It depends on how fast you do your application..there is no connection being on a student visa to 489 visa kasi di naman pathway yong student to 489. if you are on a student visa and apply for a 489 visa, balik ka sa square 1. Why not apply for 489 direct from Ph. In that case di ka pressured sa show money..

@fgs as of now NT and Tas nlang ang open to sponsor for visa 489 for my occupation, marketing specialist.

May mga nakausap ako sa ibang thread na 8 months na since nagpasa sa NT and until now wala pa assigned CO. Sabi ng agent ko sobra mapili daw ang NT.

Sa Tas naman gusto namin mafullfil lang yung yr study and 1 yr stay requirement ng state para makaapply ng 489.

Kung di ka naman nagmamadali at wala pa sa point of losing points due to age, dont fall into trap na student muna then apply for skilled migration later. Its a very expensive and long pathway and you never know by the time na qualified ka na, wala na yong occupation mo sa list. Most agents will point you to the fastest pathway para tapos na case mo with them. Unless talagang pag aaral ang target mo, last resort na lang talaga ang ganyang pathway kung talagang wala ng ither way.

Nagmamadali na kami kasi ma-minus 5 points na ako sa age and hindi na ako nagttrabaho since umuwi ako pinas from sg. More than 1 yr na ako no work.

Yes I agree na expensive path yung student visa pero since 1 yr course lang ang requirement ng Tas to be eligible for 489 might as well take chances kaysq naghihintay dito sa pinas.

Yung agent ko wala narin ginagawa after ako mawala sa list ng SA yung occupation ko. And hindi rin sya optimistic sa NT.

    PTE Writing Tips

For writing essay I used E2 language format and applying what I learned from Ielts. Sa intro, sa 1st sentence ni restate ko lang yung question using my own words. Then sa 2nd sentence if one sided lang yung question, I give summary of the reasons ( 2 reasons only). Example, if ang essay is about importance of computers (one sided), eto 2nd sentence ko. Computers are valuable resources as they (1st reason) aid in learning and are (2nd reason) used to communicate with others. Then sa 3rd sentence sasabihin ko para pampahaba-- In this essay, I shall discuss my point of view by giving points and examples about the topic.

Then sa 2nd paragraph, elaborate ko na ang 1St reason. Mga 2 sentences na magsupport sa 1st reason, like if yung 1st reason ko is aid in learning, expand ko ang topic by answering how computers aid in learning, etc. Usually yung reason mo convert mo by asking how, what, when, or who. Tapos sa 3rd sentence, I state examples. Pwede ka din mag add pa ng 4th sentence parang isummarize mo lang ang 2nd paragraph.

Sa 3rd paragraph discuss naman ang 3rd reason same sa ginawa sa 2nd par.

4Th paragraph 1st sentence conclusion, then 2nd sentence recommendation.

If 2 sided naman yung intro pwede mo gamitin yung nasa template like kina Heprex na samples. Then yung 2nd par yung kabilang side, then yung 3rd paragraph yung other side. Tapos same last paragraph.

If medyo nahihirapan ka sa mga ideas, research ka dito sa forum ng mga recent topics. Tapos based dun sa topic reasearch ka anong pwedeng maging points and reasons para may idea ka na ano ilalagay mo sa essay.

Ang key talaga sa writing is dapat marami ka ideas. If nahihirapan ka mag construct ng idea try to research as much as possible. Google mo yung mga common or recent topics on pte writing tapos may mga sample questions dun,, then research mo ano possible answers para sa actual exam may idea kana ano isasagot. Tapos dpat familiarize mo mga connectors (like moreover, therefore, for instance, etc) kasi mas mataas ang grade kapag medyo complex ang sentence na ginagamit mo kesa simple sentences lang.

For summarize written text strategy ko is to first get ano main topic. Then analyze what important points were given, may nangyari ba? If meron ano ang nangyari, kelan nangyari? ano at para kanino ang purpose? Usually kasi sa mga paragraphs naka detail lang pero yung point lang naman dun is parang dinedescribe lang yung main topic. If you can answer who/what, when, how and why about the topic pwede mo na pagdugtungin yung ideas mo thru connectors and form a sentence. If you will have multiple paragraphs, summarize mo muna per paragraph then summarize mo ulit lahat in one sentence

Another tip also in writing as much as possible do not repeat the same words. If you dont have much stored knowledge about synonyms okay lang. Practice and Research is the key. Kaya malaki ang help sa akin yung pag research sa mga common or recent topics kasi while practicing pwede akong mghanap ng synonyms then mas madali ko syang ma recall sa actual exam kasi nagawa ko na sya before. Tapos if meron kayong word na ma encounter na parang hirap kayo mag elaborate, google nyo din anong synonym or phrases na pwedeng same meaning ng word. Share ko yung nilista kong mga synonyms na possible na magagamit sa mga essay kasi minsan these are the topics commonly asked.

@onehitwonder Ok I see. You may consider 489 via SA. Try to take pte and aim for superior for additional points. For 489 its plus 10 points for state sponsorship. Baka ma reach mo na 80 points. Abangan mo by july 2018 baka mag reset si SA to 80. Yan din ang pathway ko kasi wala din ang occupation ko in most states, but found in SA’s supplementary list. Hipe it helps. :-)

@onehitwonder 1 yr diploma does not satisfy the australian study requirement for 5 points. regional study requires you to have at least finish the qualification for minimum 2 years to give 5 points too. review where you get points and work from there.

@agentKams i am aiming for visa 489. As of the moment wala naman requirement na “satisfy the australian study requirement.” https://www.migration.tas.gov.au/skilled_migrants/skilled_regional

@onehitwonder better na antayin mo by 1 july yung occupational list per state baka may changes.

if may balak kang magstudent visa, better do it sa state kung san ka magpa-sponsor. SA may waiver sila for international students kapag dun ka nag-aral, pde mo ma-access yung supplementary skills list (includes marketing specialist) at pde ka mag-apply ng 190 sa occupation na nakalagay as 489 only.

Meaning kung SA ka mag-aaral, unless may future changes, you only need at least 60 points para eligible ka to apply for SS. SA requires at least 1 academic year of study. Saglit lang ang 1 yr and if may positive skills assessment ka na at nakuha mo na ung english score na needed mo plus other requirements then pde ka magapply ng SS once mtapos ung school mo. mabilis mag process ang SA for SS generally.

Pero up to you kung gusto mo iexplore lahat ng option basta you need to predict ung

Hi @onehitwonder ! Been following your threads, for now we haven't started anything but I think similar yung case... May I ask lang if may assessment authority required para da 15 points mo ng Highest Education Qualification mo...? Or submission lang sha ng transcript talaga?

Sa Canada kasi ang alam ko may WES to verify yung education mo. Hope you can let me know, thanks so much in advance and all the best in your application! :)

@onehitwonder @AbiQB all assessing authorities use the Country Education Profile (CEP)which is from the Department of Education and Training. It’s an official document which lists all institutions outside of Australia and shows the Australian qualification equivalence of each qualifications from the institutions listed. Therefore, assessing authorities do not just decide on the equivalence of your qualification as they cannot possibly do that by just checking the documents you provided. They will always need to check it with the CEP.

Hello po! May tanong lang po ako. Nag-aaral po ako dito sa Melbourne VIC. Pero nakapag-lodge na po ako ng 489 ko sa TAS. Tanong ko lang po kung maapektuhan ba yung application ng 489 kung nandito pa ko sa VIC? Thanks.

@Donneal my guess is oo, kasi marami ako kilala na nagstudent sa mainland and ngayon nandito na sa Tas nag aral para mafulfil requirement ng Tas. Rememer isang requirement ng 489, 12 month stay sa Tas (under category 1)
