@Teng10 medyo down ang job market ngayon sa Perth... I dont know sa ibang state. Jobseeker mode pa rin ako until now. Cguro kasi yung line of work ko eh hindi talaga n demand sa state na to. Kapag nagse search ako, sa Sydney talaga maraming in-line sa job ko. Sabagay, dun naman talaga destinasyon namin..dumaan lang kami dito..hehe

@vhenzchico thanks, just arrived here in Brisbane last friday mate! Filed my TFN..got some referals from mates here...not my actual electronics kind of work..but I had TESDA NC2 for welding so ill see kung ok dun sa Ausie na boss nila..maybe ill get that interview next week..best of luck mate!

Team December good day! Its now raining cats and dogs here in Brisbane, may bagyo po. Anyways, we just went to Centrelink last monday, may error daw system nila, cant find our records yet..etc so balik daw kmi after a week. Also yung TFN and bank accounts are done, waiting for delivery nalng yung cards..max 7 working days daw. Good to go na kmi now..pero maulan talaga at malakas ang hangin..kaya online search muna! Cheers!

Hi Batchmates,

Musta? Hopefully halos lahat saten may grant na by this time. Kung wala pa, keep the faith, darating din yan.

Anyway, here are some updates about my BM planning:
1. Planning for a two-month-long tourist visit this May, multi-city (Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) tapos side-trip sa NZ just to get a feel of the country I will call home for the many years to come.

2. Already opened bank accounts and started depositing with help from friends in Oz to alleviate forex fluctuations.
3. Already enrolled to an online class in Project Management (TAFE) for upskilling and expanding job prospects (since down pa rin mining industry but slowly picking up).
4. Constantly on-search for cheap flights and accommodations, also looking for long-term rental flat/house for the big move.
5. Already have an Aussie SIM and Skype number on roaming for possible job interviews.
6. Aussified my resume and on non-stop job-hunting mode. So far 5 leads, one with final consideration (hopefully eto na Lord!).
7. Created an excel file for budget for one year worst case of no job.

Super excited to start a new life, but also bittersweet since I have to part with friends and loved ones, for a while.

@SAP_Melaka @auitdreamer Hi guys! Besides SEEK, Careerone, Jobactive, etc. I research about the industry (in my case mining) and then look for specific companies looking for my skills, halos lahat naman sila may website. Also I have a large network of friends from college, some of them are in the industry already nagpapaheads-up ako pag may openings.

In terms of aussifying the resume, I heard na di pala CV and tawag tapos meticulous sila sa spelling especially since American English ung tinuro saten sa Pinas, things ending in -ize should be -ise, or license should be licence, mga ganyan hehe. I also got hold of Aussie Contact Numbers and an Address (one of my friends', dun din ako tutuloy if ever) para kahit offshore, ang tingin ng recruiters sayo nandun ka na. Minsan kasi pag nakita nilang international number or address, ekis kaagad move on to next resume sila.

Also, every application should have a cover letter and at most 2-3 pages lang ang haba. Ung references din, di naman kelangan i-detail agad pwede ilagay na avaiable upon request.

Nung unang normal resume lang sinasubmit ko panay rejection e-mails agad, pero nung binago ko resume format and submit ng cover letter, may nakakalusot na sa under consideration.

Pag-visit ko sa May-June, dun ako mag-apply ng TFN, activate bank account, tsaka medicare card, driver's licence (if time permits). Hopefully by that time tapos ko na rin ung Diploma in Project Management (fingers crossed and God-willing).

, as of the moment I opened bank account thru ANZ. Just waiting for my online account registration so I could bank-in some of my savings in my AUD account. Btw FYI, they will charge inbound fees for remittance up to AUD15.. so better if lump sum yung remittance.

Also, I'm still searching for jobs via recruitment sites. Started to convert my CV into AU-style CV and drafted my cover letter. Btw, you mentioned you have AU number already? What is the process for this?
