for 457 visa holders, requirement to ng DIAC kasi they cannot access Medicare until they get PR.
For PR din naman: a lot of people choose to maintain private health insurance kahit may Medicare na (so, it's over and above Medicare Australia) because of added coverage.
@migik22: I am curious din po. Ano po advice niya regarding health insurance? Thanks!

With insurance, you can have it done privately.
Im a 457 visa holder.. Requirement talaga on our visa to get insurance kasi not legible for publicly funded health care ang work visas.
New p.r. Also may restrictions but at least legible to most hence insurance is still a must for those not covered by the insurance.

Private health doesn't come cheap though. For myself and the family, I pay around $230 per month for top coverage but it give's me a piece of mind. There are still ways to lessen the premium.

I am on a 457 (visitor coverage as well) and recently nag upgrade ako ng coverage. Pero pinatanggal ko yung mga extras. I'm not on Bupa pero tumitingin ako kung alin ang mas maganda.
Salamat!

Sis, yung $300 is family coverage or single? I am around 150 single visitor.

Gp is considered outpatient and still covered.
May 1 year waiting period lng for pregnancy...so definitely no kids yet! Hahahaha.
We dont have extras to save on cost... Anyway, how often do u need glasses or go to the dentist naman. We just wemt home sa pinas couple months back.. Dentist and full check up agad before shopping or meeting families kasi mahal yan dito en:)
Not a bad deal..
