I migrated over 10 years ago as a cook (after studying commercial cookery)..back then no experience needed. I did attempt to do DIY but ended up getting an agent. What exact input are you looking for?

Hi po! I messaged you po. ๐Ÿ˜Š Iโ€™m on my graduate visa. And about to start my step 2 for JRP. Medyo nag-aalangan ako sa workplace ko if pasok ba sya sa criteria for JRP kasi mostly ng food ay grab & go and prenipare na beforehand tas ididisplay nalang at pag may order, itotoast lang sa oven or reheat lang po. But we do breakfast naman po kaso limited lang sa menu.

No need to study in Australia for this. Studying will just be a longer and expensive route. Weโ€™ve got ongoing clients with this occupation.

TRA is the authority but it has commissioned a few RTOโ€™s to conduct the assessment on their behalf. This should be explained on TRA website.

The information you provided is very vague to compare and such comparison shouldnโ€™t be a basis of guessing an outcome. For x number of years weโ€™ve been assisting migrants, no case are ever the same.

HRM wonโ€™t suffice to satisfy the formal qualification needed therefore he would need 5 years minimum experience. So if heโ€™s got 3 years, heโ€™ll need 2 more years work experience.

Be very careful to use chef as the nominated occupation. Thereโ€™s a better chance of skills assessment success to nominate cook vs chef. The focus shouldnโ€™t be what visa to apply but what occupation is the best to use to get a positive assessment. Iโ€™ve had clients who initially wanted to apply as chef but we had to downgrade the application to cook because they canโ€™t provide evidences that the tasks they do at work match up the chef tasks as defined by ANZSCO.

Also, cook is on STSOL and can apply for 190 which is a PR visa or 491 which is provisional. It isnโ€™t just for work visa, one can migrate to Australia as a cook.

@RheaMARN1171933 thanks po for your advice. May tanong po ako, possible pa din po ba na magpaassess as Chef regardless the title of the position is cook? (assuming majority of the activities of the things done as cook are qualified under chef).

Also, any idea po ba regarding the ANZSCO definition of dining and catering establishment?

"CHEFS plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food in dining and catering establishments".

@RheaMARN1171933 Hi, quick question, is it possible if I also use my "Chef" TRA skills assessment to nominate "Cook" under visa 190? Or do I need to have a separate Assessment for Cook?
I did my EOI for visa 190 (Chef) couple months ago.
Just wondering as I saw the recent visa 190 invites, which included Cook on the list. Thank you.

@corrappyka_CE Hi, same with my friend, cook siya and applied for TRA JRP - Chef - 351311, and nakuha na nya skills assessment for Chef. Hindi ko lang alam ilang years hiningi sa experience nya. And yung duties/responsibilities, dapat pang chef. Then may cert 4 cookery siya.
Basically, cook ang title niya sa work namin before, pero duties niya pang chef. Icoconfirm din kasi ng TRA kung legit ba yung claim mo na ganto ganyan ang ginagawa mo sa work. Confirmation of Employment from HR including list of duties and total hours worked. Then iconfirm din nila sa nominated direct supervisor mo yung duties mo.
So i think pwede, as long as na fulfill mo yung duties ng chef and meron ka ng iba pang requirements.

You will need to have a skills assessment outcome letter as a cook if you are nominating this occupation.
