    It seems like the list isn't well-thought out, 200+ occupations were removed and a lot of them are within the STEM field. I hope they reinstate other occupations soon since I plan on taking masters in OZ in a particular occupation that was removed (targeting visa 190 upon completion), oh well, as for now, time to learn new skills!

    Ano yung STEM field?

    Also , paano po yung mga nakalodge na ng visa waiting for grant or CO contact? Maapektuhan ba kami lalo na sa mga naremove na occupation?

    Nakakagulantang talaga. Agad agad???

    @kisses1417 STEM: Science, technology, engineering, math.

    I'm afraid that if your pending applications for visa 457 will also be canceled and will be refunded as per DIBP site. As for other visas, i'm not sure if the result of SOL and CSOL's removal (and update) affects the outcome of the application.

    This is indeed a sad news, but it's the employers and migration agents' fault for exploiting the system.

    edit update:

    Visas lodged on or after April 19, 2017, will be assessed under the new changes. AND, they're replacing/renaming the 457 visa to Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa effective March 2018, changes implemented at the moment I believe- will be the same.

    it's bound to happen. there seems to be a push back on globalism and migrants. from Brexit to #MAGA to the rise of populist and far-right leaders/parties like Trump, Marine Le Pen, One Nation Party. these global events are so eerily reminiscent of the 1930s.

    @jkk32w it happened last year (if im not mistaken) where they refunded thousands of applications (waiting for over 2 - 4 to be finalised) under group 5. They can do that again in this case.

    @juvelinks

    Note 25: These occupations are specified as a skilled occupation only in relation to an application for a visa listed below. These occupations are not specified as a skilled occupation in relation to any other visa subclass, despite paragraphs 2, 5, 6 and 8.

    · subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa
    · subclass 485 Temporary Graduate visa
    · subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional), if the applicant is not nominated by a State or Territory government agency.

    -This one seems pretty straightforward.

    @engr_boy

    Note 20: In relation to specifications of occupations for a Subclass 457 – Temporary Work (Skilled) visa, despite paragraph 2 of this instrument, for the purposes of paragraph 2.72(10)(aa) of the Regulations, the specification excludes positions that do not require a minimum of two years relevant work experience.

    -I'm not a lawyer, but the way I understand this is that- if the job post/position doesn't require at least 2 years of experience, then you cannot nominate this as your occupation if applying for visa 457.

    What happens if my job was axed from the list? Does this mean after 2 years I cannot apply for renewal or permanent residency?

    @alliexander good question. it seems 457 daw is not affected. I'm assuming on your renewal there shouldn't be a problem since you got a record already. But don't take my words. Ill ask our Registered Agent about your query.
