Philippine non-prof driver's license or International driver's license

Question lang, ano ba mas maganda dalhin pagdating AU. Non-prof driver's license o International driver's license? Any difference in terms of pag-papaconvert to AU drivers license o parehas din ang process?
Kasi uuwi ako sa pinas for 4 days only. Iniisip ko kung renew ko lang ang expired kong phil drivers license(non-prod) o pa-convert ko pa ito into International. Thanks!

kung work visa ka, use Philippine license. kung PR obviously, Oz license

Yes that is true, under 457 visa: just use ur philippine license. Sayang lang ang fee for the international driver's license, ganun din naman and may expiry pa ung international. When u become an resident that is the time u will be required ng Oz license.

Reply to @emjdee: I think po pag naka temporary visa like 475 is pwede mo pa rin gamitin yung DL mo sa Oz. Yung required lang ata nila talga na magkaroon ng Oz DL is yung mga PR. Yun din po ang sabi sakin ni sir @sohc naka 475 visa din sya sa SA.

yup pwede pa din yung Phil DL. Kahit papano may advantage din ang pagiging temp visa lalo na sa work na nagrerequire ng unrestricted DL.

@faye - if i may answer.. that is correct.. pag PR kana.. you only have 3 months to use your valid overseas driving license..

eto ang nakalagay sa WA dept of transport: for Permanent visa holders
If you hold a permanent visa, you can continue to drive on your overseas licence until you have resided in WA for three months.

If you are an Australian permanent resident or hold a permanent visa under the Commonwealth Migration Act 1958 and you intend to stay in NSW, you are not considered to be a visitor. As such, you are allowed to drive in NSW on a current overseas licence for a maximum of three months after arriving in Australia. If you wish to continue driving, you must obtain a NSW driver licence.

so i guess cumulative ung 30 days.. weird naman sguro kung nag Initial entry k lang for 1 week.. tpos bumalik ka after 1 year eh pano ka makakuha agad ng license...

Hello sa lahat..add ko Lang na ok Lang gumamit ng Phil license kung under work visa ka..but depende pa din sa company..meron na required n oz DL ang hawak mo..lalo pa kung sa mining ka magwowork..

late na pero sana masagot tanong ng iba. No need to get an international drivers license kasi pwede naman ung License natin sa pinas non-pro lang ako satin ung ginagamit ko dito nun kaso na expired na kaya kailangan ko na kumuha ng oz license. pag 3yrs or more ka ng my license satin di ka na dadaan ng "P" plater full license ka na agad pero kailangan mo ipasa ung computer test saka driving test. kulang ng 150aud lahat kasama na id. ung international sayang lang sa pera un saka good for a year lang. eto link http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/

just read this from DIAC's brochure: "Beginning Life in Australia"

If you are a permanent resident and have a current driver's licence from another country, in English or with an official translation, in most states and territories you are allowed to drive for your first three months after arrival.

Note: In Tasmania, the three month period begins when you are granted your permanent residency visa, NOT when you arrive in Australia.

if pr ka dapat kuha ka talaga ng australian license, pwede rin magamit yung international license kaso lang 1 year lang yun then kuha ka rin ng australian DL. After mo mapasa yung DKT (Drivers Knowledge Test), dapat mag enroll ka sa driving school dito bago ka take ng driving test, madami rin naman pinoy instructor dito. May mga kilala akong after mapasa yung DKT nag test kaagad, yun bagsak. Kaya ako nakapag 6 hours ako ng lesson before nag take, kaya 1 take lang.

Aus. $ 50 na yung bayad sa test, tapos 160 yung rent sa car na gagamitin sa test, pero kung may friend kang magpa hiram ng car, okay lang naman.

sa pagkakaalam ko po....pag SG-license, derecho convert na lang po to AU license. pero depende pa din ata kung gaano na katagal yung SG license nyo.

naku di ko po sure e. wala pa din po ako sa oz. antayin natin si sir @Bryann. magaapply na yun ng driver's license sa Sydney any time soon.

Kuha ng dkt exam is 42 kung pumasa 22 then per hour sa lesson is 45, then driving exam is 50..yung lahat na magasto depende kung ilang take saka ilang hours sa driving lesson.

Take the sample exam as much as you can hangang makabiado mo na ang sagot hehehe...
AFter passing hte computer exam, at saka ka palang pwede magpa schedule ng actual driving test.

Kung more than 25 yrs old na misis mo, hindi na kailangan ng log book.

Kung below 25 yrs old, required ang log book to apply for a drivers license.
Log book is yung driving lessons. Everytime na mag driveka, sign lang ng instructor or someone na kasama nya na mag drive na may professional driver license.

Di na kailangan pare...nandun naman sa phil dl kung kelan yun first issue...alam na yun nla dito. Saka pag fill up mo ng form may tanong din namn dun kung ilang years kna nag drive sa atin.

Note: Di ako sure sa 7 yrs yata ang required to go straight to Prof lciense. di ko na matandaan. Basta may minimum number of yrs sila required na may prof license ka overseaes para qualified ka to go striaght to profesional drivers in Austrlaia once na ipasamo yung actual driving test.


Once na naipasa ko yung actual driving test, pinakita ko yung license ko at yung letter of First Issuance together with the applciation form.

Kinuha nila nila yung Certificate of First Issuance.

Yung driver license number mo yata nakaindicate sa yung first issue. Pero nakakalam lang nun ssystem na yun eh sa LTO.

Kso mahirap explain pa yan sa RTA officer kung pano naging date ng issue yung driver license number mo not unless pinpoy yung RTA officer.

Or may training sila kung pano interpret yung driver license number ng ibat ibang country.


Anyway, siguro depnde sa RTA officer kung pumapayag kaagad.

Pwede mo subukan na walang certificate pero pano kung manghingi ng proof?


In my experience, Para safe at walang hassle, kumuha na ko at sinama ko sa pag apply ng professional drivers license.

hmmm.... sige sige kukuha na den lang ako ng certificate sa LTO para sure... pero sigurado bang certificate of FIRST Issuance lang ang kelangan or kelangan pati meron kang international driving license?

Yung sa akin pagkuha ko pa lang ng DKT alam na
nila kung ilang years na ako nag drive sa phils..,so di na kailangan yung cert of first issuance.
