Hi everyone!

I just want to share my PTE-A success story. I need superior score para sa target kong PR visa. So I took the IELTS exam in 2018:

Sept 2018 (written exam) scores:
L - 8.5
R - 9
W - 7
S - 7.5

di ako pumasa, dahil minimum Band 8 in each. so nag retake ako, computer-based IELTS naman after a month:

Oct 2018 scores:
L - 9
R - 8.5
W - 7
S - 7.5

waaaaah super na-depress ako after this, hindi mura ang IELTS tas naka-2 pa akong take. So after this nag-stop and relax muna ako, then started considering to take PTE-Academic by late Nov 2018. So inaral ko ang PTE-A format, techniques (na marami dito sa forum, btw!), and watched youtube vids (favorite ko si Jay ng E2Language). To cover all bases, nag-enroll pa ako sa JRooz Makati for 5 weekends starting Dec 15.

After grumaduate sa review center, di pa ako totally confident (and may trauma pa din from previous 2 "failed" exams), so I delayed 3 more weeks before booking my final exam in Feb 2019.

So nung exam day, syempre kabado and all, tapos mayghad, maingay sa PTE-A exam room! (unlike sa IELTS na tahimik lang) and sobrang nakakakaba, time-pressured and dinig mo ingay ng katabi and nasa likod, lalo keyboard takataktak nila. I also remember not being able to organize 2 of my Describe Image and 1 retell lecture (di ko nagawan ng conclusion, or nag-trail off ako sa last few words ng closing sentence ko) so medyo depressed ulit paglabas ko ng exam room.

then later nung gabi, same date ng exam, i received the official report thru email, with my scores:

L - 90
R - 90
W - 90
S - 90

So yes, very grateful to God and very very happy na makaka-push through na with the planned application! Ang moral of the story: Never Give Up! When you fall twice, rise up 5 more times!

Kaya nyo rin po yan, study lang and pray harder.

@steven Akala ko akala lang nagkaproblem sa microphone with headset na ito. Same lang itong model ito sa Trident MakaTI with a few Platronics Headphones

@JHONIEL tingin ko naperfect ko po sir, kasi ung 2 lumabas nasa review ko tapos ung 1 maikli ln. kelan take mo sir? kaso ung repeat sentence hindi, malaki din siguro contribution neto.

After 4 takes, I finally achieved my superior scores!

I took my PTE exam yesterday 8am. I was surprised na by 7pm last night may results na. Grabe kaba ko while waiting to download ung pdf file.

I’ll share my experience later... (in a separate post) Medyo may inaasikaso lang po kasi today.

Hello! Took my exam yesterday and just received my scores today. Hindi ako umabot sa reading! huhu. Saang area kaya ako kinapos dito? Possible kaya na sa RA? kasi ang baba nung pronunciation ko sa enabling skills eh. Okay kaya na mag take ako agad next week or magreview pa muna ako ng ilang week?

@tigerlance nahirapan talaga ako sa headset nato,...
Actually nung first take ko, itong headset na to yung ginamit ko...nag mic testing ako for 10 minutes i think, sobrang tagal ko at nilapitan na ako ng invigilator.

Nung unang take ko, kahit anong mic positions, di talaga okay yung quality.. compared sa mga headset na ginamit ko during practice.... :-(

Pero sa awa ng Panginoon, I managed to get 90 sa speaking that time. Pero ngayon, parang hindi ako nag exam ng speaking...10 points lang lahat ng speaking components...(enabling/communicative)

@von1xx kayang kya na masuperior yan!!! Taas Ng scores mo..nadali ka lng ata sa single answers dito.Sa MCMA, May negative markings Yan, ingat.. mukhang perfect Ang WFD mo dito ahh... Practice more sa SST, RS, HIW, FIB since listening na Lang ipolish mo.. God bless!! Rooting for you sa superior next week!! Galing!

@irl031816 yes mukhang RA Ang prob sa Reading mo, Yan May pinakamalaking score sa Reading.. Enunciate more Ang words, lalo Yung 3-4 syllables na words. Ulit ulitin mo sya sa preparation time,Yan na Lang naman ipolish mo, include mo na FIB, SWT.. You’ll be superior na next! God bless..

Hi, may question lang po ako sa speaking. What is more advisable? Nagsstart na po ba kayo agad pagkabeep or is it okay na hintayin kahit mag 1 second na muna then doon lang magsalita?

Then regarding po sa time ng describe image and re tell lecture, is it okay na sagad 40 seconds time limit or kahit mga 38 seconds (or may mas advisable time) then click next agad na lang po? Thank you!

@marise32 whichever is comfortable sayo Po, practice Nyo nacapture Po ba lahat Ng sinasabi nyo? Sa akin pagkabeep, antay ko konti Ang 1 sec then speak, Ganon kasi nakasanayan ko sa practice ko kasi kuha Ang first word. Pero depende din Po sa inyo Yun.

Not necessarily na sagad, Basta Nasabi mo na mga details ok na Yun. Ako tapos na ako mga 36-38 seconds then next.. Goodluck sa exam..

@marise32 Wala naman yata minus if you start ng 1 second after the beep stops, pero ako nagsalita agad after ng beep eh. Sa DI, wag mo isagad ng 40 secs, maccutoff ang sentence mo, minus points un. Stop ka na ng 35-38 secs. then click next.

@von1xx parehas tyo ng case nung malapit ko na makuha superior. Laging Listening sablay ko, kaya na yan masuperior next week. Sa review mo, allot ka ng more time sa podcast. Pag pinatagal pa ksi ang retake baka mawala momentum. God bless on next take!

@irl031816 possible na RA, possible dn na Reading Fill in the Blanks or Reorder Paragraph. Kung 3 items nakuha mo na Reorder Paragraphs (kagaya nung nangyari saken), malaki dn percentage nya sa scoring.

@marise32 I suggest, wag po isagad ng 40 secs. Tama po si @kaiminamoto malaki po tapyas sa score kapag na cut off. In my case po, yung second to the last take (na nagpalit sila ng headset sa Trident), na cut off po ako ng mic sa RL dahil exceeded sa 40 secs response ko. Ang nangyari, Speaking ang di ko nasuperior, the rest is 79+.

@steven bro, confirmed yung headset na sinabi mo, which is (Andrea EDU-455 USB) yan yung pinalit na headset sa Trident Makati second to the last attempt ko, yung sinasabi ko na may kasabayan kaming nag exam ng HAAD. Yan yung sinasabi ko na di ako bilib sa recording kasi parang basag. Kapag pinag compare to vs. plantronics, mas bilib pa rin ako kay plantronics. Maganda kasi audio output ni plantronics, saka less maririnig mo sa mga katabi mo, unlike yung Andrea, halos kalahati na yung volume level ko, mas malakas pa rin yung mga boses ng katabi ko at parang normal headset audio output lang.

@lecia @kaiminamoto @Supersaiyan Thank you po. Sa practice ko din naman hinihintay ko lang din muna mag 1sec pero baka po kasi mas okay na magspeak agad pagkabeep.

Then iyong sa DI, for example, nagconclude na po ako then natapos ng 35 or 38 seconds next agad, wala naman po bawas iyon? akala ko po kasi dapat sakto lagi ng 40 seconds.

@marise32 wala pong bawas yun kapag less than 40 seconds po response nyo. Basta try to hit 30 - 38 secs containing maximum keywords and keyphrases sa response nyo po lalo sa RL para maximize points po kayo.

@marise32 any headset will do po, pero kapag mag take po kayo ng mock exams (which is scored), much better kung yung headset po na may quality gamitin.

@Supersaiyan noted po. hindi ko na isasagad sa next practice may mairerecommend po ba kayo na magandang headset na gamitin for scored mock exams? Iyon po sana gagamtin ko pag itetake ko na mock test b.

Hello po, ask ko lang po if advisable po ba ang mag sulat sa RS? and ano pong strategy nyo sa WFD? direct type na sa computer? Thank you in advance...
