Hey Everyone! Admin here, It's a bit overdue but I will be migrating our forum site to a new platform for better security. I will take out all the ads as well as these pesky spammers. Please expect a bit of issues here and there, and will slowly move the features to the new one. Don't worry we are very much alive and will be alive as long as I'm here :)

Hi, I'm an Aussie living in Sydney. Just joined here, to ask a question. I want to send a box containing a second hand oscilloscope, as a gift to a friend living on the island of Bohol, Philippines. The box weight: 8Kg, size: 50 x 57 x 24 cm. By Australia post Express Post International it will cost $132.30 (Has signature on delivery and tracking.) My Filipino friend can't currently afford that postage, and it's a bit much for me too. Does anyone know a cheaper way to get such a box to him? Speed does not matter, but making sure it's not dropped or vanished, does. I can put in about $50 and he has P1,200. Another problem is he is unable to find out the formula for Philippines import duty. He seems to think government Customs just make up a value to pay, but I doubt it. It would be good to know how the fee is decided. Based on box size? Weight? Item value? What? How do I find this information?
