Most of the healthcare professionals I work with are not very optimistic about Abbott. Sabi nga nung ibang older nurses kaninang umaga sa ward: "here we go again!".

Ang problema ngayon kasi he is pressured by the very people who is supporting him. Eto yung mga employers and retail businesses na gusto scrap ang penal rates for overtime and weekend/holidays. Guess sino kawawa? Syempre, ang simpleng manggagawa who actually has to work sundays and holidays, to make ends meet. With present overtime rates, you can receive up to 250% of your base pay kasi.

Another is his paternity leave. Ok sana to. Taas kamay.

Tsaka, ewan ko ba, I don't have a very good impression of him when I first heard his interview. I really hope he proves to be better than that interview. Kasi he came off like... almost racist, really.

On the upside, he will probably be earning millions (or maybe bilions) for australia. But that will mean he has to cut jobs, cut on a lot of benefits. Si Kevin Rudd kasi, spends a lot. Kaya inaayawan na labour. But I'm thinking (and correct me guys if I'm wrong), if yung spending is going to healthcare, infrastructure, jobs, then it's ok right.

At least Abbott and Rudd, are both anti-boat people.

To be honest, we don't know too much the issues but it is always good to have changes in the government...
Its my first to vote napaka dali lang bumoto dito. In my opionion balance Government ang Australia. Katulad noon Liberal party ang PM John Howard from 1996 to 2007 then tinalo ng Labor Party ang pumalit si PM Kevin Rudd after 3 years nanalo ulit ang Labor Party ang PM si Julia Gillard from 2010 to 2013. Any Party or Grouping thats wins 76 seats or more in House of representatives could form government in their own right. Liberal/national coalition party wins 86 seats while Labor party wins 57 seats. I reckon this new government are good in Australia economy.

But I reckon everything will be alright. Let see by next year January or february kung Gaganda ulit ang economy ng Australia.

    Hi btarroja213

The new government is not anti immigration. Australia needs migrant especially for those highly skilled. I reckon the effect is may konting higpit or may konting amendment ang process or sistema ng immigration. Baka may mga specific number of applicants na puede nila tanggapin every year. But this is only my opinion lets see by November this year. cheers

    Bossing, hello po.

Magkaiba man tayo ng opinyon, tingin ko this is nevertheless a healthy discussion. It just means may pakialam tayo sa bansang to, na bumubuhay sa atin sa kasalukuyan.

Eto po... I support the Greens! Gusto ko plataporma nila. Concrete yung sinasabi nila, tsaka transparent sila. Sana nga they get enough seats in the parliament to preserve the balance of power!

I don't support Green party kasi madaming christian values that they don't support

Thats the democratic country Mayrun accountability para may balance of power sa government.

more of economic and environmental thrust talaga po yata ang Greens. Hindi yata talaga sila focused on any religious or Christian issues eh. Which to me, may not necessarily be a bad thing. Iba lang talaga focus nila.

Admittedly, mahirap talaga pag religion and politics na ang usapan. Iba-iba opinions, and not one may be wrong. Also, a lot of political issues run counter to what we believe in as Catholics (or Christians).

i reckon Sayang lang ang boto mo sa greens ... sorry no pun intended ...

if you want to make a change either vote one of the 2 major parties .. anyway it worked during the 2010 election wherein there was a hung parliament .. and the independents together with the greens made the government

So with ALP + Greens, enough yun to contradict the coalition? Not sure about this though.

    Negatives accdg to my auntie:

    1. Work choices will be implemented again. Sa paka explain sa akin, the companies will have more power over the employee but I think its more proper for those na matagal na dito sa Au to elaborate on this.

    2. Wala daw new infrastructure under Abott. Example, NBN halt.

    3. Although maganda ang budget savings, but Abott will get the savings from cost cutting. Example, NBN, 12k gov't jobs gone, private healthcare insurance rebate na 30% wala na and some more.. Jan nya kukunin majority ng savings nya.. As opposed daw kay Rudd na tinatax nya ng malaki ang mga mining firms and next daw ang mga financial institutions kaso natalo so happy big companies.

    4. And sinungaling daw, may anak sa labas, not dependable etch. :)

Enumerated by my auntie.

agree with @totoyOzresident's comments about Labor and Liberal. According to my friend na 6 years na dito, eto mga comment ng relatives nya and officemates about Rudd and Abbott (or about labor and liberal):

    Labor:
"Sila nagpataas ng lahat ng bilihin saka ng immigration fees. last yr alone, 2x tumaas, and tataas pa sa october. sila din nag cut ng SOL fr 300plus occupations to 100plus. Papasok ang carbon tax pag nanalo sila.

During Howard's time (Liberal), madaming cash overflow ang Au kaya nung naupo si kevin rudd, namigay ng namigay. ngayon ubos na kaya puro taxes at tataas pa lalo ang taxes dahil sa carbon at telecoms taxes na naiisip nila. walang nagawa yan nung umupo kaya napalitan ni gillard.

Saka Kevin Rudd is not for immigrants. Tony Abbott is. Hindi tayo poprotektahan ni Rudd. Kinut na nung time niya yung benefits for skilled people. Noon, may allowance ang migrants habang wala pang nahahanap na work. Inalis yun during his time, tapos nag increase at naghigpit lahat. Si Rudd madaming naiisip yan na out of pocket taxes from skilled people. hehehe

Eh after daw iboto wala naman daw nagawa for Australia. Pero in the long-run daw, better for Au.

Oh well let's hope for the best na gagawin ni Abbott ang mga tamang decisions now that he is the PM.

if you are pertaining telecoms tax = NBN .. you are misinformed ... the NBN is a business that would return a 7% ROI ... and same as starting up a business you need capital ...

And as Immigration Fees are concern it is good for Australian and bad for Migrants ... For me being a australian already Im in favor of it ... instead of taxes to fund it better to have it shouldered to the migrant

some times I hate political debate .. i guess its a un-winnable debate ... its like the saying "in the eye of the beholder" ... it depends on every individual on how they think the party is good for him/her or not hehehe

    @TotoyOZresident

more of economic and environmental thrust talaga po yata ang Greens.

I don't quite get how they vote for the senators but news said that liberals don't hold majority of senate and neither labor .. so there still a balance in power ....
