Medicare for pregnant non-PR partner of a Permanent Resident

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I just have an enquiry. I am a PR visa holder and my girlfriend holds a work visa (not PR). We just found out that she is pregnant and would like to apply for a partner visa. Several questions:
1. We do not live together as she is in Sydney and I am in Melb. Will there be an issue?
2. Will she be covered by medicare given I am a PR visa holder and by that time, we should have lodge her partner visa by then.
