agree with @totoyOzresident's comments about Labor and Liberal. According to my friend na 6 years na dito, eto mga comment ng relatives nya and officemates about Rudd and Abbott (or about labor and liberal):

    Labor:
"Sila nagpataas ng lahat ng bilihin saka ng immigration fees. last yr alone, 2x tumaas, and tataas pa sa october. sila din nag cut ng SOL fr 300plus occupations to 100plus. Papasok ang carbon tax pag nanalo sila.

During Howard's time (Liberal), madaming cash overflow ang Au kaya nung naupo si kevin rudd, namigay ng namigay. ngayon ubos na kaya puro taxes at tataas pa lalo ang taxes dahil sa carbon at telecoms taxes na naiisip nila. walang nagawa yan nung umupo kaya napalitan ni gillard.

Saka Kevin Rudd is not for immigrants. Tony Abbott is. Hindi tayo poprotektahan ni Rudd. Kinut na nung time niya yung benefits for skilled people. Noon, may allowance ang migrants habang wala pang nahahanap na work. Inalis yun during his time, tapos nag increase at naghigpit lahat. Si Rudd madaming naiisip yan na out of pocket taxes from skilled people. hehehe

Eh after daw iboto wala naman daw nagawa for Australia. Pero in the long-run daw, better for Au.

Oh well let's hope for the best na gagawin ni Abbott ang mga tamang decisions now that he is the PM.
Thanks stolich18. I agree with your comment. Australia is in the right track under the PM Tony Abbott of Liberal/National coalition Party. Kailangan talaga mahinto yung Labor kasi overspending masyado ang labor with poor planning. :D in my opinion mas gaganda ang economy ng Australia by early next year.

    Cheers

    Right on the money!

I'm not an economic expert by any stretch of the imagination. But this I know:

Most recessions start with a significant drop in spending for products and services. Kasi, kokonti ang kita ng businesses. To prevent recession, the government will have to increase consumer spending and increase employment (para may pera ang tao to spend).

Now hindi ko alam how it relates to Australia. But any government spending is actually pumping money into their system. Basic economics.

Or maybe, ma-relate ko to Oz.... Comment po kayo ha in case may mali somewhere.

Example, Holden. Tsaka, flagship ng australia yang holden, I believe.

But not all spending should be construed as bad. Maybe it was necessary.

One of the promise made by Abbot if he become PM is that he will make void the earlier policy made by Rudd government against FBT (or Novated lease on cars). I think, Abbot will retain the existing policy and all in car industry (leasing companies, local car manufacturers like toyota, ford & holden) will actually be very happy on this. So yung mga nagbabalak na bumili ng bagong kotse, this is really good news. Pero check nyo yung mga companies nyo if they have this type of benefits...well yung sa company na mapapasukan ko, meron yeheyy. It will save u maybe 200 to 300 AUD per month of tax.

    Mister One Per Cent

The results from yesterday’s Nielson Poll gives Labor a 52-48 lead over the Coalition and an approval rating for the Opposition leader, Bill Shorten a modest 21%. I say ‘modest’, yet it is the strongest debut of any opposition leader since Kevin Rudd in 2006-07.

The poll should not bring much joy for the Government as voters have also voiced rejection for the Government’s policies with, in particular, their handling of asylum seekers and their Direct Action plan proving overwhelmingly unpopular.

But here’s the big one: Tony Abbott’s personal approval rating was a staggering 1%. Yes, 1%. Tony Abbott is Mr One Per Cent! (Hopefully the tag of Mr One Percent can stick, much as it did with John Howard who carried the tag of Mr Fourteen Per Cent following a disastrous approval rating while Leader of the Opposition some years ago).

In all seriousness though, this is an absolutely disastrous result for the Prime Minister. While the Government has only taken a hit, he has taken a bashing. He is clearly unpopular beyond imagination and has earned not an ounce of credibility since taking office. Mark Kenny, in the above article offers a few suggestions as to why:

The government is struggling to maintain public confidence in its tough stop-the-boats policy while refusing to reveal the most basic details on the grounds of operational security, and the breakdown of co-operation with Indonesia.
The government is struggling to explain to voters why it campaigned against spending – declaring the answer to debt is never more debt – but is now seeking an unprecedented $200 billion hike in the national credit card limit.

Can you think of any more? For example, do you think his tough stance on Indonesia has blown up in his face?

Tony Abbott has clearly taken the blame for the Government’s failings, and so he should. The buck stops with him, to borrow an old term.

But fear not, within days a Newspoll will be released showing he has an approval rating of 90% and the Government leading the Opposition 55-45. ;-)

    10 weeks of Abbott...a summary #auspol #ausvotes
    1. Appoints no Minister for Science (we must be the only country without one), no Minister for Tourism (our 2nd major export industry has NO minister), and a dozen other vital portfolios now missing
    2. Breaks a promise to spend the first week in office with an Aboriginal community (but goes once a year to ‘volunteer’ for the photo-op, which costs the taxpayer $65,000 in private jet flights)
    3. Removes Marine Parks zoning, allowing for dredging for oil in our UNESCO Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef
    4. Removes Marine Parks zoning, allowing for logging of UNESCO Heritage Listed Tasmanian Forests – all 170,000 hectares of it

    13. Cuts jobs of up to 15,000 school teachers by ‘managing them out’
    14. Plans to privatize public schools making them ‘independent’ + lying to the public that these schools produce better results (contrary to all research published on it)
    15. Goes back on most of Gonski education reforms promises, even Lib gov states are fighting Abbott and Pyne now
    16. Sells off student HECS/PELS debt effectively resulting in higher interest
    17. Goes back on the National Disability Insurance Scheme promises – shoved it off to Medibank which they are now selling
    18. Cuts $70M in firefighting services and closed 9 fire stations just prior to the NSW bushfires (then hypocritically went prancing around in a firefighters uniform with a SkyNews reporter)

    20. Cuts all government research funds for academics in the Humanities and Social Sciences

    27. Resumes inhumane livestock trade with Indonesia despite numerous investigations of animal cruelty during live export
    28. Breaks international law and the Hague Convention on Human rights which states that it is LEGAL to seek asylum… Yet, they go ahead and demand we call asylum seekers ‘illegals”
    29. Goes back on the National Broadband plan (already a number of states such as Tasmania, parts of WA, etc. will NOT be upgraded to even the Libs pathetic option)
    30. Gives Sri Lanka free boats as a gift for genocide (make sure victims can’t escape!)
    31. Excuses Sri Lanka’s war crimes and genocides as “difficult things happen in difficult circumstances” while UK PM condemns it
    32. Offends all of Indonesian press by shutting them out of his press conferences during visit
    33. Completely destroys Aust/Indonesia diplomatic relationship – unable to apologise/manage it.
    34. Changes Act of Discrimination Law ALLOWING racial vilification (says it’s “freedom of speech”!), and discrimination of people based on race/colour
    35. Lies about a Budget Emergency, then went on to borrow double the ‘inherited’ debt to: give the Reserve Bank of Australia $9 Billion (RBA said they didn’t want it or need it), to give the highest income earners / super holders a tax break, to make Hockey look good, etc
    36. Cuts scheduled raises of wages for the 30,000 childcare workers nationally
    37. Lib politicians and their families take Air Force-operated VIP flights to work, costing taxpayers $50,000 for every hour spent in the air

    39. Plans to increase retirement age and access to super to 70 years of age when most people are then unemployable, suffering too many illnesses and mental incapacity – what will they do?
    40. Secretly negotiates a potentially very damaging Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement aka ‘free trade’ agreement. It is so damaging to Australia, even Howard would not negotiate it! If will affect our sovereignty, individual freedoms, national laws, etc.
    41. Sends unaccompanied children to asylum, some self-harming, suicidal, etc. = care factor ZERO
    42. Cracks down on trade unions by including jail time (!) if new rules broken
