seriously boss, am on my last 3wks din. wala naman pinapagawa sa akin except to surrender my epass on my last day. they will give me a doc which i can show to sg immigration in order to exit as a tourist.

tax naman, yep kailangan fully paid ito. which was why they withheld my last 2 months salary....

bumisita ng geylang for one last time? :)

kidding aside, yung sa case ko naman dito sa company...parang inexplain sa akin ng employer ko na since ang reason ko for leaving ay "leaving singapore permanently", aayusin nila lahat para by the time na last day ko na...they will give me my last pay na. i'm just not sure about my taxes pero naka-GIRO naman yun so i think ok lang. iiwanan ko pa naman yung bank account ko dito na may laman. hehe

Are you PR here po ba boss @hotshot - if you are PR then walang problema sa tax and you are right, GIRO will still continue with the deduction.

However if you are here on EP, kailangan fully paid na tax mo hence this explains why kailangan nila mag withhold ng salary mo.

In my case for instance, I also pay GIRO for tax incurred last year... Had I not leave Singapore, magbabayad ako nito until early next year. However since hindi ako PR and aalis na ako, kailangan ko ito bayaran ang remaining amount. On top of this, I also need to pay my taxes for wages I received this year.

    Hope this helps! ;)

fyi- kahit Sg PR ka and u are leaving the country permanently ur employer must withhold ur last pay dpat or an amount to cover all ur tax liabilities with IRAS.

one more thing, most likely you will give up ur PR status in SG pag punta kana Oz right? and the CPF money that u will get is likely net of ur taxes.... ur tax GIRO will automatically be cancelled and all outstanding tax will be collected...

sinabihan kasi ako ng employer ko nung nagresign ako a month ago na they will declare me as "leaving singapore permanently" sa IRAS for tax purposes. i didn't know what that meant previously. yesterday, nakatanggap ako ng letter from IRAS and part of the letter eto nakalagay:

You are required to settle your tax matters before you leave Singapore or at the time you leave your job, whichever is earlier. Any instalment arrangement will be cancelled.

We have instructed your employer to pay $X to us and to release the balance of money withheld, if any, to you.

so i talked to our HR manager and she said i will be getting my last pay on my last day at naka-deduct na yung remaining taxes to be paid ko (remaining giro instalments for the 2011 tax + whole tax for 2012). nag-check din ako ng records ko online sa IRAS and canceled na ang GIRO ko.

    :)

I didn't get any letter from IRAS... Ahahaha, sabi kasi ng company ko, 6 wks after my last day ang TAT nila before matapos lahat.

Just goes to show that even if you are one of the biggest bank in UK, it does not follow that they can be very efficient with their operations...

    Lolz! :)

nung kinausap ko HR namin...kelangan daw nila ideclare na "leaving singapore permanently" yung reason ko for leaving. para daw kasi to sa computation at arrangement ng tax payments ko. but, they told me na walang kinalaman to sa PR status ko dito sa SG. nag-raise kasi ako ng concern about it...kasi sabi ko wala pa kong balak na irenounce ang PR ko dito. tapos yun ang sinabi nila sa akin...for IRAS lang daw yun para sa pagayos ng tax ko. :)

i see. mraming salamat sa info sir.

Magiging problema ko rin ito next year. Sa company namin nasa contract na ihold talaga yung last salary so I hope it's enough to cover my tax for 2012.

Tax deduction is not that much pero sukli ko na yun sa SG as my adopted country. Di ko pa alam kung paano ipatigil haha!

Take note if nagtrade kayo ng stocks dito (e.g. via DBS Vickers), either you sell your shares na or inform them na itansfer to another broker of your choice if you still want to keep them. My restrictions thingy for Australian PRs.

As of gamit, kuwarto lang naman nirerent ko at wala naman ako masyado binili except books so bahala na.

Reminders ko na din ito sa sarili ko, when 'this is it' na before kami umalis ng SG...
    - request for certified true copy of Birth Cert from Singapore Registry of Birth sa mga Mommy na dito nanganak sa SG... as good as parang NSO satin... for assurance lang in case kailanganin in the future

    - school certs & records ng mga kids

    - as much as possible, referral letter from current & previous employers or manager in Sg

    - colored copy ng IC then ipa-laminate for souvenir :)

Sir you mention about dun sa mga nag ttrade ng stocks thru DBS Vickers, i still got some kaso ang dillema q now is luge ako ng almost 4k pag binenta q to ngayun. Pede q pa bang i keep to until gumanda na ang price nya?, i have no plans in closing my POSB account yet nor i renounce yung PR sa ngayun.

@Tas BurrFoot - tahimik ngayun sa SG. Most of the shops ay close so malamang indian food na naman kakainin for lunch.
Magiging problema ko rin ito next year. Sa company namin nasa contract na ihold talaga yung last salary so I hope it's enough to cover my tax for 2012. Naka GIRO din ako now(umaasang manalo ng 10K sa promo nila for GIRO arrangements haha). Hamak na EP lang din naman ako hehe.
