@milktea13 Hi. I can't comment on job hunting since I'm still here in PH. EA assessment matters in certain territories where registration is required to practice as an engineer, e.g. Queensland (not sure if there are others). Please expound on CPD question. Let's hear inputs from other members.

@milktea13 skills assessment is used as reference for migration purposes. CV/Work experience especially if you have local one is used as reference for job hunting. CPD stands for continuing professional development. This is required if you are a member of a professional body/if you’re chartered so you can renew your licence. I myself have to accumulate a certain number of points every year so I can renew my licence as a registered migration agent. If you have no professional membership to maintain, you can still freely do your cpd for your own personal interest.

@zirko i believe there is no requirement to be registered as engineer in Australia to be able to work as engineer. My husband is an engineer (German educated) and have worked in Australia, Germany and UK, not even chartered. Most do not want to be chartered due to the great responsibilities it involves. Ang difference lang is you can sign off...most do not want to bother with paperwork. Accountants also are the same. Sa Philippines Lang they put so much bearing on the licence otherwise you won’t be taken seriously. In developed countries, it really doesn’t matter, your skills is as important and definitely can get paid really good. Hope that helps.

@RheaMARN1171933 Thank you. From my understanding, Queensland requires registration of practicing engineers. Without registration, they must be under supervision of registered engineer to perform engineering activities in and for the state. @zirko yes this only applies in Queensland and unfortunately required for offshore applicants applying for 190 or 489 Visa but not for onshore applicants or others who are already in the industry in Australia. For example, 5 of you in the team can have working titles as engineers, doing the tasks required for engineers but not everyone has to be registered, only one has to be registered who can sign off. Similar to being a charterered engineer. This is what I was trying to explain earlier where most do not really like that paperwork side of signing things off and extra responsibility on their shoulders. People get well paid even without that sign off responsibility.

Timely enough, Queensland was our topic of discussion during our CPD session this morning. There was a general agreement amongst us legal professionals that we find Queensland requirements somehow a catch 22 wherein they require most occupations a job offer when in reality, it’s unlikely an employer could even wait close to a year for the applicant to start working with them. It’s like their list is pointless since it’s very difficult to meet their requirements. There is a huge gap that needs to be bridged between immigration policies and department of labour, this we find.

Anyway, most engineering occupations are in MLTSSL so if you qualify for a 189visa, then you can get away with not being RPEQ in case you are moving to Queensland. If you only qualify for 190 or 489, I suggest to just avoid Queensland unless you have no other choice or you’re willing to. regardless if you are RPEQ or not, you will still be employable. Have a look at job ads for engineering particularly in Queensland, there is no mention of registration being required at all.

Would you recommend my husband to accept the production or plant engineer or engg tech assessment of EA for claiming 5 pts (partner) even if in the PH, he is a licensed chem eng? Ang worry ko lang naman is baka sa oz mahirapan sya mag apply ng chem eng related work kapag sa ea hindi sya chem eng and hindi sya maka attend ng cpd na chem eng related... Hopefully, positive outcome ako sa ea tagged as chem engr. Ako naman po ung main applicant for 233111 and class 189.

Hi sir/mam, baka lang may naka-experience na, possible ba mag-change ng nominated occupation after more than a year ng successful outcome? I was assessed by EA as engineering tech? I am planning sana to change ung nominated occupation ko into telecommunications tech officer, which is anzco level 2 lang ung needed qualification?

@milktea13 @zirko no worries. In conclusion, the question was if EA assessment matters during job hunting, the answer is no. Positive skills assessment is a requirement for migration purposes and not for employment. Employers do not ask whether you’ve had a successful skills assessment outcome rather the vast knowledge and experience you have to fit the job. As mentioned, they look at one’s cv/experience during the interview. In reality, they are not even aware of how migration process works. It is important not to confuse these two.

As for the question re production or plant engr vs eng tech assessment your husband should be in the best position to decide on this as no one knows any better about his experience but him. Review the tasks described and listed on ANZSCO and go from there. Good luck.

@JHONIEL Mas ok ata n 233513 ipa assess mo kasi yun ang experience mo para ndi k din mhirapn sa pa gawa ng CDR.

Now , para lng mpanatag ka, compare IE anzsco and Prod Engr Anszco, check what fits most on your exp.

Kasi im ECE Grad pero 233513 anzsco pina assess ko, kasi for Electronics engr anszco, the tasks described are more on design.

If pwede k pareho, tingnan mo sa immitracker grant history per anzsco, bka mkatulong sa pagpili mo, kasi agent cannot assess this for you.

@JHONIEL BSIE din po ako, tapos ProdEngr mostly yung trabaho ko, pero as IE sa ANZSCO ang pina-assess ko, depende naman po kung alin o kung saan na lang mas madali saenyo, ProdEngr at IE almost pareho lang naman. Ang ineexpect ko nga ay maaassess ako sa ProdEngr khit as IE ang inilagay ko sa EA.

May technique po ba? Or sadyang ganun yung portal?
