Time for Career Change!

rarekingrareking MontrealPosts: 466Member
I am thinking of starting a new career. Starting a good career in Oz I think is still practical and makakabuhay pa din ng isang maliit na pamilya.

- rareking, wife and son

@rareking gusto mo ba yung tipong mag go-grow ka parin professionally like office work na malaking chance ma promote or gusto mo yung chill na work lang? I know a few na nag forklift driver dito. ok naman daw work nila, dapat lang mag school ka ng forklift driving na 2 hours to get a license. and dapat may driver's license. That is if you consider blue collar job lang naman.

Salamat sa mga inputs. Magandang suggestion yung TAFE courses, research ko yun further.

Gusto ko itry oil and gas or food manufacturing, engineering or quality side of it. So maybe Health and Safety, Food Manufacturing courses try ko ireview kung saan ako uubra..

@cholle - sa job hunting ba, may weight ba kapag Australia schools classroom set-up versus online, lets say sa TAFE?

@moonwitchbleu - thanks for the advice.. gusto ko din kahit papano related sa engineering.. bad driver ako, pangbike lang.. :)

that's what I wanted to know din if there's a different b/w classroom/campus base set up vs online training center. However, looking at the course outline same lang din naman sila and same din naman na nationally recognise training sila. Though medyo mahal ang campus base courses as compared sa online. I am planning to take a diploma course online kasi.. any input? thanks

    Hi to everyone!

Speaking of career change, is there anyone here who can share something about taking-masters-degree in Au? Preferably in engineering field.

Possible ba magka-place tau sa schools here like univ of melbourne sa postgrad program nila? Kasi pag binasa mo ang website nila, it seems easy to enter, may mga qualifying rounds paba or evaluation pra ma-approve for a masters degree? Univ of melbourne is no.1 school in Au.

Another thing, if possible at open naman sila sa mga simpleng tao lang na tulad ko, possible din kaya na ma-avail natin ang govt funding kung PR tau? I know kc halos lahat ng aussie whose studying bachelors degree eh naka under ng govt funding. May priority ba sila in terms of whos gonna be given funding?

Gusto ko lang tlga magaral. At umuwi sa pinas after...

    @happyinmelbourne34,

Not yet PR sir. 457 pa lang ako, dependant type pa. Hehehe. Plan ng partner ko magskills assessment this oct then apply for 189. At defacto ulit ako nun. So mga next yr pa kmi maPR neto kung skali.

Ganun b un sir after 2yrs of being PR. Hehehe. Ang mahal kc. Like ung 1 subject is 3500 aud. Pero kung govt funded nasa 1k plus lng.

Magkano sa rmit nung kumuha ka?

So mtgal tgal pa tlga aq mkakapagaral. Matagal pako makakauwi ng pinas.

    Salamat sir.

Thanks for the ideas guys, gusto ko na din talaga mag change career kasi medyo stressful ang IT and hindi ideal na both of us are in IT field tapos nag raise ng family :)

heheh, mahal tlaga kung ikaw ang mag so shoulder, tanda ko nasa 30-35K AUD ung buong program 3yrs part time study, ngayon nasa 40K.

Sabi lang ng Iranian na officemate ko, pag PR daw as long as after 2 yrs ng residency or citizen, libre daw ang PhD degree if qualified ka...ewan ko lang kung totoo.

Ang mahal ah. Pero uso naman db d2 ung 1 or 2 subj per sem lng muna ang ite-take. Balak ska mahal tlga pag private univ. Dapat public lng. S univ of melbourne kc 28k per year lng. Tpos mggng 8k lng sya kapag govt funded.

@lester , not sure kung magkano sa ibang uni cguro nga mas mura, pero if PR ka pwede ka magavail ng Commonwealth supported place (csp) fees. Eto yata ung sinasabi mo na govt funding kc share ng cost b/w you and govt as long as eligible ka. Gusto ko nga sana mag pursue ngayon ng master's degree, since more than 3 yrs n dn ung PR ko pwede ko na avail nung HECS-HELP fee pero dami kc lagi trabaho sa office. Kung part time ko sya kukunin, my klase ng weekdays pang gabi kso nakakapagod na magbyahe pa-city :)

Wla nmn aq nbsa n need 2yrs muna of being pr. Ang sb bsta pr ka. Then during ur study dpat pr ka. Then majority ng mga subj n itetake mo dpat d2 mo kukunin in australia.

    @happyinmelbourne34,

I saw in swinburne website, 1 sa entry requirement nila is being proficient in computer programming. Dana, ganun ba tlga when ur entering a masters degree?

Nakita ko kc ung masters in engineering science ( advanced manufacturing technology) at pwdng pathway sya ng isang Mech engr.

Eh mech engr nga db wla nmn taung alam sa programming? Or gnto tlga d2, may subj cla n programming?

Sa RMIT kc non, ung Masters in mfng eng'g required lang nila is engineering bachelor's degree at ielts.

    Good news / Bad News - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-28/job-services-overhaul-benefit-young-long-term-unemployed/5627660

Good news: Mr Hartsuyker says the system is designed to provide incentives to make sure unemployed people find and keep work. "It's not unreasonable to expect that job seekers should be out there looking for work," he said.

"Job service providers will be rewarded for getting people into work for periods as short as four weeks - so there'll be four-week, 12-week, and 26-week outcomes.

    Bad news: More competition?
