How to put daughter in childcare

gelchinggelching Posts: 1Member

Hello po good day to all. I am a single mom flying hopefully very soon to Sydney to work as a registered nurse in a private hospital and might work shifting hours (morning and afternoon). My concern po is I am bringing along my 5-yo daughter with me and I am looking for options on how I am going to place my daughter for any type of care while I am away? Ano po suggestions nyo? Will be holding employer-sponsored visa subclass 457 upon successful grant. Thank you so much po :)

you can look for available childcare centres near your place where you will be staying or even near the hospital you will be working at. kaso childcare normally operates from 7am-6pm, so hopefully your shift will be within those hours. also, you should be enroling your daughter into school next year, kaya mas ok kung nakatira kayo malapit sa school na may before and after school care.

Goodluck on your visa application. Medyo mahirap bringing your 5 year old child esp Sydney and on a shift work as nurse. Though childcare is possible, opening hours may not be favourable sa working hours mo. I suggest bring someone with you ( ie relative/partner) to help you while adjusting your new life here.

@gelching mas ok if you have relatives here that could take care of your kid while you are at work. also, childcare fee will cost you an average of $100/day especially you are not on PR visa.

@IamTim Depende sa state kung free ang public school for temporary visa holders. You can read about it here https://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/english/australian-education/bringing-your-children

Child care subsidies are income tested. Note na maski citizens may binabayaran pa rin for child care.

@gelching hindi ba nireplace na ng 482 visa ang 457?

Find a childcare online na malapit sa work or balak mong tirhan. Check their fees and calculate magkano babayaran mo per week. Walang childcare subsidy pag hindi PR or citizen. It costs 100++ per day.

@IamTim private entities may ari ng mga childcare centre kaya hindi ito libre unlike state schools na funded ng govt. Meron childcare subsidy for citizens and selected visas.

Assuming that you will have night shifts, best option is if you can have somebody to give care to her while you are at work, like a relative. Your daughter will be starting school with her age, and OSHC normally starts at around 6am in the morning, and ends at 6pm in the evening. If you'll be working nightshifts, you'll need someone to care for her during the night. That's tough, but you might be able to talk with your employer or supervisor and work out a fair schedule that will suit your situation.
There can be miracles when you believe...
