 2012 then ayun nagustuhan namin ang Melbourne so apply kami kaagad (from scratch!); by Nov 2012 meron na kami visa.

It just so happened na multiple entry ang inaapplyan ko na tourist visa so hencefore may overlap ng validity sa Tourist Visa and PR Visa. Si misis though applied only for a single entry kaya hintay hintay muna sya on our 4th year which will be in less than 3 months time nalang...
