i live in ADL (for almost a year now) and i've been to SYD last December.. maganda sa SYD, marami talagang mapapasyalan. It doesn't even feel like I'm in oz with all the foreigners.. very multicultural city when i went back home, dun ko na-appreciate yung adelaide. we may not have the opera house, etc -- pero I love the fact that cost of living is way affordable and i like how easy it is to get around from one place to another. it only takes 30-40 minutes to go the beach/wineries, etc! i love the fact that i can bring the car to work everyday because parking is affordable in CBD also. i love sydney but adelaide is home (well, for now at least) :P actually, marami naman din mapupuntahan dito sa SA - kelangan mo lang tlg ng car. Haha!
Anyhoo..
Going back to ur question, I would say less job opportunities compared to SYD.

Rent plng namin for a 3-bedroom spacious house is only $270 per week. Friend ko sa Sydney rents a 2-bedroom apartment for $370 a week, another rents a 2-bedroom house for $410 a week.
So far, ang mga nakilala namin na mga kababayan natin dito nakakabili ng sariling bahay in 2 to 4 years after mgka work.

So on the question bad things about Adelaide, on my opinion lg ha kahit saang lugar ka namn pumunta lahat yun my bad things namn ehh.. Ika nga wlang perpektong tao so wlang perpektong lugar din.. So depende na lg yun kng panu m e adapt ang place or environment. Subukan nyong pumunta sa lugar namin dito, on the first look masasabi m kaagad lahat bad ehh..

3. palakasan; see #1

Adelaide
- mas mura and mas malaki ang bahay
- 5 to 30 minutes drive from home to work (pwede ka pa umuwi ng house kapag lunch time)
- walang traffic, if meron very tolerable
- weather here is better dahil walang baha dito unlike in Sydney or NSW
- less jobs because of less population. Sydney has 7.3M compared to 1.6M in Adelaide
- wala masyadong tourist attraction.
- nakakauwi ako ng Pinas for free because I normally request to have my training in the Philippines instead of other state! In fact, I'll be flying again this Friday! Yehey.
Sydney
- mas madaming tourist attraction
- more job opportunities because it's x5 of the population of SA
- most jobs has higher salary because of the cost of living
- most people travels 45mins to 90 mins just to go to work.
- traffic, expensive tollfee, and most people can't bring their car to work (if you work in the CBD).
- I have two sisters and one brother in Sydney yet I prefer to stay in Adelaide.
If you will earn the same income in both state, then comparing Adelaide and Sydney is a no-brainer.

Hi out of interest what is your nominated skill? I suggest have a look first at seek.com.au and see if there are lots of vacancy on which state. The good thing is you are Skilled independent subclass 189 so you can live or work wherever.
About racism, I never had any experience with that since, very multicultural both laboratories that I worked (Red Cross & SA Pathology). And they love us asians kasi masipag at hinde tumatangi sa trabaho.
Same as @sohc, my only relatives here in Australia lives in Sydney, so I guess we have a good comparison of both state. So if finding a job here in SA is not an issue for you and same income in NSW then you will enjoy the cost of living expenses. My 2 bedroom unit is fully furnished at $285 per week (less pa since my friend is renting the other room), by the way I walk to work
As for the Pinoy community, You can always make one with the same interest, and if you happened to be in SA everyone is welcome to join our group. See you again @emjdee & @sohc next weekend, saan tayo kakain next?

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/fUTYgfR7GZw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/n8hgdAXJ8zo?list=UUhAumjy26uts_hvywCSdgvQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
