@ladymamba24 if you plan to stay with your relatives, wala ka maipapakita proof of rental statement showing its address kaya you can't claim any rental assistance unless you declare your relative is charging you on a weekly rent basis "legitimate" of course - I doubt kasi 'di naman sila landlord for sure.

@jedh_g i see. applicable lang pala sa families na nagrerent on their own. if ever magdecide kami to rent, eligible pa rin ba kami kapag pareho kami ni hubby na wala pang work? o dapat isa smin meron income? i'm a bit confused.

How about yung FTB A and B - tama ba na ang difference nila, yung FTB A, allowance for the child while FTB B, additional support sa family for having just 1 source of income?

@ladymamba24 yes of course as the family rent assistance objective is to help support paying the rent while you start establishing yourself until you can support all the house obligations for the family. What I could recommend is the principal (one of you) finds work while the other takes care of the children at home especially when they begin at school. Does not mean na pag wala kayo both work, you're not eligible - of course naman you are kasi PR status kayo when you arrive in Australia.

Family scheme A applies in general. There, considered doon basic expenses if say may work na si mister o si misis, tax deduction applies. Every fiscal year change every June of the year nirerecompute ni CENTRELINK ang subsidy nyo based on job status, tax file status based on your current work, if nagkaroon na kayo ng business thru ABN number, etc. Family Scheme B is more of the other case pag both of you are working and if you have a carer ng mga bata etc. Before, meron new start allowance bonus kaso inalis na. You shall also receive concession cards that you could use on transportation discounts when you ride public transport like bus or train and can be used also on medicine discounted purchases. You can ask the receptionist as they always expalin the best way you could when you arrive. And finally, bring extra source of money on hand as you never know when shall CENTRELINK deposits your money kaya always follow up after your application is submitted after 6 weeks. Then, weekly dito ang rent ng house kaya you can't miss that in payment to the property owner. Hope that helps.

@elleb1 Yup, airbnb kami for a few days tapos lipat kami sa friend namin sa riverwood until makahanap ng house..Tapos nagtaxi lang kami from airport to apartment, bale 3 30kg luggages and 3 hand carries kami. Ang mahal ng taxi.. hehe..

Yung sa funds naman ay nagbank transfer nalang kami from dxb to our bank account here. Kanina nagpunta kami sa bank for proof of identification and to collect our debit cards.

Hello po,

Same question above, pano po nyo nadala ang peso jan sa AU?
I opened a bank acct na sa NAB and pwede na magpadala ng money.
I asked BPI about the charges and nagtry ako maglagay ng 10k php pero mukang 8500php lang ang pumasok in AUD because of the charges and conversion.

Kung magpapalit naman kami ng peso to AUD dito and dalin sa AU, sosobra sya ng 10k AUD and dapat i-declare. May tax po ba pag nagdeclare ng dalang money?

@mgfg when you house hunt, find a place near the school of your kids, dapat strategic location. And usually property owners for house rental shall have you submit the 100 pts ID rental system. Prepare to submit your documents such as bank statements (pinas), passports, proof of billing (not yet applicable), visa grant etc. Once successful, they shall give you your rental form agreement which you shall sign. Read every detail as the weekly rent rate and advance bond shall be stated (usually 1,200 AUD applies everywhere, 1 month advance). Use that in your CENTRELINK rental assistance claim (I think you did not on your application on your first visit, now you know).

For job application, don't despair if most of the time unsuccessful. The key in applying for the job are as follows:

1.) Retrofit your CV on what is required on the job post and not focus on your professional experience which are not relevant to what they look for. In short, focus on what they need.
2.) Employee referrals are the best and not what you know solely.
3.) Immerse with your community where your suburb is located. The best resource were not SEEK or any employment websites but local people were the best source of job openings.
4.) Look for any volunteer jobs. This shall be a plus edge when you apply as you can reflect this on your CV as your local experience in equivalent.
5.) Equip yourself while looking for a permanent one. Upgrade your soft skills.

6.) Lastly, do not overdo above-mentioned lists, relax and let GOD take charge. Enjoy the fresh air and find a friend who could drive you around the city or suburb. Life is good!

Today, we will start our house and job hunt nadin.

@elleb1 our taxi fare amounted to 98 dollars from airport (12km, about 20 minutes travel time). Yung sa bank transfer naman, you can negotiate with your banker to give you a good rate

@don_andres pareho tayo yung anak kc namin hindi basta2x kumakain ng pagkain sa labas. IED namin is March 5-15, 2017. Nkahanap kami ng serviced apartment sa Macquaire Park mejo malayo na sa CBD. Wala kc ko mahanap na mura sa CBD area. Try mo rin yung air bnb tapos check mo yung blog ni Mommy Cathy dito sa Pinoyau, ok yung natirhan nila kc maganda yung location malapit sa CBD at ok yung price. Sydney din kayo?

1.) Mining is on economic downturn and specific here in Perth, difficult to land a job even on other field of profession (I mean permanent and regular). But to sustain the financials, take the casual jobs - ika nga bawal ang mapili dito sa work, think of your family first. No worries kasi lahat naman ng work dito per hour rate so basically all people live here decently. Sa atin lang sa pinas may status symbol ang workers. Think of it before you decide migrating. If you have a "GO" attitude, pwede ka dito mag survive. Go for "tradies" since technician naman background mo. Make sure you got resources to invest on first-hand trainings like welding, floor tiling, building electrician, plumbing, etc.

2.) First, when you find a home, consider the proximity of the school of your children. The better if walking distance lang. In my experience here in Perth, northern suburb area, I had chosen to live here kasi marami na established pinoy communities unlike nearth CBD area medyo bihira. Madali makaka adjust mga kids mo dito kasi puro parks, they could establish new set of friends and you shall be amazed, mabilis sila makakaspeak in english naturally since they shall be exposed to multi-cultural races. So for this part, before your children migrate, sanayin mo na mga anak mo to mingle with other children of their age group. You can build their confidence and have closer ties with you and your wife kasi you got plenty of time here than in pinas. You shall be doing fine with your 12 year old here. Tell him/her na pwede na sila mag work once they reach 14 years of age in fast food restos. For your 8 years old kid, they shall be developing their musical or athletic skills at school as most are offering these programs as pre-requisites including swimming lessons
