@gmad06 What I did was I modified my CV and cover letter every time I apply for a job. So kung ilan yung job applications ko, thats how many CV's and cover letter I have. I modified based on the job description, and tried to use similar words. I was thinking they may be running a software to identify how relevant your CV is based on the words.

So far it worked for me, naka ilang tawag din at interviews. Im still applying for other jobs, but as a start okay na.

Nope I did not. I started to get interviews about 3 weeks after I submitted the applications. It does take time, so just be patient and positive.

Sir, pahingi ng referral huh? Building maintenance here mainly air conditioning system operation. Malapit nako mag 1.5 months here pero ni 1 call wala pang tumatawag. Nakakalungkot lang pero hindi tayo susuko.

@IslanderndCity Nope. I received generic rejection letters. There were no mention of me being off shore as the reason. But I have an Australian address when I was applying for jobs off-shore.

I arrived in Sydney a year ago, I got a job in 2 weeks (interview and offer), so mdyo sinuwerte ako. Anyhow, ito ginawa ko to increase my chances.

1) i-adjust nyo yung resume nyo and ilagay nyo key words na na-mention sa job description. Ang mga job hunter, gumagamit lang ng search yan to filter mga applicants. Ma-trabaho? Yes, ganun lang talaga, wala silang ibang tool pang-filter kundi search.

2) Tawagan nyo yung nag-post kung nag-iwan ng number, this gives you 30 seconds para ibenta sarili so prepare kung ano sasabihin nyo in 30 seconds.

3) Take a junior role (yung job na nakuha ko is junior compared sa ginagawa ko before). Give it a year or so (yung iba 6 months). Ako personally, after a year sabi ng boss ko wala pa talaga opportunity, so nag-hanap ako ibang company and finally got the job level and salary level na hinahanap ko. Nag-paalam ako ng maayos sa current company ko and will start sa new company soon. Tinanong ako ng new company, bakit ka aalis ng current company mo, sabi ko, wala na senior role eh, nag-start ako low to get familiar with the culture ng Aussie and now I'm ready for a more senior role.

4) Volunteer. Salvation Army, sa church nyo, sa embassy. Then ilagay mo sa CV mo, at least may pakita ka na may ginagawa ka habang nag-hahanap ng work and may chance ka pa maki-network at malay mo dun ka pa makahanap ng job. May maibigay ka pa reference sa AU.

On point number 3, gustong gusto ng recruiter yung sort of matagal na experience related dun sa job at mdyo too senior na especially kung agreeable ka sa suweldo. Why? Mas mataas chance na yung candidate nila makuha, ang commission ng mga yan ranges from 10-35% depende sa seniority ng role. (Mas mataas kung executives syempre).

hi guys. we just arrived ni hubby @eronpol sa Brissy last Sunday. Yesterday, I got the job offer. same work sa Ph. sa laboratory din. I was applying for an entry level post pero nagulat ako at senior post binigay sakin. nakakatakot. si @eronpol naman, for medical na today sa food mfg na inapply-an nya. Although di pa nya alam if tatanggapin na nya tong work na to kasi may interview uli sya sa Tuesday e mas madali puntahan yung company na yun kahit commute.. bahala na.. Production Engr kasi yun sa Ph so same din work pagdating dito. Downside is malayo yung work namin pareho sa bahay namin so we decided to buy a second hand car na. Monday kami upo for written test. ako for learners kasi expired Ph license ko, sya naman, ok daw license nya for 3 months pa..

Ive worked for the orange DU back in the philippines for over a year. As per my experience, mostly protection and control, scada, asset planning, and sa linya ang opportunities. And oh, yung mga lineman in demand din.

Wala pang kumontact sakin na DU so far.

@jme In my case, Im going to Sydney and as far as I have checked, electrical design engineers have a decent market around the place. If you're into operations-based jobs, I think Melbourne would suit you better.
