^^ @ rofl i suggest you go for CMA australia via ICMA. Management accounting is specialised field as compare to accountants. But since employers tends to look for cpa/ca normally you can go for CPA na din. CPA CMA is a good combination

If you want to pursue external auditing/ or taxation CA is preferable.

Pwede ba pagsabayin kumuha ng CPA and CMA?

@Neng - thanks po sa inputs. Iniisip ko kasi na baka mas malaki ang chance na makakuha ng work if may mga bala ako ng CPA or CMA. Was also planning to get certificate 4 in accounting.

well..for me...medyo mahirap pero some are lucky to get a job in 2 months time. I spoke with someone who is a Uni grad ( studied accounting here) and siya mismo..nahiraman maghanap ng work. Pero, for me lang. it might be a case to case basis.

Totoo yan... Andami kasi Accounting graduate before plus mga immigrants na accountant; with the economy not creating enough jobs and even outsource job to save on cost, mahihirapan talaga makahanap ng work!

Pero keep fighting, there is something out there naman for us...

@Allysond - (a) put it this way, kahit onshore ka, mahirap na...

    (b) kung nasa pinas ka pa with visa - not impossible but definitely mas mahirap sa situation a above...

    (c) kung nasa pinas ka with no visa - it is a futile effort i guess dahil, in the event na swertihin ka talaga and you get the job, they will look for evidence that you are eligible to work in australia.

whereabouts are you now with regards to your visa processing? take it easy lang... :)

    Hi sir,

I am really interested in your posts. Congrats to your wife getting a job and your new life there in Australia. May I ask about the career talk you mentioned that suggested the customised PPT? This could really be beneficial. I am also an Accountant and planning to come down under soon. Hope we can keep in touch.

Btw, bisaya ka bai? I think I saw your post once regarding Bisaya peeps in Melbourne.

    Salamat kaayo.

    Thanks @jka11383

Sure bai, what do you need to know?

The talk was part of the many forums included in a recent career expo here in VIC - that specific topic is regarding getting a job for new migrants...

Whilst that can be added points to the interview, it is very important to note that getting noticed to be invited for an interview is probably the hardest part in the whole job search process... :)

Have you gotten your visa already? Whereabouts do you plan to settle?

Hello bai. Thanks for the reply. Just want to know if maybe I can join a similar career fair in the near future. This would give good insights. I actually have my visa and waiting to make my first move there. I am thinking of going to Sydney cause I know some peeps or to Melbourne where most companies in the industry I am in are based.

Sakto jud ka bai. Getting an interview invite is the the most challenging of the job hunting process. In other forums, there are plenty of people in the same boat.

What field are you in bai? Really appreciate all your insights in this thread.

@jka11383 - Banking/Financial Services ako; operations side of the business - how about yourself?

You can definitely join a similar career fair when you arrive here. Events such as these pops in every so often. You just need to pay a minimal entrance fee for it.

    Goodluck!!

Job is a bit tight right now...

I got 2 mates in Sydney before, it took them more than 6 months to get a job... Couple sila.

My wife got a contract work on her 2nd month; and 2 wks ago lang sya na regular after around 9 months. Been trying to move for a better company but no luck so far, this will do for now at least she can gain local experience.

Ang iba naman swerte, former officemate ni misis was able to land a job after a month lang.

All I spoke of above are accountants.

We're into our third month here in MEL and second month applying but facing some difficulty in getting favorable response from employers but I am not the least bit worried as I am here for the long haul. Since I got a lot of time on my hands, I decided to enroll for my CPA Program. Some established accountants here also advised me to enroll in OQP with NMIT to get acquainted with the AU job hiring process and to have an opportunity to work and train with partnered companies. God bless us all! ;)

Wow, a bit scary. Hopefully madami pang opportunities dito sa Perth for accounting.

More than 10years na din work experiences nya at mostly full sets ang hawak nya. May God be with us in our new journey here in AU.

Hello po. Migrated last may 15 2013. I am now working as a bookkeeper. Nagtrtry rin ako mag-apply for better oppprtunity pero no interviews. Based sa nababasa ko..may over supply na ata ng accountants. That's why would like to check the real status of the job market for accountants. Hopefully may magshare pa na iba. Thanks po sa mga inputs.

@rolf021 - which state are you residing ba?

true na may oversupply; simply a lot of people competing for an opening. harsh as it may sound, my wife is actually welcoming the news that they may remove accountants as part of the skilled occupation this coming july. at least daw it will give accountants who are already here a chance to find a work suitable for their skills set.
