only to realise di mo makukuha yung work try again or maybe lose your 30 days visit visa tapos balik ka sa pinas. (exit ka to another asean country) goodluck sa language barrier na mas matindi kesa sa nakagisnan mong english.

kung feeling mo mas mahirap dito sa OZ maghanap nang trabaho maybe you should rethink your strategy kase i have seen far worse competitive nature sa SG kesa dito sa OZ.

laid back ang work ko considering nasa construction industry ako at nakita ko sa ACS mo software engineer ka. supposedly nakaupo lang kayo sa office doing your thing. sa kaso ko hindi ganoon pero sa SG umuuwe kame nang 1 - 2am matapos lang mga construction drawings namen. >> araw araw to bihira sa isang linggo uuwe kayo on time imaginin mo nalang to.

laidback ang work ko dito kasi hindi nangyayari yan tapos every friday may inuman kame at get together may mga activities din like bushwalking, wall climbing at kung ano ano pang events etc.

so I don't know bakit mo naeexperience to, plus salary wise mas ok salary ko dito kumpara sa SG na tadtad nang workload.

about sa TAX? this is by far the most far fetched reasoning tungkol sa tax. kung natataasan kayo kumpara sa pinas imaginin mo kaltas nan gkaltas sayo sa pinas kada kinsenas tapos hindi mo maramdaman improvement sa atin.

mantala SG na 2% grabe naman ang infrastructure bakit satin hindi ganoon?

dito sa australia fair lang yun kasi papaano ung ikaw naman yung nasa stiwasyon nang mga taong yun malamang govt din tutulong sayo.

consider mo na healthcare at medicare wala kame binayaran naospital anak ko.

@thegreatiam15 Kanya kanya Lang siguro talaga. I have been to SG, ok din pero parang impossible or it will take a really long time to get their citizenship. 2nd most powerful passport pa naman sila. I've been to US. For ok siya na vacation place. Preference Lang, I wouldn't like settling there. I can't explain eh, medyo I don't think I would be happy there. Kaya eto will try if suwertehin sa AU. And based on comments of my friends, okay daw diyan. Plus if it doesn't work, I think yung pr visa will allow you to work and live sa NZ

@thegreatiam15 First dont compare AU and SG on job searching coz in SG you came under temporary pass while in AU you were granted with permanent resident. Obviously, mas may edge yun may PR visa coz they're not bound to time limits to find work and settle in. But I just want to point out na even you have PR visa in AU that doesn't make the situation favorable for you the competition is as tight as it could be in SG. Hindi parin ganun kadali makahanap ng work at kaabundant ang job workforce like I read from some comments here, I knew some taken a year to find a work, others were 6 months, 4 months maswerte na yun a month nakakita na agad. One reason making it hard to find work in AU is the presence of middle agency. Most of the job posted in seek are handled by recruiter. If you can get direct to company better but mostly its in the hands of the recruiter if you are up for a face to face interview. This is mostly the case in IT I don't know about other profession.

Second, I got to have my own share of stressful life in IT pero don't say na we just sit there doing our thing kasi inaabot din kami ng madaling araw to complete and make the code working on top of everyday scrum meetings. We even had to go to work on weekends and holidays if needed. Dealing with technology and platforms, that sometimes we don't have any idea how to do but we need to so mega research and reading. Maybe it's the reason I was push to go to AU kasi laidback daw. Yes it's true that there are jobs here that is laidback you go to work at 8am-4pm others have more time for their family. Pero in IT, yes you can go home early nobody is telling you to stay late but we still do work at home pag malapit na ang deadline.


And last I want to point out, mataas ang tax dito sa AU highest cost of living compared to other country like US, Canada. Going back to PH, syempre wala talaga serbisyo ang govt doon tapos mataas din ang tax. Sa tax kinukuha ng govt ng AU ang benepisyo sa medicare, and that doesn't mean wala ka binayaran sa ospital ng anak mo makes it free. Mas mataas ang tax ng mga walang private healthcard. I don't know if you are satisfied with the public care pero in my observation mas magaling pa ang mga doktor sa pinas rather than going to GP here. May it be in pinas or AU you may need good specialist doctors and you need to pay for the service kaya take good care of your health it's your wealth.

As I said, to each is own it may work for you but may not work for me. The price of housing and commodities here on top of higher tax and being late in some trend is what pushing me away. But if you find laidback lifestyle here and it works for you then good and fine. But for me iba parin ang saya sa Pinas deadma na lang sa mga inefficiency basta I got good savings here and bring it home.

Sorry I don't mean to be disrespectful, but doesn't that conclude, your life is better dahil nandiyan ka? It may not be happier, but it's better? In terms of sacrifice reward ratio, safe conclusion ba na sulit pa din ang punta mo diyan despite all of your problems there?

@xiaolico why not make the most out of it nandito na ako why not get the citizenship if it can be a passport for other opportunity outside AU. The reason I dont like it here is the high price of everything. It's impossible to own a house in Sydney forever rent malaki portion ng sweldo napupunta doon add the other expenses like food, utilities and transpo. Mali lang siguro ako ng expectation na in AU mataas ang per hour nila which is mataas din ang cost of living at tax. let say you get 5K salary per month, deduct ang tax and superannual magiging 3K plus na lang, like my friends told me mas malaki parin daw ang sweldo sa SG or if i would think about it hindi rin naman pala ganun kalaki ang savings compared kung magwowork sa PH as IT professional. But then sabi nila the laidback life is what they are here for pero how laidback could it be, depende rin.

If better for you is, not dealing with traffic and yun laidback na 6 pm sarado na mostly ang mga store. family oriented nga sila if that's what you called pero nabored ako sa ganun lalo na wala naman kami masyado kamaganak dito. Safety wise I dont feel safe walking at night alone may snatching din na nagaganap dito lalo na sa blacktown. This is just based on my experience as I said iba yun sayo iba yun sakin.

@orengoreng that ka. First time I've hear of a negative feedback kasi. And it's actually good. Syempre it's better to look at all angles. To good and the bad. I'm still looking for someone na pag sinabi ayaw diyan, yung uuwi ng pinas. When you say make the most out of it, that means, well for me ha, you're still getting something better there kaysa sa pinas. If it's really bad kasi, Di biro yung citizenship. 5yrs ata diyan to get it. Like for me, Di ko kinaya yung US. 6 months, I went back home. Never mind getting a citizenship. Di sulit for me. @xiaolico 4 years lang ang citizenship dito pero make it more than 4.5 years dahil magaasikaso ka pa ng papers oauth taking. Talaga uwi kaagad pag hindi nagustuhan hindi ba pwede magsacrifice muna kasi malaki rin yun binayad ko sa immigration. Tsaka yun citizenship can make me eligible to work in US or Canada for 2 years or NZ and Europe. I wonder why you give up living in the US in that short span of 6 months PR ka ba doon? Baka lang you give up too quick din dito considering mas malaki ang market ng US kesa AU at entertainment wise nandoon lahat. But then it's only you who can tell how long can you stay here based on your priority good luck.

@orengoreng ok 4.5. Ang haba pa din nun. I guess yung sacrifice reward nga. It wasn't worth it for me. Medyo malungkot and I didn't like the people that much. I was on a work visa. I think yung pr visa sa AU and lahat ng gastos would be around 400k. Am not sure na, I try to forget about it hehe. Pero yeah, if I feel it's not worth it, bawiin ko Lang or kahit close to 400k, uwi ako ng pinas. Di pa naman ako approved and of course there's a chance of being rejected. I have seen all the reasons if given a chance why I should try this. I haven't seen any reason why I should. I do consider everything you said. I am grateful. And I really do hope your sacrifices just to get that passport will be worth it

so currently anong visa hawak mo? hindi ka pa approved tapos hindi pwede icompare ang SG at AU pagdating sa visas? 400k is nothing compared sa security nang children ko sa totoo lang kasi eto naman point bakit karamihan satin nagmimigrate dito.

i don't get it kasi kung kaya mo tiisin yung 4.5 years means may magandang nangyayari sayo. Pero kung wala so be it no one stops you from leaving AU sa totoo lang

But for now, from what I gathered, kahit kalimutan natin yung 400k na gastos, AU is a good gamble. Walang angle Ako na nakikita pa for now na bad move to. And yun nga, Wala pa ko nakita na umuwi from there dahil sa lungkot at hirap. Unlike sa US SG Canada at NZ. Thanks din sa comment, good luck din sa yo.

@Captaion_A single here matagal tagal din ako nagjobhunting 4months. never been to melbourne or brisbane pero dito sa sydney me nagbased kasi dito me hnap ng work. Been to regional NSW where you can see the laidback living in AU lakes beach and barby hehe. pero yun nga siguro d ko naappreciate kasi single ako wala masyado perks sa AU mahal kasi and the cost of living naeeatup nya yun salary. pero maybe for family person they would have other perspective. Come and see for yourself.

naka based sya 1yr mula sa medicals issuance mo or police clearance (whichever is earlier). or 6 months from visa grant date if may health issue ka..

may mga kakilala ako sa US kahit dun na sila nagaral at nagtapos hirap na hirap sila makakuha work yung iba nagppm din saken papaano makarating dito di ko masagot kasi nga outskilled sila nang mga skilled na nagmimigrate dito. ang thinking ko kung walang competitive spirit sa mentality nila nasa US palang sila then same din ang mangyayari pag pumunta sila dito unless target nila eh yung mga common na trabaho baka pwede pa.

I am sure kakayanin at mas magiging well off ka dito napatunayan ko yan nagkaroon din ako doubts at natakot din ako nung nagresign na ako SG tapos naiisip ko baka hindi ako makakuha work.

May questions ako. Programmer din kasi ako, baka makapag-bigay ka lang ng idea sa kung ano ie-expect ko sa Australia/Sydney.

1. Nung ininterview ka for software development (ina-assume ko software developer ang role mo ngayon diyan), ano mga tinanong sa iyo? Meron bang hands-on programming exam (or kahit pseudo-code sa papel) o puro theoretical, concepts and past experiences lang?

2. Yung size nung company mo ngayon, less than 100 employees pababa ba o malaking kumpanya na established na? Kaya ko tinatanong ito, kasi curious ako kung meron bang malaking kumpanya na grabe magpa-overtime sa field ng programming kahit diyan sa AU. Kasi isa ito sa gusto kong takasan sa Pilipinas.

Ang mga kakilala kong programmers (iilan pa lang silang andiyan), ang consensus e, mas relaxed ang timelines/deadlines sa Australia pag medyo malaki-laking kumpanya ang napasukan mo, pero kapag maliit na start-up/software house ang naging trabaho mo, may chance na patayan pa rin ang work.

3. Anong programming languages ang gamit mo diyan saka ano usually ginagawa mo pag stuck ka sa code or debugging? Me napapagtanungan ka bang senior programmer o talagang bahala ka sa buhay mong humanap ng solution? Isa sa stressor kasi sa trabaho e kung wala kang support group (sa Pinas, meron namang ganito).

ayus atleast naka pag motivate ako. may few friends din ako dito pero madalang kamemagkita kasi nasa ibang state ako catchup lang whenever we could.

for sure saglit lang yung time frame na need mo nang help sa friends mo biglang well off ka agad. kung d makakuha work enjoyin mo lang yung free time kasi once nagstart kana ikaw naman maghahanap nang free time

And Di ka naman responsible for anyone's life but yours. So kahit ubusin mo pera mo, buhay mo Lang naman nakataya and not your kids or wife . Do you still advice Au for single people?

Personal experience/ opinion. Before ako nagmigrate sa Australia, nagwork na ako sa Singapore for 6 years so kahit paano nakaluwag luwag, nakapagpundar ng maliit na condo unit,etc. We moved to Australia kasi wala na halos chance maging PR dun, so forever OFW na ung kalagayan mo and may chance mareject ung visa, plus gusto din mabago ung lifestyle na hindi stressful and future ng family. Almost 2 years na kami dito, and in fairness medyo nakakamiss ung Singapore (city feel, convenience, efficiency, etc. sguro sa tagal na din). Pero cguro kung may chance baka dalaw nalang or titira/ work lang ako ulit dun for 1-2 yrs then balik ulit dito (para maiba lang ulit ang environment), .

Kung single ako, siguro mas pipiliin ko Singapore kesa dito or ibang lugar gaya ng London/UK or Dubai at magiipon ng maraming pera. Like sa Singapore, marami kang magagawa dun kapag single ka, alam cguro yan ng mga nanggaling dun . Kung dito siguro, ok lang pero sa Sydney ako mag stay and hanap ng gf na puti, tapos travel2 lang kapag may time. Tsaka dito kasi may chance ka magka Aussie passport so malaking bagay

@vhoythoy nagsisi ka ba na umalis ka ng SG heheheheheh.. well kakadalawang isip naman talaga umalis ng SG kasi kahit papaano pwede na rin may settle dito, plus kung matipid ka talgang makakaipon ka kasi di kalakihan ang tax lalo't may family ka kasi may tax relief.. pero pag may family ka, mapapa isip ka rin kung okay ba dito sa SG for long term or not. Education medyo malaki na rin ang sch fee diff for citizen and PR at lalo't pag foreigner ka laki ng babayaran mo. Although, PR na kami nag try pa rin kami mag apply OZ kasi we are thinking of a long term plan for our kids. Pero I'm sure big adjustment ang mangyayari pag dating namin sa OZ kaya we should prepare ourselves.. hehehehehehe... anyway still waiting for visa result. hehehehehe

ke single o may pamilya ka, it's good to work toward the goal of obtaining a first world country's passport because it affords you the opportunity to travel w/ ease (wala nang hassle sa visa restricted countries). kung single ka at adik magtravel, this is for you. kung may pamilya ka at iniisip ang kinabukasan ng anak mo, congrats, nabigyan mo sya ng mas maraming options kesa PH passport lang ang hawak nya.

ang pinaka-"madali" so far na bansa na makuha yan among the 4 (Pinas/SG/US/Canada) ay Australia. (not sure sa Canada, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

SG vs AU: AU, dahil sa "ease" of obtaining citizenship

AU vs Canada: AU, dahil mas mahirap maging PR sa Canada (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) saka mas in demand trabaho ko (IT) sa AU.

SG vs Canada: Depende kung ano habol mo. Pag citizenship, Canada, tapos pagtiisan mo na lang maghanap ng trabaho.

Pinas: madaling balikan. mas makakatulong ka pa sa ekonomiya nya in the future kung dito mo gagastusin yung pension/kita mo from another country. saka in the event na maging maayos ang Pinas 10/20 years from now, e di masaya ang retirement mo. kung ganito pa din o mas malala pa e di "buti pala andito ako sa AU/Canada/Singapore"
