Not to sugar coat pero I know 2 people with Cobol/MF experience from Singapore who are still looking for work... 10 months and 6 month respectively na sila naghahanap.

@TasBurrfoot are they working odd jobs for them to survive? 6months, mdyo matagal na sa akin yun, dpat pla good for 1 yr yung baon nmin ni misis.

I dont know this security clearance thingy pero nitong current employer ko I was given a police clearance check detailing my last home address for the past 10 months ... DETAILED like this from this month to this month and year in this address .. or from this day to this day of the year in this country .... and a signed waiver that I give consent to the security agency to search or to obtain any information regarding my travels

im guessing its the same thing ......

Australian citizenship (you must be able to provide evidence); and

Hi guys! Cobol programmer din po ako, medyo nag aalala at wala gaanong job posts, kung meron man kelangan naman ay Citizen or PR. Kaso 489 visa lang ako.

Naku po mainframe background ko, banking pa. Eversince dumating kami dito last feb iilang job advertisement palang ang MF. Tapos karamihan pa is gusto AU citizen for the baseline clearance since most of them are govt accounts. Fulltime mum ako ngaun dito.

malaki swelduhan ng cobol dito sa Pinas. nagsisi nga ako dati bakit hindi ako nag cobol when i had the opportunity. some of my colleagues na cobol expert are earning big time. you can 6digits when you are cobol expert.

yes mataas sya now sa pinas kasi madami demand now..

pero minsan nambabarat din sila kapag alam nilang madaming supply.. but generally mataas talaga bigayan ng mainframe sa pinas pwera lang sa accenture kapag junior days mo pa lolz..

sa AU naman, yes mataas din ang mainframe pero as of now, medyo konti ang demand, paisa-isa lang at kadalasan by referral pa.. sana mag mass hiring dahil sa isang malaking project or data/system migration.. :-)

hi @pmzinoz! naku, parang coke pa rin po job-hunting ko - ZERO! waaah! may mga COBOL jobs naman ang kaso hindi lang basta COBOL hanap nila, yung iba ang gusto may HOGAN, ACUCobol, etc na experience which is wala ako unfortunately

Magttry na rin po ako magpasa as entry-level sa .net, java, web development at kahit dba. kelangan lang maka-tyempo ng company na willing mag-train ng mga kagaya ko.

depende how you define mataas. PHP100-150k? alam ko depende rin sa Industry, nung nasa CPF Board pa ko nag wowork, sweldo ay nakadepende kung perm staff ka or contract. most of my contract mainframe colleague before raging from S$3k - $S5k (x 33 pesos).

I'm also a mainframe/cobol developer and am planning to migrate to Australia. Kumusta po demand sa mainframe jobs ngayon jan? Sa mga nabasa ko parang mahirap humanap ng work pag nasa linya ka ng mainframe. Ganon pa rin ba ngayon?

@eyakcire21 Im a MF/cobol developer. Very in demand ang position na eto dahil sa specific requirement.

as you may already know, normally those who still use MF/cobol in Australia are either financial institutions or Govt Departments...

you get to have access to sensitive data therefore 90% of jobs required IT applicants to be AU Citizen and have Security Clearance.

Pay rate ranges from $90 - $130 per hour.

Buhayin natin ang cobol. Kumusta na ang job hunting? Cobol MF programmer din ako, mag 2 months na ako dito sa melbourne pero wala pa din akong nakukuhang trabaho na related sa field ko, as of now nag wowork akong janitor sa hotel hehe, tas nag aaral ako ng c# .net sa spare time at pag day off kasi yun ang madami akong nakikitang opening.

there are 8 ads in SEEK for cobol related jobs, infact there were 2 ads posted in the last couple of days.

Hello. Currently DBA ~ MF ako tanong ko lang po kung kamusta ang opportunities sa MF lalo na sa melbourne? Planning to migrate na kasi pero hindi makalipat sa ibang career
kasi sayang naman work experience. Thank you.
